That 4th quarter as a Chargers fan felt way too familiar...Herbert is the difference from past times. He made plays when he needed to and stayed poised like a vet QB
Well you had what 15 years with a static QB, rivers wouldn't have run like herbert did today, that kid with mahomes and lamar will be the QBs of this decade

I hope people realize how bad Rivers really was. Would have fell apart when the game imploded.

Justin Herbert played a tremendous game: 300 yards passing and 90 yards rushing. Austin Ekeler is the most underrated running back in football and Joey Bosa closes the door on a great night for football.
You guys did not have to win game because you guys actually cheated you guys have no rights I saw the holding penalties you guys missed 3 out of 4 as Steelers fan I do not like it give me One Good reason why you guys keep hiding these penalties

Congrats to Justin Herbert for shattering the record for most rushing yards in a single game by a Chargers QB. Previous record for a game was Marty Domres for 58 yards back in 1969, a 52 year old record went down tonight.

Steelers fan here, Can't even be mad at this loss, hell of a game. I expected it to be more of a blowout with most of the faces of the defense injured but it became a pretty damn good match instead. Congrats Chargers, you deserved this one.

Masterpiece until the last 2 minutes. That last offensive drive by Pittsburgh has gotta be the worst in history.
First down: immediate sack for a 9 yard loss
Second down: immediate sack for a 9 yard loss
Third down: Ben pressured immediately, bad throw, nearly picked but incomplete
Fourth down: false start to move them back even further, followed by Ben being pressured immediately and throwing into traffic a solid 20 yards before the sticks

I like to watch and it's tough to not be emotionally invested, but I know the league controls the outcome, if they so decide. this became obvious to me in our 2018 night game (cant remember if it was a Sunday night or Thursday night game).. first half, the Steelers were absolutely decimating my bolts... I mean they were literally in the backfield, every play, eating Rivers for lunch.. 2nd qtr.. Tevi (our offensive tackle) on nationwide tv, is sooo obviously off-side that almost all the other Chargers and Steelers stop playing that play..except Rivers and Travis Benjamin..and Rivers threw like a 40 yrd bomb TD to Benjamin, and everyone ON THE PLANET expected a false start penalty...only the penalty never came.. TD chargers. ok. i'll take it..not happy about it, but not often we get that kinda break.. 2nd half, early 3rd qtr.. we force Pitt into a punt . they punt, to Desmond King.. as King is receiving the ball, you, me, everyone nationwide, watches him cath the ball as a Charger, clearly blasts a Steeler player with a blatant block-in-the-back, and this dude flies right past King, so EVERYONE SAW IT.. King returns the punt for a TD and no penalty called at all. GTFOH.. I mean I want my boys to win..but never like this.. Steelers got robbed and this was on purpose. that's all I needed to see

As a Rams fan I have a lot of respect for the Chargers. They’re a hell of a team, and they show a lot of passion. And Herbert is something special. Glad they found their guy. Can’t forget about Ekeler either, he carried my fantasy team

Herbert is an absolute phenom of the highest order overcoming drops, penalties, coaching snafoos and freak accidents week in and week out. He is the heart and soul of this team and Staley will owe his continued employment to him.
We saw this all last year when Herbert set virtually every rookie passing record behind the 32nd ranked Oline and the worst HC in the league. Then when he got in press conferences he absorbed blame and deflected praise. He has every physical metric you could possibly conceive of without all of the arrogance of a Mahomes or an Allen that would've forced the ball downfield all night and turned it over and Rodgers wouldn't mentally collapsed as soon as Pittsburgh punched back.
He has Brady's clutch gene and care for the ball along with Allen's freak size, mobility and arm strength.
Buy your Herbert stock now because he's not going anywhere.

Justin Herbert keeping his MVP case alive as he throws for 382 and 3 TDs and rushes for 90 yards as well as having a 116 passer rating and 73 percent completion percentage. Without some drops he would have had around 80 and 400 easy.
Those drops worry me. They always seem to be on crucial 3rd downs. Accurate but somehow they bounce off the gloves or helmets.
To think I thought the Chargers had gassed in the 4th quarter. Not Justin. This guy is the real deal, i knew it since I followed him at Oregon.
Herbert is the X-factor for the Bolts. Any other Chargers team before 2020 would have bungled this game away

Damn, what a game this was! I wasn't able to watch the whole thing, but saw that 4th quarter. I'm a Giants fan so I'm so used to watching every down as some big struggle. It was really refreshing watching a team on offense be so efficient as the Chargers were.
You guys got yourself a damn good QB and a dangerous one that can run if need be. He has a GREAT arm as well. The Charger defense really stepped up in that 4th quarter too, as they got to Big Ben when it was really crunch time.
Congrats on the win over another solid team in the Steelers.
Even though we lost this game i think Ben played very well considering he hadn't trained all week because of the covid. He made a couple of really good throws without much help from the running game and called red zone plays. I just wish we were healthier on defense, we really needed TJ, Minkah and Haden.

Damn props to Steeltown keeping up without Minka, Watt, and Joe Haden. Steelers played amazing. I'm excited af about my Chargers and our future. Justin Herbert is one of the biggest draft steals in NFL history imho. He's clutch and Rivers was great but he choked a lot. Herbert is also way more mobile than I thought. His throwing is so sharp and accurate. We need to step up our run defense but other than that I believe we could win our division being that we still play the Chiefs again and have the tie breaker since we beat them already and haven't lost to a team in our division. Chargers all day.⚡⚡⚡⚡On to Denver. 🐴

@@kirbysmith5752 There’s a reason for that though. Normally teams run on the Chargers from the get go but they packed the box today. However when you pack the box you’re liable in your secondary and that’s why the Chargers got torched through the air.

As a Steelers fan, I can't even be mad at this loss. Our offense has been struggling all season, so to us put up 37 points and hang with the Chargers the whole way even with three of our top 4 defensive starters out is really encouraging. Great game played by the Chargers.

I love watching Herbert play the position. Give him another year of this, and I'll put him at the top of the current heap. I'm also getting an idea of why, in spite of Hadl, Fouts, Rivers and now Herbert, they've only been to one Super Bowl and, unlike my Jets, lost it.
And the one time they did go to a super bowl, it was with a team that would not even make it into their top 10 of all time. With the talent this team has fielded in years like the early 1980s and 2004-2010 with Tomlinson at RB and Brees / Rivers at QB, and even throughout much of the 2010s, the fact that none of these teams went to the super bowl is a real travesty. Talent has never been the issue with the Chargers, it just seems like they can’t overcome themselves when it matters most. Even I get frustrated with them and they aren’t even my primary team.

No it belongs to the 07 lions. They scored 34 I believe in the 4th against the bears.

Almost. While the record for 4th quarter points is indeed 34 by the '07 Lions (trailed 3-13, beat the Bears 37-27), in 1980 the Oilers scored 28 points in the 4th - on 4 TD passes by Ken Stabler (who also threw 4 picks) - to come back from 0-21 against the Jets, only to lose 28-31 in OT.
God, I wish the Chargers would have gone for one more touchdown when it was that close to the end zone. They were 7 points from tying the record for "most points in the 4th quarter, both teams" that was set in 2007 between the Lions and the Bears.
As a Charger fan, I always love when we play the Steelers. They never give up and are tough as nails!
Our entire defense was out for this game almost..Our back ups looked awful..

This was a really good game from our offense and we need to keep this up. We just need T.J. and other important pieces back out there.

Thanks Chargers for giving the Steelers hope just to take it away, that was amazing. This Chargers team with Herbert at the helm, I tell you, the sky is the limit. Their biggest enemy is themselves. Every week it seems like they can’t stop getting in their own way.

Wow. Good game. Pittsburgh fought hard and got back in this one, but the chargers offense just kept playing. Probably the best game this week
Wow was this action packed from start to end. After Pitt was down 20-34, that was 17 unanswered points all being under 5 minutes left in the 4th quarter, and that final drive was most likely a fluke. That wouldn't usually happen in a nail biter-final drive!! All the credit to Herbert and his team
Even with the Steelers best defensive players out they still played very well. And almost won.
Umm, they got thoroughly outplayed. Basically couldn't stop the chargers all night long and got bailed out by two turnovers.

It's something about this chargers team , even though the Steelers was catching up and eventually went ahead I knew my chargers was gonna come out on top. Our offense and play calling is way different than last season ⚡⚡⚡
