The first thing that came to mind watching your drone footage was that you, your family and employees epitomize the hard work and perseverance that represents America. Well done.
Smoke was probably started from chaff inside the throat. I’ve been watching farmers a long time. I’ve seen it happen on combines & hay balers. Good thing you had water on it so fast. Combines burn so fast. Scary as heck.
The end of the video was the best part, almost missed it. Loved the drone shots combined with the epic musical score; very moving. The Walkers RUclips channel starts out that way with every video.😊.
Morning Granny Daniel I also had a small fire on my combine last year it was under the motor and you are right the panic you go thru is unbelievable scared the living crap out of me was able to get it out no damage thank the Lord
So thankful the smoke was a false alarm. So good to see the great yields. Makes you feel like your hard work is paying off. Good morning from Oklahoma Granny.
I really like your videos. I'm an Italian caseih mechanic and I'd like to see a video of how your combine is configured for wheat, corn and soybeans! Thank you
Just an FYI. I've got magnets I keep at various locations. Put one in your tool box lid. Helps not losing nuts and bolts out in the field. Drop a nut in the field and it's a goner
Loving the video Daniel. So glad you did not burn one down in the field. Wish I had time from the ranch to come by and see y’all but to bring granny a special treat. Life is good to spend it in agriculture. Stay safe my friend.
I know just how you feel a few year ago I had a total of 5 small fires on the combine. It was a very hot year and the dust was very fibrous and it was this that started by a spark from the exhaust while it was going through an auto regeneration. When you have a fire it makes you very sensitive and on high alert. Hope the rest of your harvest goes well.
I have done that. I was combining flax, and it wrapped up around the feeder chain. It was moving, but flax has oil in it, and it got hot enough to light up the stocks. These where the days before being able to hydraulically back out the feed chain and I did not have a detachable draper head. So, I had to run down and turn the feed by hand with a big wrench.
Boy, I wish my dad had one of those electric grease guys when I was still helping on the farm. I used to hate greasing when using the hand grease guns.
Hey Daniel. It could have been the scrappers on the back sprocket of the feeder house. Notorious for burning down red machines. Everyone takes them out. They don’t do anything but cause trouble
Roy was talking about the blue Freightliner not having the power it use to have. If it's got a Detroit Diesel it's probably the turbo. Just saying from experience!
Service is critical for Detroit Diesel, start with fuel filters and see how it preforms, if the exhaust is light blue look at the turbo seal leaking oil into the combustion supply air.
Yields are up and your not having to dry it. It all helps with corn south of $ 4.00 . Hopefully you got some contracted before the bottom feel out. Another great video Daniel. You guys stay safe and cool !!!
That's always my biggest fear on a combine OR a cotton picker. Harvest conditions contain all the ingredients for a disaster. Chaff, cotton lint, grease, hot moving parts, hydraulic fluid under pressure, diesel fuel, hot engine parts, grain dust, and overall dry conditions. We lost a cotton picker in 1999 to a fire. When cotton lint blazes up, there's not a whole lot you can do.
Granny, Good Morning! Hope you have a Great Day and Week! Really an enjoyable Video! Can you tell us how the Alburn folks test plots did?,I don't remember seeing them in videos this year. 2023 yes but not 2024. Great Video Daniel!!
Good morning. Is there a rectangle tube in front of your feeder house drive chain sprocket? It holds little stripper plates at the sprockets. If you have it take that whole tube out. Our dealers and many more take them out on new and trade in machines. Good luck! We will be starting in about 3 weeks. Sw ia
I had a Cotton picker fire and lost it for lack of water and since then I use a 5 gallon hydraulic bucket filled with water on my picker and combine then use a swimming pool type hand operated water cannon to get to places that are hard to see, very cost effective about $10.00 , just remove the top spout with a flat screwdriver and the water gun will just fit in the opening and also is a storage place for the water gun. Happy Harvest
Whe had the s same problem with our combine, look in the back of your feeder house close the gap between your sprocket where your feeder chain runs on and your knife next to it the bolts are underneath just feel around next to the sprocket it is in a difficult to reach just, close the gap where your sprocket doesn’t rub the knife then heat up again just get it as close as jou feel comfortable
When I worked for a custom harvester there was apart that we took out of the feeder house because chaff would build up and catch fires I’m thinking that’s what was smoking. I can not for the life of me remember what that part was unfortunately
I did not know that corn heads had to be greased except the slip clutches. We had a John Deere in the 1960's that had a multi lube system in the 1960's before the gearbox. Seems like a very bending job.
I know exactly how you feel. I was combining heavy wheat in my old 1480 international. You run around like a chicken with its head cut off. I found it. Belts had started chaff on fire. Luckily I had a fire extinguisher and my neighbor come running over with his. Took me half the day to stop shaking.
Can you please advise reason for storing your harvested corn in your warehouse instead of taking it to a local grain elevator ? Cool ending, thank you, Duke.
Daniel - Do you have a cheap infrared temperature gun? Need at least one in you and your dads pickups or carry one in each combine so when you smell smoke you can use it to test bearings, drive belts and pulleys etc when you smell smoke. It can also tell when a bearing is overheating 200F degrees or higher and failing and running hot or needs lube. Fairly cheap online or at like Harborfreight for $ 50 each and you can check temps while the bearings are running.
we had that happen once looked everywhere couldnt find any thing wrong went some more the smell came back we decided tozgo to house and ran high pressure, sprayer. In actuallywas chaff built on a ledge where sheet metal joined . No reason for it had no bearing failures
The neighbor had a John Deere combine about 40 years ago and he would have me grease it. The diagram showed 163 spots that were to be greased. One day I counted and could only find 159 so I told him. Next day. He greased it and came up with 159 also. The very next day he had a fire on the back side of the feeder house from a bearing that when out. There was a top and bottom rollers and the bearing when out. We found the 4 grease inserts 😂. Only way to access them was climbing in the back and remove a bunch of stuff to get to them. That was terrible engineering and to replace the rollers bearing was all day job
Daniel, do you guys carry one of those cheap Harbor Freight temperature guns in all your equipment? I use one when I have to take that rare trip across the country, to check all my axle bearings and tires. It stays right next to my fire extinguisher.
Daniel, where’s the closest grain elevator to you? Where can I look online to find prices locally they are paying? How much storage capacity do you have? Thanks From north Alabama 😊
The first thing that came to mind watching your drone footage was that you, your family and employees epitomize the hard work and perseverance that represents America. Well done.
Loving the harvest videos! It's always great to see Roy give a little of the wisdom he has.
Best farming channel on RUclips.
Awesome drone footage! Very educational. Thanks Daniel.

Keeping water in the tank on the tractors is a smart thing. Great video. Tell Granny hey from North Carolina.

good to see your yields up - we have not started any crops up here in indiana, glad your fire was not bad , hate to see peoples equipment go down
So thankful the smoke was a false alarm. So good to see the great yields. Makes you feel like your hard work is paying off. Good morning from Oklahoma Granny.

Great video good to see y'all
Great video and as always...amazing drone footage!
Morgan county AL here! Great video as usually love the music with the drone footage!!! Keep up the good work!!!

Great editing and drone shots. May God bless
Glad to see y’all in good corn! Thank God no fire!!
Daniel love your coverage. Y’all run top notch farm . Greetings from miss delta.
Glad to see y’all cutting some good corn. You need all you can this year with low corn prices!!👍🙋🏼♂️😁From La.
I really like your videos. I'm an Italian caseih mechanic and I'd like to see a video of how your combine is configured for wheat, corn and soybeans! Thank you
That's very cool drone footage. I forgot you have property on the shore of the Alabama River
Great video...whoever edits these videos is doing an AMAZING job!!!
Daniel, thank you for the ride along. I love your editing and the video is very educational. Thank you! ❤️❤️
I.ENJOYED WATCHING THE VIDEO Daniel ❤ 😊
Great video! Glad the combine didn't burn. Making the grain cart tractor double as a fire truck is a great plan.
Awesome video!! Really loved the music with the drone footage, spectacular!!

You have a good crew. I’m thankful you’re a farmer.
Coming to you from Fort Smith, AR.
Good morning Ms Granny
Hope you're enjoying the cooler mornings this week

Good Morning Daniel and Granny. Tennessee here.
😊
Keep up the good work watching from bonnie scotland
Keep it up
Good looking corn!
Boy, I wish my dad had one of those electric grease guys when I was still helping on the farm. I used to hate greasing when using the hand grease guns.
i never minded the greasing it was the swapping the cartridges that was messy but wasnt near,as bad as the,old style bucket pumping into grease gun.
You ran a mile and a half!!! Impressive! I’d do good to run around my truck!!
High quality video as always. Still kinda new to the channel and trying to learn everyone. PA the one with the big hats? He related to you?
I feel your pain with the fire, having had 3 combine fires myself. 2 were total losses and the last one about $20,000.00

I've heard of a rock sparking a fire on that dust ....?
Thanks for posting 😁
good thing you caught the fire quick. could have been two small rocks hitting each other.
I found the segment on agriculture technology quite enlightening
You need an infrared thermometer and you can scan the whole head to see where the heat is coming from.
Drone footage is awesome
Thanks for drone footage fantastic. Great footage thanks 😂
Watching from Nebraska. Enjoy your videos. We have had a awesome amount of rain here. Corn and beans are going to be close to record yields
Great video Daniel!
Thank God for irrigated fields....goes to show it is a no brainer to use pivots when you can.....
Wide rows due to also growing cotton? Good video!
Love the vid

Good morning Granny have a great day
Has nothing to do with her

Good morning Granny , hope you are having a great week.
TAKE CARE AND STAY COOL !
Auburn is an AMAZING school.. The saved my dog at their vet hospital. Angels among us.

Ticks are bad everywhere this year, I'm upstate New York and I've been getting chewed up all summer long.
great video of corn harvest.
When I worked for a custom harvester there was apart that we took out of the feeder house because chaff would build up and catch fires I’m thinking that’s what was smoking. I can not for the life of me remember what that part was unfortunately
I think this is the best camera work on RUclips
Been there, done that. Combine fires are no fun!!!!
I did not know that corn heads had to be greased except the slip clutches. We had a John Deere in the 1960's that had a multi lube system in the 1960's before the gearbox. Seems like a very bending job.
Keep one of those laser thermometers in your so you check for over heated bearings.
Hey Danial, Maybe you can tell me what size chain y'all use to pull the bull dozer out when 4 pices of equipment stuck. Thank you and Hello Granny.
I know exactly how you feel. I was combining heavy wheat in my old 1480 international. You run around like a chicken with its head cut off. I found it. Belts had started chaff on fire. Our corn in Iowa is going to get 280 to 300+ bushes per acre this fall we don’t start combining for a 2 months yet
Good morning Granny
Drink!
Daniel, my biggest fear is when I'm on the cotton picker and smell smoke
Can you please advise reason for storing your harvested corn in your warehouse instead of taking it to a local grain elevator ? Cool ending, thank you, Duke.
Playing the market.most likely. Same.reason folks have grain bins on the farm.
Daniel - Do you have a cheap infrared temperature gun? Sure is a great looking corn crop good that it making that gpod

Ticks! If you get the rash get Doxycycline immediately. Don't fool around with them.

Having water tanks on the grain cart is pretty ingenious! Glad nothing more came of it!
How are you already harvesting. What did you plant 50 day corn?
Daniel, do you guys carry one of those cheap Harbor Freight temperature guns in all your equipment? I use one when I have to take that rare trip across the country, to check all my axle bearings and tires. It stays right next to my fire extinguisher.
Good Morning! Do you mind going over the liquid system y’all use on your tractor? Thank You!
So how did the test plot data come out. Did you learn anything about N rates etc.?
Daniel is that corn dry enough to store that way?
Daniel, where’s the closest grain elevator to you? Where can I look online to find prices locally they are paying? How much storage capacity do you have? Thanks From north Alabama 😊
Probably Selma
Heard a lot of cicadas in vid. They coming out of the ground?
What app you use on your iPad? Is that a caseih app
Not sure if the ticks in America give you limes disease like the ones in the uk buts a nasty thing to get that for sure it’s very debilitating 😩
Morning granny, invest in a good thermal camera , it will show you the hotspots.
There is a zerk on the feeder drive by the gearbox also
Yes there is I was about ready to tell Daniel that I usually take the top plate off every hundred hours I think👍
Hi granny
Your corn is harvested super early compared to Northern farmers
We plant much earlier.also.
