Fierceness lost the Derby the moment he was *born*. Sire and dam avg win distance is 7.0F and 6.7F. Reminds me a tiny bit of Holy Bull from back in the day. Not ready to win longer distance races off major efforts at this point. Can't recall a Derby winner that had 2+ 3rd or worse finishes as an even money favorite or lower within their last 4 races (or even lifetime). Arguably shameful management of the horse to target a race he was not suited for in terms of breeding & development/base/vulnerability.
Well, you got everything right...except for Fierceness. I had Dan wrapped around everything, calling the last race a slight bounce.
