This car will be a lot of fun to build then drive. Surprisingly the 3 layers of paint come off relatively easy, the California sun must have baked it loose. So far the carousel red is still intact under all the layers. Wonder why it got painted
The 1969 trans am and 1969 GTO judge were My dream cars as a youngster. I would imagine myself Stepping into a dealership back in the day and in the showroom both cars sitting side by side. Looking a the window sticker and saying $3,700 seems reasonable I Will take both. If only that was possible
@VinylVillageGarage I feel that 👍 I was always drawn to the BOP cars. Pontiac being my favorite. My personal cars currently are a '79 firebird, 67 special, and a 68 firebird.
This is good timing, I just got a 69 Lemans that needs about the same amount of work, so I can just let you do all the hard lifting and learn from your mistakes. You better do a good job! 😁
Very cool! I like the 64 gto, I occasionally find a 64 lemans for sale and talk myself out of buying it every time. I have enough toys if that is even possible.
Jon, I am so looking forward to this build. I love the way you take your viewers through all the stages of restoring these Pontiacs and this one will make me miss my '69 Expresso Brown RA III GTO even more!!! Good luck with the sale of the VVG Headquarters!
Ram air car!! Wow to me those are out of my reach, I was so very happy to find this one and the owner was very generous on keeping it affordable for me to buy.
I hope your home sales and you get to move forward. I think you deserve a bigger play pen. You're wife sounds awesome. I very much enjoy your videos you make it look easy as it seems you've done it before.i have a 65 and a 69 goat so I watch and listen. I appreciate you very much, thank you.
Well Alrighty! My 'first of six' '69 Firebirds was 'overquartered'. So wide, it was missing the outside bumper brackets! New quarters were installed. Now to replace the bent front sub frame and get the rebuilt 400 & 4-speed reinstalled. Can't wait to see the GTO work in progress. Best of Luck on the home sale!

@ that is what I would wan to do myself. I built my garage years ago 24x36 it was a pole barn too. But that was 20 years ago not sure I want to man handle the sheetmetal to do the roof again.
Yeah it will definitely have its challenges, one being that the frame might be bent. The car was found in the back lot of a body shop without any front sheet metal. Of course the story goes no one knows why. The front frame where the bumper attaches is bent over so it’s had some type of collision. We shall see
Well buddy you got me beat I only have Birds here in the garage you have birds and a goat I would love to see you do your magic on the metal on the GTO and whatever you decide to do with the car I know you will make the right choice
Remember Jon…. Ratchet straps and “come-along’s” are your friend. 😊 An amazing wife you have if she is onboard with yet another car in the stable. If it needs to find a temporary home, there’s always the prospect of a storage garage.
It was sitting in a back lot of a body shop for several years just as you see in the thumbnail picture. Fortunately the engine was stored inside a building so it should be rebuildable.
Good luck with the sell of your home. Do you know where you want to move to? As far as the Judge, I know it's going to turn out spectacular. Can't wait to see the build.
Either way I'll be watching. If you get it finished then we'll all know if you're going to sell. I would recommend selling it to one of your followers. Maybe even get on the bandwagon and give it away!!! Look on RUclips, everyone is doing it.
Love your videos man. Just wondering if you have a previous video explaining how you started building cars, are you a body man/mechanic as a career? Ive gone back to the very start of your vids, but cant find anything, so far! Sorry no where else to post this question lol
Not yet! But that might be a great video. I went to school for auto repair vocational program in higschool then additional technical training provided by my employer when I was out of school. That covers the mechanical parts. As for the sheet metal and body work all self taught, Lots of books, magazines, and videos over the years but the biggest and most helpful was just getting my hands dirty and experience. many failures later now I can get the job done. But RUclips allows me to show you how things could be accomplished and skip all the mistakes and save loads of time.
I had a 69 GTO Convertible Judge clone, I also had a 69 Firebird at the same time miss em both! What’s up with the primer Firebird in the other side of your garage?
That primed bird is my very first one I had. I was in high school when I bought it. It’s in the process of a total redo. Drive line and metal work is complete. It’s in high build primer needs blocked out then painted. It’s close to the finish line.
It is the numbers matching block and #48 heads. Have the right intake but I don’t have the original carb. Transmission is supposed to be original as well. I will be checking it now the car is home. It was a California car for what I normally start with this is a rust free car.
Undecided, it really comes down to if and when we move, if the new place has a barn/big garage and I don’t have to build probably won’t sell. If I need funds to construct something new then it’s a possibility
John, i thought you already had an orange Judge. Ive seen it in the background of some of your older videos and and the end of this one. Where did that one go?

I agree I want to keep it part of the reason looking for someplace to move to. I don’t have a garage to keep it in if I want to still play cars. It’s depressing what’s available and how much people are asking for homes. Let’s just say what I am seeing the asking price is double what it was 5 years ago. And I am not making twice as much to cover the difference 🤷♂️

Oddly enough this is the most solid car I have ever bought. Not sure I will know how to fix it…… 🤣
The 68 & 69 GTO is my favorite body style Pontiac. Thank you for including this 69 GTO in your videos, I will enjoy watching you bring it back.

Awesome! I ordered a 1/4 panel and trunk deck yesterday for it. Did an assessment and the panel is too far gone to save.
