Looking to jump into the Maui sunglasses line. I've never owned this brand and was looking to get these models. What other Maui model would you recommend similar to these? Also adding- if i get these prescribed, do they use the same type of Maui lenses?
If you do prescription, book a virtual fitting with me and we’ll hook everything up the way it should be. There are a ton of different lens options for the rx program 😎. Pehu and red sands or pretty comparable. And doing rx a good choice with lenses other than the off the shelf Maui pure I speak of here 😁
I have three pair and love them!!! Props: lightweight, stay on my face if I get sweaty, and the branding is discreet so unless you look closely, you can’t tell I’m wearing expensive sunglasses. Only complaint I have is they are a little tall and get pushed up when I smile, but I just live with it.
Nice!! Hadn’t considered that this one lacks some of the more bold branding we see with Maui Jim (especially since the newest ekahi release this year).
@@ThatGlassesGuy03 The reason I'm asking is because I'm in a process of purchasing my first pair of Randolph and not sure which lens colour I should go for. I'm on the fence between American Gray and AGX (green). Can't decide. Also thought that this time I should give it a go and try the non-polarized option as you guys mentioned so many times that you prefer the non-polarized. (I've only had polarized lenses.) Will be used mainly for driving, 10+ hours a day.
@attilab.2818 for driving if you’re driving most often directly into the sun the gray will be a little more comfortable. For all other situations a green is more relaxing to the eye and gives you better color rendering. For driving going non polar unless you have a very steeply raked windshield (like 2000s Camaro raked) then you’re going to wonder WTF you’ve been doing to yourself all this time 😂😂😎. So my recommendation - bright sun heavy, go gray, if you’ve got another pair ideally mirrored for those super bright into the sun situations. Go AGX and don’t look back. And grab a pair of brown for overcast or mid light situations while you’re at it 🥂
@ThatGlassesGuy03 I've got an RB4264 blue mirror Chromance and a MJ Wedges Hawaii Lava, also planning to get a Maui Green glasses at some point, so always have a backup plan for certain light conditions. However I'm looking for something like an 'all in 1' lens colour, that's why I narrowed it down to American Gray and AGX green. Ref. polarized lenses, are they really a bit gimmicky then? I've only had polarized glasses since I've been driving large 12+tons vehicles (nearly 10 years), can't even remember how it feels to wear a non-polar one. 😄 So for driving, are the polarized lenses not a big game changers after all? 😯
@attilab.2818 oh man especially for big trucks not at all. Because your windshield position is so upright the polarization isn’t doing you much good (except the hood reflections in JUST the wrong position around sunrise/sunset.). I wouldn’t say polarized is a gimmick, it absolutely has its place. But as a true filter it’s benefits are limited and it’s extremely unfortunate to me that we’ve foregone overall lens light tuning in favor of slapping a damned polarizing filter in and calling it the best thing since sliced bread, when many predecessor glass lenses using inherent properties imbued by the metals used to color it were INFINITELY better. /rant.
Hello Sir, Haven’t seen you a new video from you for a while, is there any review in the works? 😊 Btw, do you work with Oliver Peoples at all? What do you think about the brand nowadays? Is it just another Luxottica product under different name or still considered one of the top (sun)glass brand?
Oliver people’s has been mid grade for quite some time now. Look to Garrett Leight (mr leight specifically) as the future of Oliver peoples carried on by the father son duo that created Oliver peoples to begin with 🙃 mrleight.com/about Yes lots of new videos in the works and finally getting back in the routine! Already have next week’s videos ready to go!! Had the studio in a bit of shambles for awhile and just wasn’t in the head space for recording content. I’ve missed it 😎🥂
@@ThatGlassesGuy03 Thanks, I'm looking forward your new contents. :) I know about Garrett Leight and Barton Perreira as well but they don't offer worldwide shipping and returns, but even if they did their price range would be above my budget. Oliver Peoples are a little more affordable and their 45 days return policy is quite good tbh, hence I'm looking their sunglasses. I like Oliver Peoples style but always have a second thought whether they're actually a higher brand with premium materials and built quality or is only an illusion and actually just another Luxottica brand, under different name. I like some of their styles but can't find anything about their lens technology, colours, etc. Their website doesn't mention anything about the lenses or maybe just looking at the wrong page?
Ahhh international shipping, I really wonder why more companies don’t offer it. Quality control has gotten wild and costs insane across the board in most all industries unfortunately. Where I use to be able to find brands in the 2-300 usd range I could call quality it’s been quite some time since I’ve been able to say that. The old 300 is todays 500 😅🥶.
I work in optics/ opthamology and when we got these they just felt cheap. Compared to all the other Maui Jim's , I know they're less expensive than other MJ options but its a no here. And not the most comfortable .Thanks for the review!!
Definitely not a fan of this one, but it’s a cheap way to get into the Maui optics. Better off grabbing the budget zeal variant instead at this point though IMO.

Shane about the nose fit, they look REALLY cool on you.
Great for those it works for for sure! I definitely don’t need more in my collection so I’m thankful 😂👌🏻
nice video. did you ever check the weight on this? thanks
I did not sorry.
Hello my favourite remote-optician, 😄
Do you have any experience with Randolph Aviators, especially their glass lenses?
I’ve only worked with them in direct comparison as sent to me by a customer to shootout against AO 😎. And I’ll pick the Randolph every time. 🤫😂
