Dear Annie, Raine Carosin here and can you believe, at 48 I didn't hear you before this night and I fell in love... your voice is tonic, healing, uplifting, enlightening... thank you so much for sharing yourself, as it was, tonight was a bit of a downer but when I heard you singing, (93.8fm south africa, leon economedes (dj)), I was suddenly transported away from the pain which became like a memory, and I found life... sorry so emotional, but you know how us females wish for total expression!
QUEEN ANNIE....QUEEN ANNIE QUEEN ANNIE QUEEN ANNIE QUEEN ANNIE QUEEN ANNIE QUEEN ANNIE...... What MORE needs to be said! Even the poor audio quality can't disguise the voice of angelic chorus!..... I'd ask you to marry me, Queen Annie, but there must be a better man than me, for you out there, and a QUEEN should only have the BEST.... I'm eternally grateful that you allow us mere mortals to enjoy your singing..... Can you tell I like yur music?!....
Annie played NYC last night and she was awesome. There is NO one like her - her voice is extraordinary - she has a 5-octave range. In her encore grand finale she went one entire octave in one shot and sustained that note FOREVER!!! Go RENAISSANCE 2009!
Anyone else think that pressing the 'like' button is going out of fashion? Over a quarter of a million views and just over one thousand 'likes.' Annie is superb here by the way. Thanks for putting it up!
Just discovered Annie and Renaissance thru youtube. When ever I hear this song it brings tears to my eyes. Such a wonderful angelic voice. I can almost see in my mind the greengrass lands of the UK, and Stonehenge. This could be soundtrack of 2012 and the rebirth of humanity. Citizens of the planet. No more war. No more divisions between us all. Maybe I'm dreaming. I can see it possible when I hear this song. Thanks Annie. We all love you!!!
I love Annie, I have been buying her records/Renaissance records since I was an early teenager, 1976, when this song was a smash hit. I was at this concert of hers in Philly in '97 and, as at nearly every single one of her PHENOMINAL, BRILLIANT, FANTASTIC concerts I have been fortunate enough to attend over the years, I have always noticed an audience ratio of about 80%-20% Men to Women, lol. The guys just can't seem to stay away, Annie, as I cannot; you are simply one of the best!
I 1st saw Renaissance at a free show on the waterfront in Philadelphia in 1977. Fell in love with Annie the moment she hit the stage! She's still incredible!
Great to find videos by Annie here, as well as Renaissance. I listened to them so much in the seventies. Annie is still one of my favorite female vocalists..the voice of an angel.
Stunning vocal technic !!! Amazing how constant and beautiful her voice is while performing a lot for many years ...I would definitely love to learn about her vocal exercises ... LUV 4 ALL
What a voice. And on top of that, she saved legendary bassist John Wetton's life as he was less than a month from dying due to alcohol-induced liver failure. ❤
Fell in love with her voice at 10 years old driving about with my dad in his old truck, I think pn 8 track but not sue, then seen her on tv in 76 and been in love with her since.
Qué linda voz y que buenas melodías tiene esta formidable mujer, admirable por su lucha contra un cáncer que le aquejaba. Además de ser una excelente cantante, ha sido pintora y diseñadora de modas.
I seen Renaissance open for Al Stewart around 1974 at the Tower Theater in Upper Darby Pennsylvania just outside of Philadelphia I was instantly hooked
Nunca esqueci as musicas do Rennaissance...a cara da minha adolescencia! E Carpet of the Sun era uma das q mais curtia...muito bom ver, ouvir e relembrar!
I wonder if people hearing Annie sing for the first time feel what we long-time fans feel. At the TOWER Theater in Phila year ago I ran up to the stage and handed her a special flower, a "Bird Of Paradise." She loved it, held onto it, and used it as a pointer as she introduced her band. I was in heaven!
My pappy was from Morrisville and we occasionally visit. I think I am going to have to make tracks for Doylestown the next time we hit Bucks County. This is talent. And she must have a lot of guts, too..surviving breast cancer. Tom in Utica NY
Some listeners have complained about the drummer and I can understand why. But his syncopated fills, which give an almost R&B like flavour to what is actually a folk rock song, allow Annie to improvise and express more freely than she can in the usual arrangements. Also wondrous how she can use that syncopation to her advantage and yet resist getting all riff-happy and instead stay true to the spirit of her original rendition.
@Seahawkwes - OMG. I have to go. If I have to drive out of state. I absolutely can't miss them again. My heart is racing right now. Thank you, thank you, thank you. I thought a couple years ago was to be their last tour and I missed it because I was in Costa Rica.
I do still listen to Renaissance, by any measurement, probably my favorite band of all. The world has changed, but their music can still pull me back to center. ("Lost the way in my confusion, an illusion") Austin, Houston, in the '70s but this upcoming tour is most welcome news! I will certainly try to make it, to see and hear them at least once more. My girlfriend and I made it backstage in Houston. That was so, so wonderful to meet all of them in person. I will always cherish that experience.
Come along with me Down into the world of seeing Come, and you'll be free Take the time to find the feeling See everything on its own And you'll find you know the way And you'll know the things you're shown Owe everything to the day See the carpet of the sun The green grass soft and sweet Sands upon the shores of time Of oceans mountains deep Part of the world that you live in You are the part that you're giving Come into the day Feel the sunshine warmth around you Sounds from far away Music of the love that found you The seed that you plant today Tomorrow will be a tree And living goes on this way It's all part of you and me See the carpet of the sun The green grass soft and sweet Sands upon the shores of time Of oceans mountains deep Part of the world that you live in You are the part that you're giving See the carpet of the sun The green grass soft and sweet Sands upon the shores of time Of oceans mountains deep Part of the world that you live in You are the part that you're giving See the carpet of the sun See the carpet of the sun See the carpet of the sun See the carpet of the sun
I could not agree more! I saw them back in the 70's with Strawbs. 2 awesome bands. I wish I had known Renaissance were at the Keswick Theatre in Glenside, PA in Oct. 2012. I'd love to have seen them. Sad to hear about Michael Dunford.
Stevie Nicks could not hold a candle to this woman! Annie Haslam is the BEST!
Why would you even mention Stevie Nicks!? She has sounded as if she is mumbling for years.
For shame! Evening mentioning Nicks in the same sentence is a crime.
Ya no hacen música como está...que hermosa voz !!
Music is not a competition!
Amen! Voice has been shot and "covered" since 1980!@forcelifeforce
OMG! Even if Annie is a few years older, she's still gorgeous and has a voice like an angel.
Professionally trumpeting the high notes. That’s not a “voice” … That’s a divine instrument!
One of the best voices since the phonograph has been created!

This is the 5 octave voice I fell in love with back in the 70's! Fabulous, Just Fabulous!
I saw them live in 1976. You wouldn't believe how she sounds live. Just stunning.
Annie played NYC last night and she was awesome. There is NO one like her - her voice is extraordinary - she has a 5-octave range. In her encore grand finale she went one entire octave in one shot and sustained that note FOREVER!!! Go RENAISSANCE 2009!
Prog rock queen! Her voice is still Gorgeous
An absolute amazing performance from one of the great female vocalist's of all time.

Coming to Rochester NY Oct 8 and I can't wait to see her again after 20+ years!

What a pleasure to listen to this wonderful voice....The time has any effect on her ....
I am so in love with this song. I can feel the sunshine on my face. It's impossible to imagine another voice besides Annie's singing this.
Nobody hits those high notes like Annie
@janjean1186: Yeah. I especially love that sweet wiggle in her voice in certain parts of the song. Wonderful.
Oh my. I was into them in the late 70s, but I never paid too much attention to how she's really singing. Great unique talent.
My all time favourite Hippy chick!!..love you Annie

Some people will complain about anything.
I may be three years late, but I'd still like to complain about your comment.
-No offense ... it's just a hobby of mine. (Complaining.)-

MOst beautiful voice ever. Love you Annie !
Come along with me
Down into the world of seeing
Come, and you'll be free
Take the time to find the feeling
See everything on its own
And you'll find you know the way
And you'll know the things you're shown
Owe everything to the day
See the carpet of the sun
The green grass soft and sweet
Sands upon the shores of time
Of oceans mountains deep
Part of the world that you live in
You are the part that you're giving
Come into the day
Feel the sunshine warmth around you
Sounds from far away
Music of the love that found you
The seed that you plant today
Tomorrow will be a tree
And living goes on this way
It's all part of you and me
See the carpet of the sun
The green grass soft and sweet
Sands upon the shores of time
Of oceans mountains deep
Part of the world that you live in
You are the part that you're giving
See the carpet of the sun
The green grass soft and sweet
Sands upon the shores of time
Of oceans mountains deep
Part of the world that you live in
You are the part that you're giving
See the carpet of the sun
See the carpet of the sun
See the carpet of the sun
See the carpet of the sun
She'll perform in Rio de Janeiro on March 21st 2020 and I'll be there to hear her angellical voice.
Did you go? How was the show? I hope it was not stopped by Covid.
Please tell us if Covid didn't pause things? Your experience at the show?
@@prettythings3 Hi there. Unfortunately, it was postponed. Firstly to August and now to March 2021. Nothing to do but wait. Thank you for asking.
@@natbruno154 Hope whenever it happens you have a wonderful time.
Another great song written by Betty Thatcher. She wrote most of the lyrics & posted them for the band to work on in the studio.
