The box was there the whole time. They previously recorded it empty, then add it on in post production. Matt Smith takes his cue, the camera angle changes and he walks out like he's appeared out of thin air.

@harri57 That's because it's a different portrayal, Tennant's doctor was charismatic and cocky, Smith's is quirky and alien. It's hard to imagine William Hartnell or Patrick Troughton acting like the 10th doctor but I'd rather watch them any day.

While most of the original series were before my time I have caught up with all of it thankfully,
And yes I enjoyed David however Matt just feels so much more like the doctor to me,
Maybe it's cause I just prefer moffat as head writer as RTD's stories ended up getting too cheesy at times
@mitochondrion7 british comedy is still at the top of its game the problem is comic relief comedy has never been 'decent' there has been the odd gems which make it worth while but the problem is all the comedy seems too staged and too 'oh lets raise money' which ruins it but again its for a great cause

@lisaisanut easily, as you can see the presenters were glancing off camera at a monitor, showing what we can see on our screens, the TARDIS was already set up there, but a duplicate image of the same set without the TARDIS, was acting as a covering layer, and that faded in and out view. So Hey Presto! The TARDIS was there the whole time! but a good bit of live editing kept the whole process running smoothly. Either that, or we are giving the BBC too much funding.
Lol it’s just dawn on me that the doctor is a criminal sterling money lol no wonder he some how this doctor has money to pay for his companions luxuries 😂
@Anacchi yeah, i do agree that matt smith's an amazing doctor, but steven moffat doesnt know everything about doctor who. the thing i love about the show is that people cant say "he must know everything about it, because he created it" because he didn't. doctor who has just been handed down to the next generation. moffat can get it wrong too.
@misssailorneptune If you have been with the show all along, this is an eternal argument. You should have heard the garbage leveled at Peter Davison when he took over for Tom Baker in the 1980s. As the Brigadier once said, "Splendid fellows, all of them."
@RoseyBabez10 Around twenty past eleven, which is kind of odd because most children would have gone to bed by then so I thought he would have appeared much earlier, closer to the skit. :/ Not that I wasn't pleased to see him!

OMG!! People saying matt smith is sexy....I just don't see it. I Don't want to be mean to the poor guy, but it seems to me girls will throw themselves at anyone remotely rich, famous or successful.
It's for charity so it has to be good, I like millions of others gave last night but burdlow is right David Tennant is so much better as the Doctor so much more charisma.........

@randomist92 you're probably right about that. They'd gather more money if they actually had some comedians like Michael Mcintyre, Bill Bailey, Jimi Carr etc
Or better yet, some old favourites like special episodes of Fools & Horses, Blackadder, Porridge...or maybe even some QI. Something that was actually funny and not staged (acted out time and time again), would make comic relief a lot more entertaining. This year's event been awful so far, in my opinion.
You should watch it these days. Just tumbleweed after tumbleweed blowing through.
