What a beautiful idea to have a playlist of low cost self-sufficiency testimonies! The powers that be thrive when we remain unaware and unconnected. Information sharing and faith is how we overcome it.
We found emergency battery taper candles at Dollar Tree. They are BRIGHT! We use solar light strings and solar stakes inside. The stakes can be stuck in mason jars. Headlamps can be put around a gallon jug of water, turn it to face into the jug. It's a great nightlight. Battery Christmas lights really light up a small room or closet! We have battery light pucks, too. Stick them everywhere. Keep stale cooking oil for lamps. Just don't mix with lamp oil.
A long time ago you had a video about the oil lamps. I found two at the thrift store that were brand new for a couple of dollars. Bought some lamp oil and knock on wood have never used them but they are ready to go whenever I need them!! Being prepared is awesome!!! Thanks!!!!!
You might want to light them up in a practice run. I have had a couple of old oil lamps for years that I try to use when the power goes out. But, the "lamp oil" that is made for them makes really nasty fumes. The fumes are prohibitive in a closed environment, such as you have during a cold winter storm that caused the power to go out. I just bought a gallon of the Klean Heat fuel that Heidi mentioned and will be testing it out this week.
When we had a hurricane I learned several years back I invested in Puck lights put them all around the house and invested in recharge batteries best thing I ever did
I love dehydrating ideas! My husband and I are empty neasters now too. I'm finding I use alot more pints jars than quarts lol with just 2 of us it's hard if we open to much at a time and we don't like being wasteful
I put up strings of led tiny lights around my living room, dining room and kitchen. It’s all pretty open, but they only lasted a few months before they burned out. I am going to buy a bulb tester to replace the bulbs, but for now, I took them down. I also bought some of the led candles for sconces in the living room wall, they are awesome, and have a remote control so I don’t have to remove them to turn them on. I forgot to grab my phone yesterday so I could comment, but I’m glad you did this one again. Many Blessings!!
I dehydrate most of the fresh goods I buy, I may let them sit fresh for a few days or a week but we dont eat things fast enough to use before they spoil, and the sooner you dehydrate them the more vitamins you are preserving.. and it is great also to have those things you may have got on sale, or eat things off season when they are more expensive..
Good video, We have the outdoor solar light strung through our house. We put the little chargers in the windows, they come on at dusk and last most the night.
For us, that only is good to make it through the night in summer months so it is pointless for us to consider using them as emergency lights, especially in the dead of winter when cloud cover is constant and the light will only last an hour after sunset
Yay! THANK YOU!! Looking forward to the chicken remedy ~ love This & That's ~ always right on time with tidbits I need! 🙏🙌💖 Love and Prayers from The Catskill Mountains of NY! 🎉❤🐓❄️☀️
You would think that in a area where the power goes out ALL the time people would do some of these easy affordable ways of lighting their home! Thank You Heidi for all you do!
I purchased the little cheap battery operated "votive" lights to place in the bathroom and inside the cabin at night when we were on a cruise. They worked so well that i stocked up on them for emergency lighting in the bathroom when we have power outages. I have the oil lanterns but when i use it, i place it in a pie pan of water for just in case.
I have a bunch of onions in my dehydrator right now but have 3 nice size cabbages i will be drying after the onion are finished. I would use them for soup and stir fry and might just give kimchi a try. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and God bless.
Thank you for another great video! I am definitely going to be adding battery operated candles to my must haves. Great idea in the event that we lose electric. God bless you and your family!!
For Costco members there is a solar rechargeable lantern which is a very decent size that is only $20. They work really well too. You can leave them in a window that faces the sun to recharge and stay charged till use. It also has a charging port for a cell phone, etc
Heidi, that book you got is $20 on amazon, and they don't have a lot of them, I have a feeling it is no longer in print. Thank you for sharing looks like a good book to have.
❤ Great video, as always! Went straight over & odered the little candle votives from your link; there was an additional discount offer if you bought more than one, so ordered two sets. I'm thinking those could be neat in the little glass votive holders that fit inside regular candle holders (you remember they were popular years ago?) I keep an eye out for them & any candles & candle accessories. Thanks for showing which kind of lamp oil you use. Those little lamps you have are super cute. Thanks for sharing lots of helpful information, all the time. 😊
I have mentioned those in other lighting related videos but they are not one bit reliable for us in winter as we get so little sun, they are only good for about an hour past sun down at most at the darkest time of the year
Awesome video. I would not have thought an electric candle would be more economical than a wax one, but I should have, I used to have a hand- made candle business and I know how much they cost to produce and I had to be exceptionally keen on burn time.
I was glad you specified the difference between quinine and quercetin. I have been confused about that as well 🙂 It's going to be easier for me to make quercetin though and I've heard it's really good for allergies... Praying that works for me! 🙏
Great ideas on the lights! I have the oil lamps too. I've also been planning on using my solar garden lights. They have on/off switches under the lights and the stakes can be removed so I think I can make them work as I have 40 or more out there.
GOOD MORNING HEIDI. I did make your recipe for dehydrated fermented kimchi it is ready and very tasty 😊. I will continue to dehydrate my ingredients for kimchi. As you said, it is available when I want or need it. Thanks so much for all you do and share ❤
Love your channel❣️ I just tried and my looking forward to watching more of your videos and doing more natural healthy things for myself and my family❣️ God Bless❣️🙏✝️🙏❣️
That is not a good option for us as when we need them, we just do not get enough sun to charge them up. On the shortest days they may only last an hour after sun down
Thank you, so much great info. I love these. I bought a couple of boxes last Christmas. I actually bought them because my daughter has immune issues and wanted me not to burn candles mostly for looks because of the wax being released into the air. Anyway, love them for same reasons you have them. Yes, I figured out how they do burn cheaper and longer than wax. Great Big Bang for bucks if lights go out.
Thanks Heidi, i e never made kimchi, but it sounds so good snd i have a lot of dried veggies still. Im heading to town today and will look for that book, i like using dried wild plants. Nettle is my favorite 😊❤
Thank you Heidi. I usually am blocked from writing so i will keep going on a different subject: I appreciate so much all your dehydrating series. I was given a freeze dryer and although it does good with some thigs, i am frustrated with the vegies; carrots, green beans, cabbage, celery and peppers. They float too long in my soups and stews. Dehydrated is by far better in my experience.
the Q word is another Y T trigger subject. but yes that point is a great one to emphasize, during the great 2019 adventure those words got confused on all kinds of videos.. maybe why the word became taboo
❤ HI Beautiful Heidi🌹 I'm so inspired by your many videos Thank You❣️May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost be with you all. Amen
Monday is the best day of the week. I love this~N~that so much. Quick little reminders and tips that I can use, record, or share.
Exactly❤
Always looking for low cost ways to prepare for the unknown event. Thanks, Heidi! God bless.

@@DonnaMM6361 Just a note: I changed out the wicks for new ones when I went to the clean kerosene.
Thanks for your suggestions and advice. Once it stops pouring down rain here in Georgia I will give it a test!!!!!
On utube I read you can use lamp oil with 50% veg. Oil. I tried it and works in the lamps
Heidi, God is good all the time. Hallelujah thank you Heidi for all your help I appreciate that God bless.❤❤❤

That little oil lamp with the “peg” is actually to be used in a candle holder. I bought them years ago from lamplighter farms. I love them too.

I love these This and That videos!
I checked 2 of our Dollar Trees and didn’t see it. I’ll check online too!
Those are all good lighting ideas, I also use solar yard lights in a pinch or when I'm camping.
I have mentioned those in other lighting related videos but they are not one bit reliable for us in winter as we get so little sun, they are only good for about an hour past sun down at most at the darkest time of the year
