Goldeen being used instead of magikarp is a reference to an early episode in the anime where misty sent out goldeen to fight on land and it just flopped around like a fish out of water. Goldeen has been used for the same purpose in smash since 64, and it didn't go over everyone's head at the time because it was still fresh

And here Misty had the gall to berate Ash. Which is warranted, to be sure, back then in the early seasons. But she wasn't in any good position either to be doing that kind of talk. She had like, how many months, or even more, owning those Pokemon? Way more than Ash has, at that point. Should have known better at this point that ordinary fish looking Pokemon like Goldeen, is useless out of water. But she did that anyways, when trying to first face off against Team Rocket.

In BOTW you can walljump in the traditional sense, the guy in the video just didn't do it. If you hold down and press x while climbing link will jump away from the wall immediately from his climbing position.

Ridley's basically a giant bird dragon and birds have hollow bones, which makes them very light so they can fly. His makes way more sense than anyone else.

To answer this question, according to Final Fantasy 7 guide Books, Sephiroth unleashes Supernova in an alternate universe, meaning the Earth you watch him blow up, is not the earth that is shown for Battlefield.
Is it stupid? Absolutely,
A possible explanation for the Sephiroth final smash : he doesn't destroy the solar system, instead he's putting the destruction as an illusion in his opponents' minds to drive them crazy, thus the random effect.

Nonono, what he does that he uses the summon spell on himself to create a false solar system in a pocket dimension, then releases the energy throught the rift to cause massive damage.

I have two things about the wall jump. First, Luigi canonically can wal jump, he's been able to since New Super Mario Bros. DS, I don't know why they never gave him one in Brawl and beyond. Second, Little Mac has one of the best wall jumps in the game. Why does Little Mac, the only ground-based character in the game, have the ability to wall jump at all?

For those wondering, Supernova, Sephiroth's Final Smash, is supposed to be an illusion. While he inflict to his opponent some fire damage to make it more believable, the whole point of the attack is to cause despair to the point of madness to his enemies. In FFVII, the attack inflict random negative psychological conditions to Cloud and his teammates, which is also what happen in Smash.

The Goldeen splashing around is actually a reference to one of the first episodes of Pokemon. Misty grabs a random PokeBall from a poke center rack while under attack from team Rocket and Goldeen comes out and just splashes around.
For the Water-Type Pokémon Squirtle and Greninja drowning, just because they're Water-Types doesn't mean they can breathe underwater.
Plus they could get exhausted from swimming.

Smash Bros is just the video game universe's Toy Story. Invitations to Smash are letters sent to video game characters asking for their likeness to be used to make trophies, dolls/figures, and for the Smash Bros simulation, digital models. Video game characters get bored too, so they have their own video game to play where avatars of themselves beat eachother up. We are just playing a video game within a video game
Spehiroth Final Smash is actualyl super easy to explain
It's an illusion, and he summons the people hit with supernova to another universe, which is why the regular one where he's in stays inteact
This is actually false, as both the original and Crisis Core ultimania's say that it is indeed a real attack, but summons are able to create dimensions of their own, with something like Knights of The Round being able to destroy them, and in his Safer form, Sephiroth gains the power to do the same, and as Advent Children and all future versions of Sephiroth are explicitly as strong or stronger than Safer Sephiroth, he retains that ability. Although not canon to FF7, Dissidia also confirms that the attack can even destroy seperate dimensions, and Supernova has never once been stated to be an illusion
@@poliorice3600 No. It's an illusion, because it being real cleanly contradicts the story, but the characters definitely think it's real. It's like the science study, the Thomas Theorem, that says if you think it happened, then it physically happened, like the finale of Danganronpa 2. It's still extremely impressive that the characters beat a mental version of the attack though
@@highlandave8507 Supernova, very explicitly, destroys dimensional space, it shares an animation with Knights of The Round and othersuch summons, which according to Crisis Core, can all create entire dimensions, and in the case of Knights of The Round, destroy them, and Sephiroth far exceeds most of them upon reaching his Safer form. Not that it matters if supernova is real, as the lifestream, in the Remake ultimania, is stated to have the power to create universes. If you do not count Zack fighting Minerva as canon, then Meteor still has the power to contend with the lifestream, which Sephiroth does not need the black materia for as he can call on it from other timelines, which is what his Divine Proclamation attack is, so even if supernova were an illusion, something never once hinted at, Sephiroth has a far more powerful option

i think i can explain the size one. so basically olimar is actually standing REALLY close to the screen and ridley is REALLY far away. this give the illusion that they are actually bigger/smaller than they really are.

B) I think in FF7 it's kind of implied Sephiroth is doing Illusions, like he does to mess with your head for the whole game. That's why it can't actually kill you in FF7, no matter what. It only does fractional damage.

Well for FF7, everytime supernova is mentioned in material, like Crisis Core, it is very much similar to the summons wherein Sephiroth creates a dimension for the attack, this is also supported by Dissidia and Remake
Y'all exposing yourselves with Sephiroth's final smash. They fall asleep cuz it is a reference to the move in the game as it had random effects on the party. In smash it can even insta-kill. Sakurai showed it in his demonstration smh.

For 17, I think they did that because in the anime, it was a running gag where Misty would often try to use Goldeen in a battle on land...only for it to just flop around on the ground. And Misty's Goldeen was seen more than Magikarp in the anime around the time
And Magikarp at least can damage with using Flail
Mewtwo is canonically lifting most of its weight with his own telekinetic abilities. That's why it stands on its haunches.

To the Jigglypuff using Sing on herself- You kinda have to put effort into doing the singing yourself. Same reason why you can’t put yourself to sleep using anything else unless it’s pre-recorded and played back to you.
my take on why all the characters fight is that it’s basically just fight club. every Sunday they go and beat the shit out of each other to relax because they’re the only ones powerful enough to fight each other safely without killing anyone.

How does the Jigglypuff one not make sense? It's a pokemon move. So why wouldn't it work on another Jigglypuff? Call this dude stretch armstrong cause he's reaching for some of these and straight nitpicking on others. Its a game. It's not that serious lol

Sing can affect other Sing users (outside of Soundproof obviously). Heck even the robot one isn't that odd when you consider mechanical/artificial pokemon like the Klink, Porygon, and Magnemite families are still affected. Sure they're not robots per say, but they aren't exactly "organic" either...

So here’s the thing behind sephiroth final smash. Sephiroth himself is not actually summoning a mentor to cause a supernova, but is instead casting the character into a different timeline where one is occurring. Why it does so little damage I don’t know. It should do way more
For the Mario galaxy stage: lasers are light and don’t have mass. Therefore they are unaffected by gravity. Items like the drill have mass and gravity can act upon them

The Goldeen thing, which has been around since 64, is a reference to the Pokemon anime, where Misty’s sisters in the Cerulean gym only have a Goldeen and all it can do if splash. Mystery solved.
Sephiroth's final smash is psicological, that's why it doesnt destroy nothing, And leaves an effect on the characters, it's just psicological damage

Warner Bros. had the guts to do what Sakurai couldn't, and actually added a Giant into their roster, you gotta give them credit for that.

Good video - RUclipsr "Infinite Bits" has a number of great "Don't make sense videos".
Goldeen is grandfathered in at this point, Goldeen has always been the useless pokemon, all the way back to 64. And Goldeen was originally chosen because of a running gag in the anime where Misty's Goldeen would come out/be sent out and just flop around uselessly

8:17 I can explain that because Ice Climbers is the only character that can truly "desync." Rosa just fires Luma farther away from her and continues to attack with her, and Ice climbers is the only character that can hold two items at a time.
Also, everyone being around the same size was because they had to scale up/down the smash characters, otherwise Ridley and Rosa would take up the entire screen, or you wouldn't be able to see olimar with how small of an adventurer he is.
And for the awkward stages, everyone in that scene gave their concent for the characters to fight.
The stages were shrunk down to size.

Sephiroth's Supernova is him teleporting himself and the party into an alternate dimensional space (our universe) and then causes a supernova that destroys it entirely.
They survive that because they are just that strong.
Whether it's our universe or a copy of their own isn't very clear, as Gaia is explicitly shown to be in the same place and at least a similar solar system to Earth. It could even just be Sephiroth teleporting them to a different timeline, as Sephiroth himself can do that
Meanwhile Zack gets teleported to a moon busting attack himself, survives that. Then later dies to a stray normal bullet.

fun fact: Sephiroth is tied in weight with Pikachu, Kirby, Olimar, and Mewtwo. They all have weight values of 79. Also, Sephiroth is the lightest DLC character, while Terry is the heaviest. (If you don't count Piranha Plant, because he's heavier than Terry.)
Here's a real conundrum: Why does Pit have more jumps than Charizard? Pit can't fly!

For the mario galaxy stage, energy projectiles aren't affexted by gravity, while physical ones are.
3:05 is because in Wind Waker and the games Young Link is in, there isn't a button to jump. Link automatically jumps when you go new ra ledge at speed. BOTW link jumps with a button.

All of this was explained in Nintendo 64 Super Smash Brothers with a combination of the intro, single player classic, and design. I believe there was an interview confirmation for this too. This game story wise is similar to Toy Story (is the easy explanation), but the truth in the ending is you decide what the outcome of who wins between Mario vs. Pikachu for example. Also what the rules are, what is at stake, and therefore creating a unique experience that has become a series.
The only explanation I have for any of these, is the simple fact that it’s a video game. It doesn’t have to make sense.
Hot take to follow up with what Vikki said about making Ganon a sword character: THERE WILL NEVER BE ENOUHGH SWORD CHARACTERS, let alone fire emblem characters

The Super Smash Bros series is actually a kid playing with toys of his/her Nintendo&gaming characters and is imagining these fight scenarios like an imaginary fun party/convention!

I did think the Sephiroth thing was kind of weird, so i looked it up. I found a website which stated:
"A massive blue light is seen shooting into the milky way, where it proceeds to disintegrate Pluto, blow up the rings of Saturn, and annihilate Jupiter, before striking the sun. This sends out a shockwave that destroys Mercury and Venus and then hitting the party for 15/16ths of their full health."
So Supernova is clearly some sort of illusion. Even in the game he comes from it clearly doesn't actually blow up the entire solar system and cause the sun to supernova. Also, he can use it multiple times in a fight and a star can't supernova more than once.
Actually Sephiroth and Ridley make sense cause Sephiroth’s Final smash is simply just an illusion and Ridley was the same size as Samus in 1
