Arkansas' Gasaways get their engraved 150th KY Derby for Mystik Dan

If you're in Arkansas, there's a chance you'll be seeing Mystik Dan's historic 150th Kentucky Derby winner trophy on display somewhere. In what's become a tradition, Mystik Dan's owners, jockey, trainer and breeder got their engraved trophies during the Stephen Foster card at Churchill Downs. And this year Mystik Dan's owners got the custom made gold trophy with emeralds and rubies standing in for the blanket of roses. We speak with some of the owners after the presentation. From left to right: Brent Gasaway and wife Sharilyn, Lance Gasaway (first cousins with Brent) and his fiancee B.J. Harris. The Gasaways also bred Mystik Dan, earning a silver trophy like trainer Kenny McPeek and jockey Brian Hernandez. The Gasaways and their partners Daniel Hamby and Scotty Hamby became the first Arkansas-based owners to win the Derby since W. Cal Partee became the first to do so in 1992 with Lil E. Tee.
