When I saw Bohemian Rhapsody, I was amazed at how well they had recreated Brian May's voice. I remember commenting on it to the people I was watching it with. Now I have heard Brian May say that even his children couldn't tell the difference between the actor and their own father. That's pretty impressive.
I'm pretty sure they just grabbed the actual Brian May out of a time machine when he was younger. Rami Malek was phenomenal as Freddie, and next to him was the actual Brian.

A friend of mine bumped into Brian and Roger in the lobby of the Cleveland hotel they were staying in on their Hot Space tour. She said both guys were really open and friendly.
I met him and Roger when I was working on a particular leg of a tour Queen we’re doing. Bumped into them backstage and started to speak. They stopped and seemed to genuinely want to chat to me snd make me feel welcome, but I completely froze and went blank so they moved on. Kick myself over that, to this day.
he also made every song cooler...like the corniest 80s Queen song is still awesome cause halfway through Brian would come on and just rip it and everything is ok again lol

I bet in interviews he gets asked about Freddie as much as himself. Everybody seems so interested in Freddie. I guess in part because he’s not here anymore so he’s a bit of an enigma.
Literally this interview could go on and on for hours and I wouldn't complain about it for a second. I love hearing him talk so much, the way he expresses himself, his voice, his body language. He's truly a real gentleman and the most sweet, kind musician ever❤️❤️❤️
Brian is a doctor, a CBE, musician and he helps hedgehogs other wildlife in the UK like foxes and badgers. That personally makes me want to meet him more. If I could I would want to meet some of the hedgehogs he’s helped rescue from his garden in surrey. He’s such a sweetheart and humble man!
I love Brian's music but I think my favourite thing about him is how he went back to University and studied and worked for his doctorate. Having seen so many celebrities and pseudo-celebrities scoop faux 'honourary' awards, to see someone like Brian put in the graft essential to earn such a luxurious title is great to see!

In the 80s as a rock guitarist in australia, i met many touring bands. Out of all the rockstars i ever met, Brian was the best. The nicest, most genuine and humble guy. An english gentleman.
However much I'd like to be on first name with this guy, I'll always consider him a sir. Look at the legacy, look at how he interacts with people. Many knights could learn a lot from him... Always so humble despite being a commander ;) best wishes Brian, if you're reading along... You deserve more.
Gosh I love Brian May. Such a gentleman. I was so happy for him when he got his Ph.D. I'm a physics person too and that is no small feat. He's right to be proud of it.
Dr. May CBE I am 76 and new to Queen. I was in an an acapella choir in high school and remembered how our directive was always to focus on our conductor. I have watched your face and eyes as you played with Freddy Mercury. And it was the same. Your eyes never left him, You mesmerized me with your concentration on Freddy’s movements and music. OMG. What a band mate and musician you are.
Apart from everything else, I really appreciate how Brian just says things how they are: He tells us about all his great accomplishments, the PhD, CBE, etc. and how he's proud of them in an honest way, without bragging but also without this annoying, all-too-common fake humbleness.
When I watched Bohemian Rhapsody, it really seemed like a time traveling Brian May was playing him in that movie. So hats off to the actor, he really nailed that part.
It is hard enough to get a Ph.D. when you are in your twenties or thirties. But to pick up again decades later ...and to actually complete that dissertation is unimaginable. Congratulations, Dr. May, for your contribution to Astrophysics, but more so for your music.
He has probably been financially secure for many decades now and had his music career for such a long time so he probably has had the time and money to do it in later life that other regular folks might not have had.

Our two sons are also accomplished musicians so again your music gets an A plus from them. I’m a writer/school teacher so I notice a gifted writer when I see his/her words and yours is awesome. I didn’t start listening to Queen until just a few months ago because I am a late bloomer (six children) and started college and graduated. It wasn’t easy with a husband on tour during that time and having my sixth child a couple of months before I graduated. I am going for my doctorate and writing my desertation on Queen so I read a lot on you all. The reason I am just getting acquainted with your music and Queen is because I was studying nonstop. I absolutely loved Gwilym in Bohemian Rhapsody! He captured Brian so much as a person that I could hear the analytical scientist's brain (as well as the humility) in his voice as though it came straight from May.

I remember thinking at the time that if you played me audio of Gwilym and Brian saying the same thing in the same way, I would struggle to differentiate between the two. When even Brian's kids can't, well what can you say to that? Uncanny performance.

Amazing album "Back To The Light". I loved it as soon as it was released, many years ago. Very touching and, ultimately, exactly as Brian is as a man. Also attended to the concert in Buenos Aires; it was so emotive, that I cried. What can I say, love the man !

I remember thinking at the time that if you played me audio of Gwilym and Brian saying the same thing in the same way, I would struggle to differentiate between the two. When even Brian's kids can't, well what can you say to that? Uncanny performance.
Personally I think freddie was poorly casted. He looks nothing like him imo. Gwilym was perfect
@@butter2221 He brought the right vibe to the part, but the appearance disconnect wasn't something it was easy to let go of. Freddy had such a 'just so' face, it would be hard to match his actual appearance.
@@kryw10 the voice is similar, but he doesn't really act like him either he's always making a weird face that I've never seen freddie have.

Amazing album "Back To The Light". I loved it as soon as it was released, many years ago. Very touching and, ultimately, exactly as Brian is as a man. Also attended to the concert in Buenos Aires; it was so emotive, that I cried. What can I say, love the man !
I’m not a big queen fan, nor Mays work. But he’s a very humble man considering his legacy and fame. Interesting guy and that makes me want to finally dig into his catalogue more.
