I like this film a lot for how closely it resembles Tritanopia, the colorblindness I suffer in one eye. Sure it's not a 1 to 1 reproduction but it's genuinely a useful tool to help show my friends how I see.
@6:47 So agree with you Jason! Despite the questionable look some of these experimental film stocks may have, it's great to have a company still passionate about developing new stocks and serving a slowly (re)growing userbase. Looking forward to your next videos, cheers mate!
I wonder why lomo hasn't tried to recreate an colour infrared film, I understand it's difficult, but they have already made some funky films, and had quite far reaching projects that end up succeeding. Maybe jason should do a powerpoint and then beg and cry on his knees at the lomo headquarters. I'd support that project for aerochome.
It's certainly an interesting film stock. It works nice on architecture photography like you did here, because the focus on the photo is the shapes of the buildings rather than the color, which this stock mostly washes out. The photo at 3:17 is my favorite of the video
I never did get to shoot "the Turq" but decided to pre-order the first new batch to try. I think it, like Purple, looks better in 120 because the grain is pretty prominent in 35. I used to not understand these films, but Purple REALLY got me seeing the world a little differently and shooting different things and I love the final output and shoot it regularly now. Turquoise will push my limits as to what I may like just like Metropolis hasn't really excited me, but your shots on "the Turq" are pretty amazing, and yeah, if they made 4x5 or 8X10 it would be hella impressive and surreal. Some people don't get it, and that's cool, but I love that most of the comments are supporting Lomo for producing something new, even if it's just swapping the dye layers two different ways (purple and turquoise)
I could find this one useful in some conceptual/psychedelic shoots depending on the location unlike lomo pink which always feels tacky and gimmicky to me no matter the subject.
suuuuper stoked for this stock. I pre-ordered a bunch of 35 and 120 when they released it last fall, so June can't come soon enough. I agree in that it's awesome that a film company is putting resources into more experimental film stocks to appease us weirdos who like shooting it. I will also say that your choice to shoot architecture in high contrast scenes really lends to the look and was a smart choice. That said, I'm probably going to be shooting some mountain landscapes with my first roll because there's diddly for interesting architecture where I live.
With regards to Lomo’s ISO range on their Lomochrome stocks, my understanding is that the film is a base ISO 400 stock but they’re saying it’ll work fine 1-2 stops over exposed.
"Turquoise is actually been around in the past, but it was discontinued by Lomography way before Fuji made discontinuing film ... cool" - this line is just pure Kodak Gold my sir.
I may be a bit too narrow minded to shoot fringe film stock, gimme some Tri-X and Portra. Too funny at 5:20, that was great. Sport'n a new lens for the M6? I musta missed its debut. Next time your road trip takes you to Northern CA, check out Filoli House and Garden.
Some of those shots are so dang cool. I love the one under that walkway with the columns where it’s a bit reflective. Could you do a tutorial on the end clip photos (that look like video) some day?
for some reason my phone (huawei p8 lite 2017) takes the same pictures when I shoot in dng format with lightroom, awesome stuff, you don't even need film if you want to shoot that way also you can invert the colors in photoshop using the hue slider, then everything looks more or less normal, but the grass becomes red/purple
I converted a digital camera to be able to shoot infrared light - this reminds me of some shots I’ve taken. Pretty cool a film stock achieves the same look! 😎👍🏻
Talking about Lomo, would be great to see you revisit Metropolis, that new 2021 formula looks great, but I have yet not seen anyone shoot it other than the photos Lomo released
I shot at the Villa a few years ago with a friend’s Mamiya 7 and my not so trusty Minolta Hi-Matic AF2. The Mamiya stuff was just ok and the only good 35mm shots were ruined due to a loose internal shade/frame stencil thing (idk) blocking the emulsion. There were things I’ll never be able to replicate on that roll and I don’t think I’ll ever recover from it lmao
this film stock actually started selling in Tokyo...im gonna see for myself if the hype is worth it :D compared to Lomography Purple cheers wish they made a 120 version theres only 35mm atm
Normally I don't care for their experimental stuff... But I vibe with this. Can I do the same thing in Lightroom? Sure, but where's the fun in that? -(Actually a lot of fun, but shh.)-
Oh, and I think both "Turq and the Purp" shoot better at ISO 200 and are probably its natural ISO based on the shots I've seen and how I shoot Purple now. I've been trying to understand why Lomo wouldn't just say that, but I think at ISO 400 the effects of the dye switching and base color are more extreme and maybe they think that's giving users "more look for their money"? Purple at ISO 200 is the bomb.
A few of these shots looked like paintings. Actually, at the beginning of the video I thought they were painting until the video started getting into the meat of what we were looking at. There’s a very liminal spaces, sterile, isolationism to the colors. Maybe there’s a use theres trying to capture that
I do really hope that the final release is a little less grainy, that or you were underexposing for it. with purple I found 100-200iso worked best for me. Its looking like this will be similar.
I wonder what it would be like if it was cross processed, it kinda looks like it already has been. Probably end up being colour positive film. :-) Anyhoo, keep up the great videos.
When one runs out of ideas, this is what hope it works. It does not work. PS Lomography, focus on 120, 220, film, color @ bw. One can print same in post production darkroom. CANADA
Well I am still waiting for my film... 6 months ago it was going to be out in 30 to 60 days..... Now I have no idea what I will use it for if I ever get it....
correction: it's "Ms Lomography"
not gonna lie, this is the perfect Vaporwave film stock
Weird, somehow inspiring, funny in a twisted way, and borderline depressing at the same time. Love the film stock though!
Best way to describe him
welcome
Welcome to the Channel!

Good stuff pals,

They're shooting at the Getty Villa if anyone is curious

Nothing like sitting down with a fresh Ice Cold Coca Cola Classic and watching some Grainy Days.
You mean Nuka cola

I freaking love this film stock! It’s such a unique feeling that it captures! Not for everything or every day but definitely fun sometimes!
Man this is the second video i see on your channel and i already know you run the dopest photography channel in the history of yt.
Looks fun and unique. Grateful to lomography for producing new film stocks.
This film stock radiates huge Neil Krug vibes and I love it!
Lomo Lobster, Purple and Turquoise all looks like a dream. They all remind me of dreams and the amount of strangeness it gives

you mean Lomo Purple?
Can’t wait. I had my pre order in as soon as they announced it. Great shots. Love the vibe of this film.
the feelings when Jason uploads is synonymous with a sneeze but better, if you catch my drift ;)
suuuuper stoked for this stock. I pre-ordered a bunch of 35 and 120 when they released it last fall, so June can't come soon enough. When grainydays and bad flashes post at the same time, you know its gonna be a good day !
Babe, wake up. New grainydays video
YES I COULD FEEL IT!
I agree. Nasty as hell!
But very fun. Lomo makes some interesting films for sure.
With regards to Lomo’s ISO range on their Lomochrome stocks, my understanding is that the film is a base ISO 400 stock but they’re saying it’ll work fine 1-2 stops over exposed.
Was having a bit of a shit today today, glad to see this upload
I've got a 5 pack of this on preorder. I'm excited to have some of this on deck for those extra trippy ideas
why are you so good at what you're doing
The week is made. My sacrifices of Kodak Gold 200 were well received by the photography gods.
"Turquoise is actually been around in the past, but it was discontinued by Lomography way before Fuji made discontinuing film ... cool" - this line is just pure Kodak Gold my sir.
The key to enjoying steamed vegetables is to ladle butter over them, then shake on the salt and pepper until you run out. Simple!
Perfect example of big brain thinking! Love the video intro
Was waiting to see if Jason would try this out
Really like the shot at 3:34.
If Lomography can do this, then Kodak can bring back Aerochrome
i just found u because i was interested in lomography, but you funny camera man, good job. +1 sub and +200 social credits
This turquoise film gave the images a religious touch, brilliant
Make a video analysing your best exploits.
I loooveee your large format work!!
When you find a great film and grainydays already has a video about it.
Definitely want to try out that film stock!
I may be a bit too narrow minded to shoot fringe film stock, gimme some Tri-X and Portra.
Too funny at 5:20, that was great.
Sport'n a new lens for the M6? I musta missed its debut.

Excited for the rolls I preordered, but it’ll probably be something I shoot on a rare occasion. Wonder what it might look like with color filters
i’m naming my firstborn after you jason
It definitely has more in common with black and white than it does with color.
Some of those shots are so dang cool. I love the one under that walkway with the columns where it’s a bit reflective. Could you do a tutorial on the end clip photos (that look like video) some day?

I feel like it's better than the purple. warmth and intriguing,
can't wait to shoot!
I don't usually love gimmicky photos, but these have a cool look.
wow these pictures are so fun and I actually like them a lot! I wish I can try one too.
I love the film, great video.
I pre-ordered this! Can’t wait to waste it 🙃
Cool video man! I never used to be into these weird films either, and I still am nkt super into them, but I would be keen to give it a crack!
Glad you didn't forget about the video
If you invert only the colors and not luminance it kinda looks something like Aerochrome. could be useful
I converted a digital camera to be able to shoot infrared light - this reminds me of some shots I’ve taken. Pretty cool a film stock achieves the same look! 😎👍🏻
oh, I bought some of this last year. still waiting for it to arrive.
Rewatching old grainydays videos to keep the thoughts away
Not even finished the video but you lookin snazzy in that red jacket my man.
Could you do a video on which lenses you would recommend for film photography?
been waiting for this
Lomo purple/turquoise as super 8 would be neat
Looks nice! It would be interesting to see what the film negatives look like. They could have pretty nice colors right after the scan
Talking about Lomo, would be great to see you revisit Metropolis, that new 2021 formula looks great, but I have yet not seen anyone shoot it other than the photos Lomo released
really wish lomo made any of their stocks in sheets
You and me both
AESTHETIC
lol Cinestill was listening to this video and was like "we give you...options".
wake up honey, the new grainydays video is here
I shot at the Villa a few years ago with a friend’s Mamiya 7 and my not so trusty Minolta Hi-Matic AF2. Lessss go graindays!
I never was high yet, but this film made me feel like I was, I like it
I use film to take pictures of fleeting moments (aka snapshots). They low key smack. I was wondering if its actually a waist of money now 😅
Normally I don't care for their experimental stuff... But I vibe with this.
Can I do the same thing in Lightroom? Sure, but where's the fun in that?
-(Actually a lot of fun, but shh.)-
The haircut Is looking fresh.
Skin tones aside, some of these shots came out neat.
Although everything looks like a Foals album cover.
Can we have your next video in a PM super enthusiastic tone 😆 keep up the great content
The statue was looking at your summicron 28 for sure
I can see myself using it. Quite interesting.
Damn Jason out here looking like a snack 👀
It reminds me a lot of two strip technicolor!!
I need it like that sweet jacket
I like it. Probably should shoot a roll. Lomo send me that test roll
Ryan gosling does photography using weird ass film
Oh, and I think both "Turq and the Purp" shoot better at ISO 200 and are probably its natural ISO based on the shots I've seen and how I shoot Purple now. Moira Rose would be proud of how you pronounced “Behbeh”
Has anyone been able to find it? I seriously can’t find it online anywhere
Great video
What JG Ballard books would be like if they were photos.
Hey, where did you get that brass soft shutter release? I dig its look!
How do you make those animated photos at the end of each video ?
A few of these shots looked like paintings. Actually, at the beginning of the video I thought they were painting until the video started getting into the meat of what we were looking at. There’s a very liminal spaces, sterile, isolationism to the colors. Maybe there’s a use theres trying to capture that
Wanna do a tutorial on that enlarger you have over there ;)
I do really hope that the final release is a little less grainy, that or you were underexposing for it.
with purple I found 100-200iso worked best for me. Its looking like this will be similar.
Tbh with purple i had super underexposed shots unless i shot it at 100 iso. So I pre-ordered these thinking it was going to be a 100 iso boy
good job
Making that connection to Led Zeppelin! Solid m8
I wonder what it would be like if it was cross processed, it kinda looks like it already has been. Probably end up being colour positive film. :-) Anyhoo, keep up the great videos.
Yep. It basically gives you Houses of the Holy shit.
Review the new Adox color film
When one runs out of ideas, this is what hope it works. It does not work. PS Lomography, focus on 120, 220, film, color @ bw. One can print same in post production darkroom. CANADA
