wt8012 To my Knowledge, that might just be the VERY time that Brian May has *EVER* Been Funny in Public - he seems to find it fairly unexpected and surprising himself..... And that already has factored-in the half decade in the late 80s where he and his wife would accompany each other to EVERY Interview the other was invited to give, and sat there together on adjacent chairs, whilst rockin’ *EXACTLY* the same haircut. A lot of ppl are shocked to find this man's doctorate was not just given to him by some university looking for publicity because he was interested in astronomy. He went to school like everyone else, completed his thesis, met all the requirements- and is actually a very well-respected figure in his field. It doesn't seem possible- to be as good at guitar and music in general, harmonies especially- as he is- and also have enough time and energy left over to be a well-respected PhD in astronomy- it's insane. And not only was he in one of the greatest bands of all time and helped write some of the most famous songs of all time- he also literally put the Vox AC30 amp on the map and created a signature tone with it- using handmade electronics- that ppl chase to this day and can't replicate. He was one of the first guitarists to ever use the Range master circuit- a treble boost he ran into the Vox to get that super saturated lead sound everyone loved so much- but since he also built his own guitar- electronics and all- he got a unique sound no one else can figure out. Some combination of his hand wound pickups played into that rangemaster through the Vox AC30- will give you the lead tone from "Queen Killer". But according to him you also have to crank the Vox wide open which means you better have it in another room- isolated, and mic'ed. Otherwise it's going to blow your ear drums.
"It's the pursuit of knowledge, Darling" was one of my favorite passages. It was beautifully explained and everybody strucked by his ability to instill the minds of young audience. Love it..
Brian May's voice is so soothing that even if I don't understand much about what he's talking about space and all these knowledge about what he studied, it seems interesting and I am all ears for him.

When I'd found out that Brian May had received his doctorate in Astrophysics; I was apprehensive. Cause it's not like even the most prestigious institutions have "sold diplomas" (wink wink); but within 3-4 mins of the original interview, he proved that he'd worked for it. Good stuff...
Brian May is such a gem of a man. A fabulous musician and an equally fabulous scientist! I have rarely come across someone who is an expert in such diverse areas... not just an expert but well known around the world. The TRUTH, Dr. Brian is you COULD AND CAN. You HAVE the interest, the knowledge, the honesty, the Piety ,that Patrick had along too with the mesmeric audience capture when (he) you speak. The others trailing on the Sky at Night wagon (though nice folk) don't hold a candle to you . And I believe Patrick would be sad mate.
There certainly is plentiful scientific evidence that the cosmos is nothing but dust and life is nothing but dirt. Very gracious of him to consider all species of beings as equal, and being a musician and a scientist and certainly a humanitarian if not also human to consider himself to be no better than a badger and his poems, lyrics and songs themselves to be no better than a tree.
Why hasn't Brian received a knighthood. Did he refuse one? He has brought so much honour to the UK in his musical and charitable contributions that he surely deserve that great accolade.

Brian May such a versitile, vibrant and humble person. One of the greatest musians alive, scientist. I am a great admirer of Queen band and Brian May.
Rock God. Astrophysicist.
He calls himself "Dr. May" ---- so methinks he prefers the latter title over the former

Oh, he definitely had to!
He says it with the exact same inflection. A part of Freddie lives on.
But of course, Darling.
