Hey Daniel. Careful what you wish for. I farm corn and soybeans in NW Iowa. We've been pretty dry here for a few years, but have manged to just squeek by with enough moisture to get decent crops. We had 4.4 inches in April. Things were looking up. Then in May and June, we had just over 26 inches of rainfall. That's more than our average yearly rainfall in about 7 weeks. Whole towns were flooded. Basements flooded and some basement walls caved in. Sewers backed up. There was and still is a lot of heartbreak and sad stories. There were people that lost everything. I had about half my corn flooded out- I had planted it April 24. I replanted it, only to see it all flooded out again. I am in no way complaining or looking for sympathy. I had some crop insurance and will be fine. Many folks suffered much more than I did. Crops overall are decent here, but we are definitely behind. As long as we don't get an early frost, we'll have something to bin. Life is good. I enjoy your channel. The very best to you guys!!!
Thanks for the video of corn harvest Daniel keep up the great work 👍❤️. Take care of yourself and family and friends and be Blessed ❤️❤️. Hi Granny have a Blessed week.❤
Particulate burn may only get some of the DEF system cleaned out. You may need to service your particulate system serviced (removed and cleaned manually).
My man Daniel is getting good w the drone, channel gets better every year, really enjoying watching the southern boys farm, so different than up north, hey from the Big D XXXR Farms!
Daniel - On the Hyd issue check your Transmission and see if it is overfilled. It can take Hyd fluid from that reservoir and then when overfilled it will come out of an overboard drain.
Check your transmission fluid level. It’s happened to me before with a 2155 cotton picker. Kept loosing hydraulic fluid and couldn’t figure out where it was going. Checked the transmission level and it was slap full! Almost caused a fire.
when we lived in the country, we had corn fields all around out house, my youngest Grandson would arrive for a visit, and tell his Mom . Oh No,. Corn, it's like living in a box LOL
As a few have stated, your dpf is probably gonna need to removed and cleaned. Always a possibility of a sensor. We have had service techs do a forced regen with their laptop and that seems to help for a little while longer.
I’m sure the DEF system is similar to light truck diesels. On Ford diesels they will only do the auto regen if you’re at a steady highway speed, engine temperature and fuel level have to be in a set parameter. So you are correct that it will do the auto regen while working ground(steady state of operation at a high rpm)
Makes sense then because we only run the grain cart a little over 3mph in most cases and I imagine Daniel is the same way. Rarely get revved up much at all except running the RPM’s up to dump the cart but that’s just seconds most of the time. Stupid DEF!🤦🏻♂️🤣
I had an oil leak like that. It ended up being an allen plug with o ring that wasn't tight. The plug was on the bottom of valve block and going to ground while you were running, latter discovered all plugs in block were loose.
I guessed that it was a fungus. We have tomato blight in one corner of our garden. 2 years ago, we pulled the effected plant & burnt it. Rotated crops last year, keeping tomatoes far from it. Put tomatoes back in there this year & got another fungus in the same spot. It’s in the soil & we can’t get rid of it. I guess you really can’t spray for it either can u?
Good morning Granny, hope you are having a good week. Sure has been a hot week here in Michigan. Were not use to the heat like you folks are. TAKE CARE AND STAY COOL !!
Speaking of that "charcoal rot" area, I would like for "us" to take the time to dig out a trench area in both the bad corn production area and in the adjacent good corn area and compare the soil stratum. I'm just guessing that the water is there, but maybe the water in some areas that produces the low yield corn is beneath a clay substrate whereas in the good production areas the water stays above this clay substrate, I think they call it. Actually, I have an experiment that I'm going to try one of these days, Lord willing, that will probably address such a circumstance and if I ever get to where I can do this, I might run the idea by you in order to get some tips on exactly how to best carry out this experiment.
Daniel If you can't find where the hydraulic fluid is going on the outside then is got to be going somewhere on the inside!! Check the transmission fluid I bet it's way over filled!! The seal on the hydro motor is leaking & it's going into trans!! I had the same thing happen on my cotton picker last year!! Good luck!!
Born in lowndes county Alabama grandma had a few hogs chickens roosters the horses and cows in the pasture wasn't hers my grandad did a little puck wood hauling he planted peanuts corn sweet potatoes purple peas water melons had a few horses and mules that was in the early years many moons ago he is been passed away we left Alabama in 1967 moved to Cincinnati Ohio then Michigan it's where I'm at now he is been passed away now
Daniel, can you explain the difference between field and sweet corn and why aren't y'all farming sweet corn. Also can you tell us where the corn y'all harvest goes and what it's used for? Is there something driving y'all as far as price to grow the corn you grow? Why not grow pop corn kernels?
When you have a man like Roy, who is paying attention, you are truly blessed. But when your entire crew is like that (which they appear to be), man you really gotta count your blessings
You may have to check every square inch of the combine the hydraulic fluid could be lost during operation the leak could be in an area where you can’t see
Your tractor will have def problems if the engine burns oil, the injectors spray more fuel than the engine can burn, or your intake has air leak(not enaugh air to burn the fuel). That means you do not have good fuel to air ratio (more fuel than air) and the unburned fuel (black smoke) clauging the exhaust. I hope that helps.
I know if you are idling a lot or not putting the engine under a load for so much time the engine won’t build up enough heat to do a auto regen or burn off and the more that u have to regen or burn you will fill the dpf filter with ash and you might. Have to replace it
I know absolutely nothing about it, but maybe fill the hydraulic fluid when you finish at night to see if any is leaking over night when the combine is shut off? Might help narrow down where it is leaking.
Yes when you sit and idle it will want to regen after awhile...if you don't run those regens regularly when it says to you will end up having to change out the one box and it cost 10k.. Is fuel more important than 10k? I suggest when they are sitting to turn off the engine as much as possible..m
Since you don’t dry & store your corn, do you have to pay the co-op to dry it down to 15% or will it dry down in the building since it’s so warm in Alabama? I’ve been watching farmers a long time, learned a lot. I always wondered why you didn’t store any. Is that a regional thing or just your farm? The corn prices are awful since the market is flooded with it. I really hope you locked in a good sale price. Farmers put in so much work & it’s a gamble every year. You can’t control the weather or the markets.
Curious what the University says about potential remediation for charcoal rot. Once in 100 years condition or are there soil friendly spray options that do not kill off all the soil health friendly helpers.
Don’t think I’d drop that smaller filter inside that bigger one like I’ve seen you do a few times. I feel like that is contaminates the clean side of that bigger filter.
Daniel, from my experience, with DEF, what you said about running the remote up high enough will cause that to have to park burn, Good morning Granny how are you
Our 8285R has all the emissions crap on it that throws codes at you. Our 8295R is a 1st generation pre-def, pre emissions model from 2009. It's basically a leftover 8330. I hate all of that dadblame power robbing re-gen emissions crap.
Daniel great video in Ohio don't believe I have ever heard of that problem before we will see spots like that on occasion next time we will have to do a little investigation and see what is going on morning Granny
Daniel I've have a seal go out on the inside of a hydraulic motor ware it runs a auger. So you don't see the leak because it's dripping Into the corn or trash discharge. These are very hard to find.
I am going to ask this one more time. What is the chain link size that the bulldozer was pulled out with. Been asking since the 4 machines got stuck video.
For your def code question I would suggest you...and don't laugh!....pose your question to Chatgpt....I am a 75 year old farmer in California and have started using this AI resource and am absolutely blown away with the speed, accuracy and the "I didn't know that factor" of its responses.....Have used it for questions about rotational grazing, pasture plant selection, GPS auto steer, carpentry, LS engine swap into classic cars and the list goes on....IMHO all farmers need to add AI to their tool box...keep up the great videos
Not sure about Daniel but I’m a few hours NE of him, beans are not looking good this year especially the double crop beans. We hardly got any rain after we planted the double crop. If it’s not under a pivot it’s going to struggle this year
@@deangelojeremitriusvickers6319 I'm from Northern Missouri. Record corn and bean yield are expected. 2022 we had Record corn yields. Yet this year. We've been cooler and more rain. good example of having good people that work for you and you good to your people
Yep, they all work well together to help each other fix things.

Great drone footage. May God bless
The way this agriculture technology is presented is very engaging.
Farmers are my heroes, being an old farm boy myself! God bless!
Thanks for the video of corn harvest Daniel keep up the great work 👍❤️. Take care of yourself and family and friends and be Blessed ❤️❤️. Hi Granny have a Blessed week.❤
Thanks!
Particulate burn may only get some of the DEF system cleaned out. You may need to service your particulate system serviced (removed and cleaned manually).
do you mean the particulate filter?
If the exhaust dont get hot enough it will not burn completely but the dpf filter may be getting full of ash from regening all the time
You’re Blessed with a great team. Mr Roy is always smiling too.
That’s some nice dry land yields!
My man Daniel is getting good w the drone, channel gets better every year, really enjoying watching the southern boys farm, so different than up north, hey from the Big D XXXR Farms!

DeKalb 69-99 is a great variety, the Trecepta trait will give you more kernels due to no worm damage. 66-06 is another excellent yielding variety!!
As a few have stated, your dpf is probably gonna need to removed and cleaned. Always a possibility of a sensor. We have had service techs do a forced regen with their laptop and that seems to help for a little while longer.

Great drone video Daniel. Love watching those combines work. Amazing machine.
Let us know if they have an answer for your charcoal rot.
Thanks for showing yield, very interesting thanks for your honesty!!!!

I agree check the transmission final drive fluid.
Slipping the clutch sometimes throws codes when filling trucks with grain cart.
It sure does, thanks for watching 😁👍

I've heard of hydro fluid bypassing into transmission. Check the level in trans, if it's way up, you know where your oil has gone.
I can’t believe how good this is!
CORN'S ALWAYS THE BEST DADDIO
Your sight glass is upside down...........🤣🤣
When you have a man like Roy, who is paying attention, you are truly blessed.

You may have to check every square inch of the combine the hydraulic fluid could be lost during operation the leak could be in an area where you can’t see
wash it with cold water no soap and you will see where the oil is when the water hits it at that spot
Check your transmission fluid level
Great video keep it up
God bless our farmers. Good to get corn out to bed.
The leak must be on the drive system. Leaking only when you’re moving.
You need to do some serious soil sampling. Preferably grid sampling. The only way you'll find out why your corn is so uneven
We would love to see the plant pathologist show what he finds and explain how it affects the plants.

have a friend that specialises getting rid of the crap on trucks tractors combine farm sprayers.
That Roy has got the gift.
there could be small hole in hydraulic tank. check engile oil make surere it doesnt leak into there.
Enjoyed the video very much. Drone footage was outstanding. Charcoal rot very interesting. If it is in the soil how do you get rid of it?
I had an 8270r do that to me last spring , it was a bad sensor in the exhaust system.
Just a big pain dealing with sensors, thanks for watching 👍😁
Good morning farm world
I know if you are idling a lot or not putting the engine under a load for so much time the engine won’t build up enough heat to do a auto regen or burn off and the more that u have to regen or burn you will fill the dpf filter with ash and you might. Have to replace it
You need to get one of those rotary air filter cleaners, they do a way better job. Happy harvest season🍻
Jd is going to want 15k for a new exhaust filter and sensors are another 2k.
I know absolutely nothing about it, but maybe fill the hydraulic fluid when you finish at night to see if any is leaking over night when the combine is shut off? Might help narrow down where it is leaking.
Only time I’ve had to do that was when it was shut off a couple times while trying to clean. Only problem in 5000 hrs with a 8335
Little corner… ha! That field looks massive. 1/2 mile or mile long rows?
Harvest seems to be going well. Can the folks at Auburn help get the rotting problem solved under control?
You’d think so with their Ag program
Y’all need the 360 rain irrigation machine that border view farms has , it covers more of the field
Granny, Good morning!! Great video DANIEL!!

Darn! Talk about a "bad spot"?! "We" have to fix that next year.
That would be nice to harvest corn first and not fighting snow😢
We have never had to do that, thanks for watching 😁👍
Great video.
Might be where the water washes do that field, and he washed all your fertilizer out
No it was confirmed charcoal rot, thanks for watching 😁👍
Seal on the output shaft of an hydraulic motor is leaking into a gear case. You’ll find it sooner or later
Need do some soil samples in those bad areas
Good morning Daniel and Granny.

Hey Danial, I have been going back to the start of the begenning of your video's watching them all. I will get caught up. Hey Granny.
👋

Enjoyed the video Daniel
It may be going in your rotor rotor gearbox may be bad and it’s letting hydraulic oil into the rotor
Maybe we don’t have a clue where it’s going, thanks for watching 👍😁
did you put any fungiside on your corn looks like you got some tar spot or something in that corn right there not sure why it is so spotty like that
I would check nematodes
Corn might have got struck by lighting.
Good guess but it was over 100 acres affected in that field, thanks for watching 😁👍
Where's your dad been? Pray He's alright 👍 🙏
Good job guys
That harvest will be done before you know it. That damn DEF. Our equipment is too old for DEF and I don't mind.
I would say you’re spot on on the emissions question. I think these newer Deere tractors like to be ran over 1500 rpm’s to keep from plugging up
Do you think it might br a fertilizer issue
You think maybe you have a sand pocket going through that field or something to that effect
Yes we can see it. Ive never seen Corn like that whats wrong with that part of the crop looks like roundup drift hit it.
I think it would help if every 10 yrs the ground got plowed with a bottom plow, but hey, I only farmed for 60+ years, what do I know !!
Daniel great video in Ohio don't believe I have ever heard of that problem before we will see spots like that on occasion next time we will have to do a little investigation and see what is going on morning Granny

Do you spray fungicide on the corn?
I am going to ask this one more time. What is the chain link size that the bulldozer was pulled out with. Been asking since the 4 machines got stuck video.
I'd check your hydrostat hoses and o-rings.
You can also call it corn smut...
Ag express for your screen repair
have your agronomist come look at it the corn
Low engine RPM’s will cause a lot aftertreatment problems. Delete the tractor

find you a good older unit that dose not have that def or re gen junk on it
Delete that baby! No more DEF problems! 🤣😂🤣😂
Whats your expected bean yields this year? Overall corn yield average this year?? U do a great job!!
