Don’t...don’t give us hope
Do it. Please.
Yoooooo!
Bring it back or I’ll pee on your car (not really but intimidation helps, right?)
👀
I was an archaeologist in the 1990s, we used this in aerial photos to spot where colonial building foundations were buried, and Native American campsites. They slightly affect the hydration of the grass growing above, and it’s very visible in the photos.
Are these images published somewhere? I would absolutely love to see them!!!!! People talk about areal archeology as a novel technique - using machine learning and satellite data to find exactly what you were looking for - but it seems like people have been doing that for a while!!! SO SO SO COOL! Anyway, if you know how I might begin finding them, that would be so awesome!
@@TrenchForgeArmory yeah there is nothing new about that technique except the satellite part of it I guess.
I don’t know if the work was ever published for the public, but they are stored for the states regulatory purposes, and with the firms that did the work.
Asome!
That’s really cool! Now I guess we use LIDAR? Also what system did you use to keep track of where the frame was taken exactly? Just write down the frame number and the associated coordinates?
@cdegenova1761 there were always landmarks, farm buildings, roads, treelines, etc. We were in populated areas.
I was JUSt saying how much I wanted to try this. after seeing this I definitely want to try it even more.
Please bruh
Dude same here, all my feed was aerochrome suggestions
Bro same
How much is a roll of 120 worth to you?
aerochrome is lovely! you should definitely try some
If I can bring you to tears, in 1966-67 I was an Air Force photographer in Viet Nam and reprocessed miles and miles of 9.5 inch by 100 foot rolls of Kodak Infra red Aero Ektachrome producing individual images 9.5x20 inches. A 20 inch long slide is wild enough but in IR? Eat your heart out! :-)
“Anyways that’s it. Drug trip over.” *plant in the back shifts back to normal* Genius.
Thanks for mentioning, I totally didn't notice.
HOLLY SHT!
Praying to the film gods that Kodak brings this back one day. I’ve always wanted to shoot with it.
“We have also got. Couple of new additions to our portfolio we’re looking at. I can’t tell you what they are because I don’t want to get people too excited in terms of announcing something and then not being able to deliver. But one of them would be something relaunched some that we had previously, and perhaps a new product that would also come to market...” ~Kodak Alaris’s EMEA regional business unit Manager Andy Church 1/1/2021
So there’s a chance, they already kinda have films for a lot of other common purposes so they may branch out. I think it’d be a good move for them to have a more wild stock like aerochrome.
@@Derginator I saw that but didn’t wanna get my hopes up! 😄
@@panelsandbars1529 I’m not getting my hopes up either cause they promised a Super 8 camera a few years ago
Totally getting my hopes up.
@@Derginator guess I’m lucky I got one for $4 at a yard sale
The price of aerochrome 10 minutes ago: “yeah it’s pretty expensive but it is discontinued so...”
The price of aerochrome 5 minutes ago because grainydays uploaded about it: “he’s just Kendal Jenner’d the sht out of it”
Nah nah that shit been mad expensive since like March when aerochrome.shop ran out of their stock
Laughs in 2022 prices.
The reason the barrier turned yellow is, aerochrome has three emulsions. One green sensitive emulsion that is then dyed blue, one red sensitive that is dyed green and one IR dyed red. Since the red bin reflects red and IR it looks green + red = yellow after development. Also the reason you need a (according to the datasheet) yellow filter, is that all three layers are blue sensitive and a yellow filter gets rid of blue light but lets through the rest of the spectrum.
I see you flexing the PRO400H in the fridge
Kodak Aerochrome: See The World through the eyes of Dr. Seuss.
That subtle hue shift to red with the plants in the background is a very nice touch, amazing video as usual Jason.
I still have two 120 rolls of fresh aerochrome in the fridge bought 2 years ago, but it feels more like having two gold bars than film rolls
35mm rolls are already rare enough but 120 rolls?? I'm jealous
I’ll trade you for some 400h😂😂😂
FYI if I recall correctly, this was an aerial observation film for reconnaissance planes in WW2. Helped scout out emplacements with camo that would stand out against the red
For anyone interested in the aerchome look I had one of my old camera bodies converted to a full spectrum infrared camera then purchased a kolari vision ir chrome filter. I mainly use vintage adapted lenses so the look is close to authentic as can be.
Yes! I love aerochrome and infrared. So happy you mentioned Richard Mosse. My professor in college was his colorist for "Enclave" and his more recent project, "Incoming" which if you ever have the chance to see I highly recommend it. It's shot entirely on a military thermal camera.
Please world, let me watch this one video before the snowstorm kills my internet
I hope you have a great day, Baxter
(Tell Baxter I said that)
All these images looked amazing !!!! And the fact that Kodak themselves commented is crazy!
Nice to see Jason appearing in a cameo role on this Baxter video
Used a couple of rolls of this stuff back in 2018 and fell in love. Glad to see your incredible photos with the good stuff.
The Kolari IR Chrome filter on a IR converted full spectrum camera is one of the ways to get the Aerochrome "look." I just use my 590nm converted camera and adjust in post - sometimes will use the RNI Aerochrome presets to assist with color options. The RNI presets does make it possible to just use on non-IR images.
When I get a mirrorless eventually, deffinitly getting it full spectrum modified just so I have a totally different reason to use it compared to my Rebel T6 or Rebel Ti
Your enthusiasm is contagious man!
On watching this episode again I just so wish film companies brought out random film types just to mix things up from time to time. Oh and best episode ever 😊
Glad to see 35mm got some more love. Lately I've got the feeling it's worthless and I had to buy a medium format camera but this showed me that my Canon AE-1 can still be a nice camera.
Ive got the same feeling but I recently got some scans back and they proved why I shoot my canon a1
35 is nice, the issue is scanning it right it's a bit harder. That's at least why I kind of love my MF a little bit more
I saw The Enclave at the National Gallery here in Melbourne a few years ago and it was incredible! The soundscape they used with all of the stills and video was mental.
Killer video mate.
Here I thought I would not be watching a new video on this film. Then, this pops up, a week before I plan on shooting my roll. So cool!
always loved your opening and ending sequence
“Infra” was the project that inspired me to get into film. Love this film so much! 😭
I wouldn’t mind you doing a film loading asmr in the dark video to Lofi Hip Hop
The red snake plant is a nice touch!
life is great when grainydays and bad flashes upload at the same time
Great video, awesome photos! Love that farmhouse.
Yooo the vibes on this video are nuts
The change of color of the plant (in the right corner), and last animation...well done
Just stunning, great job dude
Kolari Vision developed an infrared filter, that faithfully reproduces Aerochrome when used with full-spectrum digital camera. They have comparison on their website.
Thanks for the info. I bookmarked their website and will check it out.
Planning to buy one once I send my M200 in for full-spectrum conversion (with life-pixel because they're way closer), alongside
A pile of other filters, will be interesting to test in astrophotography too since that's how I got obsessed with photography in the first place
Dude this film has such a weird futuristic vibe to it! They need to bring it back!
Really cool film I didn't even know existed. Also I really like that you shared other artists in this video!
Always like seeing your work, amazing channel.
Never stop posting ✋!
Appreciate the infrared plant in the background!
This is awesome! Great images and the commentary is outstanding as usual.
I really like the appeal of happy accidents that seems inherent when shooting film. Grainydays inspires me even with the excessive self-deprecating humor.
Great way to start my morning, daddy grain drops a video
I just happened upon this while high- this is amazing and we need more of this guy.
I've been waiting my whole life for this video.
My days do i love your videos
Gorgeous shots. Hope Kodak brings this film back.
Yesss!!!! I’ve been waiting for this!!!
I'm working in remote sensing and we're using infrared cameras to automatically separate vegetation from other things (via NDVI, "Normalized Difference Vegetation Index"). Seeing this was nice, now I'M interested in the film myself :D
God I wishes Kodak still makes this film. It’s so otherworldly.
3:20 looks like it’s from the game No Man’s Sky, cheers for the memory lane Jason!
What a way to enhance reality. Maya Beano has some really dreamy work with aerochrome too. I took a break from shooting super 8 to save money, but now I might have to pivot my expenses elsewhere...
amazing those photos looking really amazing 😍.
My favorite beach. 20 minutes from my spot. Shot a lot of my favorite photos there. Love these shots! Got to try some of this!
Wow dude! I love all the shots in the Video! I really feel like this is your absolute A game up tp this point in rrgards of composition and framing.
Extremely pleasing to look at pictures.
The aerochrome look is like the cherry on top.
Those abandoned houses were such a rad spot to shoot at!
Here I was lying on my bed fighting post mountain trip depression. Right on time man!
Strangely beautiful.
I remember it as Kodak Infrared Aero Ektachrome, Process E4, ASA 100? I remember seeing it used for a lot of LP album covers in the 1960's, when Process E4 was still available at the "corner drug store." I recall that a color photo of a well-camouflaged sniper would really stand out from "the natural world," but I've never seen THAT image. I shot a roll of IAE with a Yellow filter and marveled at the red foliage and the black of objects painted green. Then I went back to Ektachrome and Kodachrome, since Reality is mind expanding.;)
The first shots are so good I had to like it. Good job!
I knew the moment i heard you had a few rolls of this, the vid was gonna be fire.
love the shots
This film is amazing.. Looks so awesome. Would love to get a new version of this :D
Love aerochrome! I did a video on it two years ago comparing it with Lomo purple too!
I´m in Love with your Channel and super thankful for your content, you are such a HUGE Inspiration, thank you ! Ps: You are WAY to underrated, i really hope that you´ll grow but i guess Quality is better than Quantity, your Community is lovely. keep it up Jason.
Dang. I really want to try this. Sigh... Love the one of the boat man.
These shots are siick😆 F*cking love your videos man👊🏻
Love those colours
Magical film, and such a good video on it! There's a Bob Dylan portrait shot on Aerochrome by Elliott Landy. Best Aerochrome shot I've ever seen!
I have only read the first 200 pages of the Kodak fan fiction and I have to say the character development is on point..
Vericolor 5072 is an absolute dream to shoot with I shot a roll back in the 80s when I worked in a government photo lab, great stuff.
Awesome video my dude! That Bonsai tree looked killer
this was your funniest yet hahah (great shots too)
Why am I only now finding your channel? I really like your style! Keep up the great work.
You sick Dread 😄 Keep up the good work, love your channel... Aerochrome rocks.
You r my favorite film photo channel. Great content in all aspect. Best wishes from Budapest, Hungary
Clicked for the film, stayed for the "Aerochromed" sansevieria at the back.
The red snake plant is a nice touch
I see Kodak Aerochrome - I like.
I need this, thanks for letting me know what more i need.
This whole video is fire!!!
Awesome video. The results look fantastic!
I also made a video on infrared, but it isn't as good :)
First time I heard of it glad it was on this channel
i woke up from my covid depression sleep just in time
so much inspiration, so little hope of fruition
Jason you magnificent film beast
nice color changing plant u got there
Beautiful, the film stock too
You have no idea how fast I clicked this video. Aerochrome inspired me to pick up photography - I took up digital infrared for a while before moving over to film in the hope that one day I might be experienced enough to shoot a roll of aerochrome. I've since realised I might not be worthy until it's too late...
(You might recognise my profile picture from a collection you mentioned in this video!)
I don't do drugs anymore, so thanks for this safer alternative.
Soooo beautiful 😫
Great video, love the deadpan humour 👍
Honestly there probably bringing back kodachrome. I ain't complaining as much as I want this film
Love all your yt movies AND your photos❤️ regards from EU✌🏼✌🏼✌🏼
Love it 😍
I want to try this film too.
i literally wanna hug you.
also missed the infrared edit on the snake plant last clip sorry love you.
I enjoyed that. Photography, irony and swearing in video. Sounds like chrismas to me.
The attic darkroom did a trichrome photography using ifrared film, they actually did get similar results, but there's a lot of difficulty getting red to come through an infrared film and they had to overstep something like 5 stops to make it work.
BOO @ 5:43 .... that's some jam in the middle of a PB&J sammy... when you bite in and get that strawberry goodness....
This video is just so damn enticing-- the reds, the humor, the Kodak comment. Everything. 🤌
A small idea to help with inspiration for the next roll -- clear glass reflects infrared light like a mirror
