@@Ldenlord Actually, I no longer use the wiggle method. I was using it because I had teeth sensitivity. As it turns out, my wisdom teeth came in extremely aggressively, and I had them removed. Afterward, I use a different method where (let's imagine the top teeth), I start at the gum line and brush down vertically. This seems to polish the inside and outside teeth well without roughing up the gums. I will say, that I now religiously floss between all my teeth every night and it has helped me get rid of some very aggressive plague that used to form very fast. All in all, I'm doing well right now.
@@Deadlyaztec27 Do you think your brushing downwards method is better than the wiggle method? I think the wiggle method works well because like Dr. Supa shows in his video that plaque forms around the gum line. But, your method of brushing down from the gum line doesn't seem to focus on the gum line as much where the plaque is focused. I only found out about the wiggle method recently.
@@anunknownperson4018 I used to do the same, so i toned down how "aggressive" i was yet apparently after this video i have yet again learned i was still too aggressive lol. I never in my life would have thought to do "wiggle" motions and always hated soft bristles. Always used medium, did circular motions but made sure to get every inch of my tooth. Gonna try the wiggle method and not doing circle/side to side lol. That might explain why i'd have cavities once in a while.
Key points from this video: 0:47 - Most of the bacteria on your teeth live close to your gums. See important visuals. 1:26 - 3 common mistakes: side-to-side brushing; up-and-down brushing; and circular brushing. 3:11 - Press brush 45° towards gums and gently wiggle brush. 3:56 - Start from the back and finish at the back (on the other side). 4:20 - Most decay and gum diseases happens in the back. Don't miss the back. 5:11 - Go around your mouth 3 times (to cover 3 different surfaces - outside, inside, & top). Great video! And thanks for not only providing tips but also providing your rationale for those tips. 👍

Great educational video on how to brush your teeth correctly. The video should be shared with teenagers and school-age children. Never heard about the "wiggle," but it does make great sense. Thank you for taking the time to educate us all.
This video was uploaded when I was 20, today I have come across it 8 years later just to learn to brush well for the first time. Thanks for this video ❤
If u press brush to make its filaments fill vestibular/oral part of interdental gap it will probably take enough pressure to damage interdental papilla depending on strenght of the filaments (to avoid it - use medium soft or soft toothbrushes). In dental hygiene we always ask patients not to press too much - the main idea of brushing is to destroy plaque microstructure, not to "clean bacteria" so it is better to use less pressure but more frequent and tender wavings of toothbrush filaments. And if dental morphology makes no help - just use interdental toothbrushes or buy toothbrush with lesser head and clean teeth according to their structure. Or use sonic/rotating brushes with minimal pressure.
Thank you for this amazing and accurate presentation. 41 and learning to brush my teeth correctly and I've seen dentists in America, Canada, Australia and NZ. They all told me about gum recession and demonstrate versions of brushing. I have some mildly concerning gum recession that I need to get on top of! To think I knew it when I was a kid with braces!
This is very good, really needs to be taught often. Just telling someone to brush better does not help the patient. Physical demonstrations helps. Thank you.
Thank you for the video, helped me realize that I was brushing my teeth incorrectly for decades. Furthermore, this approach makes significantly more sense than other similar instructional videos.
I’ve never really known the importance of flossing, washing dishes with cold and warm water, as well as the correct method of brushing. This is making me think how much I’m doing wrong after all this time.
wow thanks for that! I believe most people don't know how to brush their teeth and your video shows all three mistakes that I make and a clear and understandable way of how to do it right!
38 and now learning the correct way, a blessing now i can clean my kids teeth the right way. Sad im learning this at an older age when not 1 dentist i ever encountered told nor taught me this
I just found this and tried it out for the first time. I feel it may change my dental life. A question: Do you recommend electric toothbrushes? Do they get the wiggle motion correct, or is manually moving the brush better? Also, how long should one spend wiggling in each spot? Thanks!
My new dentist told me today that I have receding gums thanks to aggressive brushing with electic toothbrush. He recommended to change my electric toothbrush with sensitive brush immediately into "manually moving extra sensitive brush" as it is much more gentle and you actually feel it better what you're doing. I then asked about the right technique for manual brushing and the dentist showed me exactly the same demonstration as this brilliant Supa Dental video. Sooo I would say, keep to the manual brush unless you already are a gentle brusher. My last dentist told me that if I want to continue using electric brush, I should keep the brush still on every tooth and very slowly move it on the side surface to the next tooth and let the brush do its wiggle on the way. I have been using the kind of brush that spins around and at the same time pulsates up and down a little. About the time... I can't say what is a good time for each spot, but the total time should be 2-3 minutes. If you divide that into the 3 rounds Dr. Supa told us to do, that's about 1 minute for each circle. 1min for out surface, 1min for inner surface and 0,5-1min for the top sides.
This is good advice. I can't stress enough the value of an electric (i.e. battery) toothbrush. They vibrate nice and fast, so you can use this method with very little wiggling. My kids had a lot of cavities until we switched to electric.
I just got back from a dental visit because of a chipped tooth and after x-rays was told I have early periodontal issues. My teeth look healthy but when you look at the top and bottom of my teeth.. lmao I almost cried my eyes out a few days ago cuz they said I had a lot of cavities out loud and one of the girls shook they’re heads at me. brush my teeth and more than my brother and somehow he doesn’t have any cavities and he eats more than me too. I’m so ashamed of myself. Kids take care of them teeth 😃.
@@Απρίλιος-β6γ Oh my, you should never brush your teeth 4 times a day, that's terrible advice. It will start to irritate the gum and actually remove flourid.
Well, if we all were using right techniques in the dental hygiene then we all would have perfect teeth and no one will go to the dentist
@@Απρίλιος-β6γ you only need 2 times a day
Whos here from CatBoyKami
Wow, very clear demonstration....I am forwarding this to the rest of my family, especially my teens. Thank you, Dr. Supa 😍
Thank you kami
Thanks Kami
Thanks kami! ''wow I didnt know that you're just telling me for the first time''
After living 21 years of life i realised how hard brushing teeth is.
LIKE WHY IS IT SO HARD 😭😭😭😭
I have to come back to say Thank You for this video!!! After I first seen this back in March, I've been brushing this way since, and I notice a difference. I cringe when I think about the things I wasn't doing for most of my life, but I can only do better from here on out.
Best video on how to brush! Thank you! Many years later! ❤
I'm so ready for clean teeth and fresh breath now that I know how to brush! Thanks Dr. Supa
How is your teeth and gum now ... Does this works for you?
Damn i am redpilled about teeth brushing . Thanks catboykami .
Oh boy the things we encounter when we get older 😞
Teeth hurt?
@@aeops9774 no the pain hurts hen you dont floss and other stuff
@@aeops9774 im not a dentist but you should try flossing once a week and progress from there, its to prevent bad stuff
😁
@@aeops9774 use a water floss if you’d like, it’s an easier experience
Thanks for this. The instructions for brushing make perfect sense now with your explanations. I need explanations in order for me to understand and accept things. Also, this is more comprehensive than something else I’ve seen. Thanks so much.
I like how he doesn’t just tell it’s wrong. He shows you why it’s wrong and corrects it.
You've been more helpful than my hygienist, that's for sure. Thanks to her instructions my receding gums have got even worse now :/
33 years of doing it wrong, now as a gift I have super residing gum line , now dentist wants deep cleaning every 3 months.
Oh brother sounds very bad. Hope everything works out for you its pretty hard maintaining proper teeth it seems
I've been brushing my teeth wrong
all my life. At 18 now I realise how it is actually done. Dr thank you so much.
I literally get my braces off in like 2 weeks and I’ve brushed my teeth like this because my orthodontist taught me how to brush like this. I hope my results are fantastic :)
cool telegram notification
thanks katboycami
Thanks Doc many times we learn things too late. But well better late than never like it is said Again great video thanks
OMG!!! 😱😱😱 And I found out I've been brushing my teeth wrong the whole time as well as my son's. Thank you Doc!
Wow, thanks! Never knew how to brush correctly until now. Just had a deep cleaning, im at the point now that I'll whatever I need to do to keep my teeth healthy.
Update: This works! See my 1 and 2 yr updates in the reply comments.
Same! I just had a deep cleaning today and holy cow. I started looking up how to properly floss and brush my teeth to never go through that hell again. How has this brushing method worked for you?
@@animeaddict1101 Wonderfully! I went back for my follow up and the dentist was so shocked at how well my teeth/gums recovered. I've been flossing at least once a day (before bed) and brush twice a day (morning/nite) using method. No bleeding whatsoever. Amazing. I know I sound like an advertisement or something, but it works lol. Takes consistency and it eventually becomes a habit.
@@animeaddict1101 wish you the best on your teeth recovery.
Oh my day I just went through the same hell and back, such pain is not humane. Now I'll do whatever it takes to not have to go through that again.
@@loveislove2359 Yeah, it's not fun having your gums scraped at. I have been brushing (and flossing) properly ever since that last post. No joke, my dentist and hygienist tell me to keep doing whatever I've been doing lol. It's funny that they never mentioned this, they just say to "brush". You can do it, do it every day and it'll become a habit. Easily save on dental bills and pain. Wish you the best on your healthy mouth journey! 😁🦷
true gamer technique
This makes so much sense. I have been doing all the stuff he says not to do and my gums are receding. I am going to try this method. I wish I would have known this 50 years ago. Thanks for posting this helpful video.
Best of luck :)
Awesome information! I had been doing a version of this technique but you have given a detailed way to brush my teeth better.
Thank you for elucidating in such a clear way doc

Thank you so much! I've been having bad cavities to my molars now and I figured that I just learn the proper way to dental care and start flossing
This is very good, really needs to be taught often. Just telling someone to brush better does not help the patient. Physical demonstrations helps. Thank you.
Thanks CatBoyKami
Thank you for the video, helped me realize that I was brushing my teeth incorrectly for decades. Furthermore, this approach makes significantly more sense than other similar instructional videos.
Thanks for the good education, i look forward to using a less random scrubing motion, and more of this 3 lap/3 side tactic
I was brushing my teeth wrong for thirty years. This video is life changing
Makes total sense. Thank you for sharing, finally (after 40 years of ignorance). Is there any machine that does the job for us?
I'm not aware of such machine but be sure to let me know. Then I wouldn't have to teach my patients on brushing :)
Yo I've been thinking the same like is there any machine that does the brushing for us.
Thanks kami
I’ve never really known the importance of flossing, washing dishes with cold and warm water, as well as the correct method of brushing. This is making me think how much I’m doing wrong after all this time.
wow thanks for that! I believe most people don't know how to brush their teeth and your video shows all three mistakes that I make and a clear and understandable way of how to do it right!
Wow no one explained it like that before. Thanks a ton ❤️ What are other doctors doing and what stuff do we teach in school 😦
You are never too old to learn, thanks for this wonderful video Dr. Supa's
thx Kami
Best explanation I heard about how to brush my teeth. Thank you Dr. Supa.
Do you have a video of your opinion on electric toothbrush?
Thank you. Your teaching was simple and clear.
Not a client of yours but thanks.

Ja
This is good advice. I can't stress enough the value of an electric (i.e. battery) toothbrush. They vibrate nice and fast, so you can use this method with very little wiggling. My kids had a lot of cavities until we switched to electric.
Thank you so much. Good wishes from Bangladesh 💓
This is the best demonstration on mistakes and proper teeth brushing. Thanks for the video!
i’ve been brushing my gums, but not in an angle. ty for the tips babe🤠💕
This is a very thorough tutorial. The others I watched left more questions than answers. Thank you!!!

After 18 years I now know how to brush my teeth properly, thank you sir.
