“And now that my life is so prearranged”…that line gets me every time and makes me want to empty the bank account, jump in the car, head for the Atlantic and never look back. I think that feeling you get [listening to this song] is a yearning for freedom and serenity.
I've always enjoyed this song too. As I watched Polo, I thought a caught a look in his eyes like, "This is the whitest song I've ever heard." I could be wrong, just my impression.
Cheesy? No. It is wonderful! All I can remember was that I had a very stressful job back then. I loved the work, but the stress was real. I’d get in my car at the end of the day and crank this song up. Forty minutes later I was back home, feeling like everything was alright in my world. This song is like a great big hug. Yet, it is exciting to be one with nature.
Happy to see LRB being discovered. I lost my big brother to cancer. LRB was his favorite band and Cool Change was a symbolic song for him. His happy place was the water. Peace.
I still have this album, and every once in a while, when i'm in the mood ,this is played and sung loud. Don't know why but this song always makes me cry. Happy tears, but tears none the less. Thank you for this, from a 71 year old!!!! ❤
I believe I was about 11-12 the first time I heard this song and it always sends me back to the summer of ‘79, spending 6 weeks at Panama City Beach, FL before all of the condos covered the beaches and you could actually SEE the beach from Beach Front Road, when the Miracle Strip Amusement Park was alive and jumping and I was young and carefree! Now you gotta hear Lady!!
Little River Band is one of the most under rated bands in music!! Have listened to them for so many years and love the music as much today as I did back in the day!
Takes me back to a time I had my own 34 foot sailboat and would listen to this. Sadly those times are gone and I can’t sail anymore but I still have this song to take me back.
This is one of my favorite songs, it's so beautiful. It takes me to the ocean. Remembering the first time I was on a sailboat & no land to be seen. I wasn't a wife, mother, or anything. Just Sandy breathing in the air.
Legend has it that the bands first gig was at the Little River pub, just outside Avalon Airport on the Geelong road near Melbourne, and when they came on stage the got into announcing them selves and realised they hadn’t sorted out a group name. They asked where they were and the audience replied “Little River” and that is supposed to be where the bands name came from. True or not a great yarn. Take care.
Such a talented band - another find by mom back in the day! Next should be "It's a long way there" which shows their full potential and much more upbeat. Lady or Reminiscing had to be their biggest hits.
Thanks for playing this song. It's one I haven't heard for a long time. As someone who has spent a little time floating in the ocean on a small boat and staring at the full moon, it really is something special. This song brings back those brief days. It almost brings tears to my eyes. And like some others have mentioned, brings thoughts of just packing it all in and heading for the ocean. To me this song highlights the foolishness of slowly killing ourselves chasing after "stuff" and other people's approval.
This song has a special place for me. 1979, just out of high school, this song was their encore, when I saw these guys on this tour, about a week before I enlisted in the Navy and took my first airline flight to boot camp in San Diego, to start a new life on my own, on the sea. Six of the best and worst years of my life. I wasn't cut out for a life in the Navy, but God how I loved some of the things I did and saw, and the people I met and friends I made in those formative years. It was indeed a cool change.
Little River Band is one of my guilty pleasures for 'Easy Listening' bands. They have a specific vibe when I'm in a nostalgic mood. "Lady", "Take It Easy On Me" or "Night Owls" are also good songs by them.
I do like Little River.Band but I have to be in the mood for it. I have a song and group you need to check out. I think it is right up your alley. The group is The Moody Blues and the song “Nights is White Satin”
I would they had incorporated more saxaphone in this song for the soul flavor. But this song I loved when I was young, forgot about it till today. Thx POLO.
This great band from Melbourne is among that group of fantastic music makers which is entirely under-appreciated in the US. Today this bunch of unknowns (in the US) include German band AMK, global star everywhere but in America, Robbie Williams, and Canadian singer Lara Fabian. Thanks for looking outside the box, Polo. ❤
1980 slow dance at our "TEEN TOWN"...trying to learn how to kiss 😆😆 But hey...the SAX is pretty cool...it was the times man 😉 ( i guess it was released 1979) This played on CKLW 80 AM station out of Detroit MI. YES...AM radio. Whoo...
I love this band and this song. I love and respect the ocean and growing up, I spent most summers at the beach so this song definitely speaks to me. Two more great songs from them are Reminiscing and Happy Anniversary.
Glenn Shorrock and the Little River Band. They were the first Australian band to get hits out of Australia, even before AC/DC. They hit in 1975. Tons of hits, "Lady," "Lonesome Loser," and "Reminiscing" to say the least. And all their songs sound different, too!
One of Australia's great of many many bands of the 70s 80s that need to be heard. Legendary LRB. My British friend in Bangkok used to teach music to artists, even some famous ones, and has a live music restaurant pub and says LRB Greatest Hits is his go to music!!

Little River Band has many good songs! Similar time period- check out Electric Light Orchestra (ELO) - Don’t Bring Me Down, Evil Woman, Mr Blue Sky, Sweet Talkin Woman, etc! ❤❤
I grew up loving harmonies in songs. So many groups when I was very young sang in (4-part) harmony. The 4 seasons. The 4 Lads. The Drifters. The 4 Freshmen. The Ink Spots. The Lettermen. The Mills Brothers. The Mills Brothers. The Platters. Frankie Valli & the 4 Seasons. The Staple Singers. The Everly Brothers (only 2 of them but great harmonies). The Supremes. But I have always loved this song for the feeling of getting back to nature. The song always made me feel like I was in the boat rocking slowly back and forth with the music. [Very happy to have found your videos just this last week. Also, glad that you have gotten to enjoy/appreciate some of our "old folks" music. And yes, I have subscribed. Happily.😊👋👍
I see you wore your fisherman’s cap for this.😂
😂
I heard he was a "longshoreman". 😂

@@brewswillis9783nope, just a really cool cat.
A highly under rated/under appreciated band.

Hit that one..spot on!
SO TRUE!! ❤❤❤
My thoughts exactly
Yes, I totally agree!
One of those songs that brings back the summers of youth.
Love this song. It’s spiritual…the love of nature…the simplicity. So moving.
I've always enjoyed this song too.
As I watched Polo, I thought a caught a look in his eyes like, "This is the whitest song I've ever heard."

You gotta be in the mood for them but when you are, there's nothing finer than them.
Little River Band....one of the bands of all time.
They were really good at that kind of music you might like if it’s your kind of thing.
This is an Aussie band and we have beautiful beaches and surf but we have incredibly hot summers. So to be sailing in the sea breeze is wonderful

Great band with so many great songs!

Definitely worth digging into this band

As a land locked double amputee that longs to be back on the water, this song brings tears to my eyes. Thank you for playing it.
Little River Band has multiple hit songs! ''Lady'' should be next!
Reminiscing, Take It Easy On Me, Lonesome Loser, Help Is On Its Way, Lady, and The Night Owls are awesome by Little River Band..❤❤
Takes me back to a time I had my own 34 foot sailboat and would listen to this. Sadly those times are gone and I can’t sail anymore but I still have this song to take me back.

I really like the way the chorus is never sung the same way twice. Nightowl and Lonesome Loser are Amazing!

This is great music.

Sleeper Catcher, 1978... wore it out in college. Greatness... if you love this, you will adore Gerry Rafferty "The Ark" from the City to City LP.

I loved them in 76, 77 etc. Veery good band!
I love this band and this song. I love and respect the ocean and growing up, I spent most summers at the beach so this song definitely speaks to me.

All of a sudden it's the 1970s and my sister is making me listen to LRB (on 3XY in my mum's Toyota)
Pure yacht rock, baby. Always loved Little River Band. John Farnham has a great voice.
❤ Have not heard in years and years.

1970's Australia and my childhood 🩵

Haven't heard this in a long time! Nice throwback!
Good one. I also love their song Reminiscing. Totally different vibe. Thanks, Polo.
