Takeda was way more interesting as being Kenshi’s son. NRS also turned Kung Jin into to Kung Lao’s nephew instead of his cousin but that was in the previous timeline. What’s next, Janet Cage is Cassie’s sister? lol

That was expected to be honest. Because we knew that they gonna change his origin in mk1 from the leaks and stuff. And I hate it, because it doesn't make sense anymore. Like, he is related to Kenshi but he is not Kenshi's son. Because I expected him to be Kenshi's son but from original mkx universe. And nrs had to change his origin and throw all my expectations away. What a bullcrap.

That shouldn't be possible this not the first time they make characters backstory inconsistent they included movie lore into the games story in MK3 MK4 including kano dying in mk95 from sonyas neck snap in to the defenders of the realm they made liu kang and kung lao cousins when they implied the current kung lao was the ancestor and they included the Kitana liu kang romance in the game and mk vs. Dc made shao khan and raiden brothers

As a person who hates mk1. I don't care about the change of his story, but I felt confident enough to say that his role as a kombat kid is no longer a primary for him and instead he's a lone man who is now related to kenshi takahashi as a whole.

The story of Kenshi and Takeda going after the Red Dragon to get revenge for what happened to the mother of Takeda / wife of Kenshi was a great martial arts story. They teased so much in those arcade endings just to turn around and throw them in garbage. Why did they even bother. Seems like they'd forget in the 4 year span between games they were working on and next game always would be something different or forgotten. This time they just put everything in the stupid blender and set it to woke.

The Red Dragon was interesting and Mortal Kombat themed. the Yakuza is boring and lame real everyday real world themed. bring back the imagination. bring back Tobias. He didn't create Kenshi or Takeda but he could have done a whole hell of a lot better. just imagine the new characters he could have created if he stayed. they'd all be a better fit for Mortal Kombat than anything NRS has done or better than the Boon era without him.
