A Tour of the Triangulum Galaxy [4K]

  • The Milky Way is surrounded by more than 50 near neighbour galaxies that make up the Local Group. The two largest galaxies are us and Andromeda, but we also have an often-overlooked third large galaxy in our neighbourhood- the Triangulum Galaxy. This galaxy is like its own mini-Milky Way, containing stars, clouds, clusters, supernova remnants, and satellites. These are the checkpoints in the Triangulum Galaxy which make up our tour today.

    • @houserhouse
      @houserhouse 3 месяца назад +2

      @@Gregg69420 I've always been fascinated by it because the milky way and andromeda pull in all the attention because of their sizes. Another excellent video. Of all the challenging concepts, I think the whole idea of passing galaxies that don't involved colliding stars is the hardest perspective. We see these galaxies as small, compact objects that seem to have its galactic star population all crammed together. Then contrasting angular size with cosmic distances one can get a better appreciation for the space between the stars. But it is a hard thing to picture. You do a great job making it possible to imagine.

      @galacticbob1 Год назад

      If you send your "next-door neighbor" galaxy friend a message such as, "let's go to the park," then in 3 million years or so they will receive it.
      They will send a reply like, "no thanks mate, maybe next week," and in another 3 million years your descendants will receive the reply, and be disappointed on your behalf.
      Now consider that our predecessor species Homo Habilis was around about 2 million years ago. Your disappointed descendants 6 million years from now would most likely be several species' worth of separation from the you that sends the invitation today! And that's to send a message to our next-door galactic neighbor. 🤯
      "Space [...] is big. Really big. You just won't believe how vastly hugely mind-bogglingly big it is. I mean, you may think it's a long way down the road to the chemist, but that's just peanuts to space." -Douglas Adams

    Imagine thousands of years or maybe millions of years from now when we’re long gone and the technology will allow us to have a portal experience to these galaxies and other far reaches of the universe.

      Won’t matter cuz you’ll be long gone by then and we are more likely to go extinct then colonize the galaxy
