Maybe I'm alone on this, but Medved's game reminds me of Bjorn Borg's a little bit. Obviously different body types, but the backhand two-hander has that similar hitch and the way he stands way back behind the baseline on the return. Even the way he covers the court in spite of his height. But yeah, I realize that Medved's not a clay court player. He just gives me some Borg vibes.
don't see the Bjorn comparison, if anything he is in many ways a better Andy Murray. Both super defensive baseliners very hard to hit through, Daniil has the more reliable and stronger serve and forehand, maybe backhands are even.. Bjorn backhand looks like Ferrer/Youzhny anyways and his play style much more similar to say Federer, baseliner with all round game and came into net on faster surfaces.
@@kenkozawa9810 Borg's backhand looks nothing like Ferrer or Youzhny. Misha hit a fluid one-hander. Borg was a very unique player and there is no one else in history who is truly like him. Not Federer either. But some aspects of Medvedev's game remind me of him.
@@JD-jc8gp first off, yes go look back at Ferrer's backhand, quite often he took one hand off his racket during the end of his swing. Lot closer to him and Youzhny than Daniil, otherwise clean your glasses. And yo we are talking about playing styles here. Bjorn is not that unique in today's game. He was unique in his era, yes, but his patient baseline driven game with net play adjusted for the surface was eclipsed by Lendl and Federer.

So basically Djokovic played at Augers level if you compare his final to this game? Not trying to take anything away from Medvedevs hard work but Djokovic could have done much better.
Didn’t Djokovic have a long hard match the day before while Medvedev got a rest day?... it’s psychological too getting a rest day to re focus on a new opponent. Big advantage to the rested. It happens a lot. They ought to try avoid such unfairness, especially when it is so important match.
@@RaphaelBas1995 curious... it seems to be a time zone issue.. sorry I was misled .. even by google which says Medvedev played Friday while Djokovic played Saturday and the final was Sunday. he didn't had the easiest draw, it's only because Ruud scwharzmann rublev and tsitsiphone didn't manage to win... otherwise his draw would have been more difficult than Djokovic's
Djokovic's draw was only difficult because the two seeds that were supposed to reach the quarters and semis actually did. Before that he had a qualifier, a guy ranked below 100, a guy he beat 17 times before, and then an American wildcard without a serve. He lost the opening set to three of these guys.

Medvedev played like a champ in this match especially in the second set being 2-5 down and winning the set by 7-5 was amazing..
This match was better than final in the hindsight
Wow....the 2nd set was just wow...wht a comeback from Meddy..

Medvedev is a sharp shooter with his flat shots from so far behind the base line
Medvedev hasn't played a single tiebreak at this US Open. Unreal.
Pleasure to watch these world-class players compete!!
Daniil Medvedev was simply unstoppable at the US Open 2021. He was the best player in the world.

Upload the highlights of Nole vs zverev that match was the best of this USO
Medvedev committed spectacular "qualicide" (qualifier homicide) in this match.
Great match from Medvedev!
Medvedev played well , the Canadian guy had no game plan .
The "Canadian guy" has got a name you know: Felix Auger-Aliassime.
I think that Canadian guy has a name and he definitely had a plan which didn't work but m not sure
