    Clutch connector had come undone in transit after buying. Everybody I asked was sending me down different rabbit holes that wouldn’t have fixed the problem. Thank you

    I have intermittent engine cutting out on Gen 2 SV650, FI code showing. I thought it might be side stand sensor, but thanks to this video it appears to be the tilt sensor, so many thanks 🙂

    I bought the bike used and don't know if the ignition was replaced but I'm getting the c-42 code. So what do you do with that? By the way great video good job one-handed disconnect.

    My zuzuki sv1000s 2006 got rain on. Then it stopped to work. Everything works BUT My top butterflys are locked wide open and i hear the gas pump but i dont see any gas squirting in the carbs. Yes injectors are cleaned. Is this issue a posible relay\sensor somewhere or the lil top butterfly motor thats attached to its side?

      start with fuses. and then check the connectors to the throttle bodies and ecu. something shorted out...

    Hey man, thanks for the video. Currently
    - Battery reads 12 but it’s a bit old but always hooked to a tender. 11v now after trying to start it a few times.
    - when I bridge the relay, I get a spark but no crank
    - I pulled the starter motor and it works when I connect it to the battery
    Any suggestions?

      is the engine ground on the engine well? can you turn the engine over by hand?
      11v is way low, should be 12.8 or so

    Hey! What could be causing a crank-no start on a first gen? I confirmed that the vacuum petcock and fuel pump worked and tried spraying starter fluid in the spark plug holes. I confirmed that the spark plugs weren’t fouled and they have white spark. I also just replaced the battery. Sometimes it will backfire but still wont start. I made a post about this on the svrider forums but still no fix as of yet.

      no spark would have been cdi or some other electrical. but since it has spark, your answer is either fuel or time. if it runs on starter fluid in the airbox, it's a fuel problem.

      @@Mad8vCycles going to look at a 2000 650 today. Crank but no start.owner says it would idle buy die when you give throttle. Sat for a month and now just cranks. I'm gonna check spark and spray starting fluid in the air box. Only thing I'm worried about is no compression or bad timing. Any other concerns or suggestions?

    Awesome channel! I have just bought a 2006 SV 650S with 17000km and love every minute on it. I want to ask you about your double frame sliders. Would you mind sharing the dimensions and bolt lengths? I intend to make my own from acetyl nylon bar and don't have any info to go on.

      Just buy r&g or something. You need a bunch more stuff than just delrin. Dimensions are basically whatever you want them to be but longer ones can dig in more.

    Currently in a cab on my way home after the “click-no-turn-over” moment. Will be trying the jumping the starter relay tomorrow when I get to work. Will it do any damage to parts (apart from the screwdriver, though I’ll have large gauge wire to do it) that’ll need replacing? Is it a one-and-done situation to get you home, or can you do it multiple times? Thanks for the video; very useful in my time of need!

      Should not damage anything else. Also bumpstarting it (get it rolling by pushing, switch to 2nd, dump the clutch) will work as well.
      And yes you can do it multiple times...

    The only time my 1999 SV650S wouldn't start, I pulled over for a coffee, pushed the starter and the bike made the peculiar noise the sv makes sometimes when you switch it off, tha battery showed 13v ,push the starter and it went to 4 volts, just like that with no warning a two year battery died.

    yo this dope greate video my sv chokes on itself and would not start could be fuel pump , sparkplag , dirty air fileters or fuel injector. for the past couple of months on cold start it would initiate then choke for second so u had to press start butom for one more second to get it going. should have chack it earlier ....

    Listen for the fuel pump coming on. If not the barrel lock or key is worn. Spray barrel with wd40 or similar. There is an electrical connection in the barrel that the key engages to start the fuel pump.

      Wd is awful for locks. Graphite lube or take it apart and clean it.
      Fuel pump isnt really going to be the symptom from an ignition since the rest of the bike wont go on

    Hello, I recently purchased a 2000 SV650 from someone who claimed that it only required a carburetor cleaning. I went ahead and cleaned the carburetor but the bike still won't start. The engine cranks over and spins but doesn't start. I haven't heard the whining sound from the fuel pump when I turn the key, but I can see gas flowing through the fuel lines. I'm planning to check the spark plug next. The previous owner showed me a video of the bike running before I purchased it. Could you please advise me on what could be the issue? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

      Carb bike = no fuel pump.
      Does it run on spray? If it does you have a fuel problem. If it doesnt check spark.
      If it doesnt spark, it could be ecu, 100ohm antitheft, coils, spark plugs, pickup coil.

    I've got a unique issue. My sv1000 cranks fine and started once, but would sputter and die eventually, and couldn't get it restarted. The pump primes everytime and the bike backfires a lot. So it has fuel clearly. Any ideas?

      @@SupramanTRD could be air, could be timing issues (or flywheel magnets plugging up the sensor). Does it have spark?

    Hey man, I think you could probably help me with my 02 sv650s
    Yesterday it suddenly completely went black when I was out riding (had to push the bike back home)
    When I checked the bike I saw it had a dead battery so I changed it to an extra battery I had but I’m not quite sure it fits because it’s from Honda (but when I turn the key, the lights come on and the starter cranks)
    I have checked the fuse box (all fuses intact)
    I have checked the gas, kickstand, and clutch.
    I can’t bump start the motorcycle
    Any ideas?

    I have a 09 that shut off on the freeway. Started relay clicks but no crank. If I bridge the starter with the screw driver, do I need to hold the clutch and press the starter button or just keep it in neutral and tap the terminals ?

    So I’m pretty sure mine is either the fuse or solenoid. Turn key In neutral, fuel pump works, gas in the tank kickstand up. Press the starter, nothing happens. No noise. Nothing. However if I use the screw driver method and bypass the solenoid it turns over completely fine. Am I right to assume it’s either solenoid or fuse?

      Try bypassing the sidestand and clutch switches with a jumper wire. If it still doesnt work yeah it's solenoid

    Hi, saw your video..my pump doesn't make the sound on starting, changed already the relay but same problem. It starts sometimes...cleaned the pump, check the motor pump...all good...
    I measure the power from relay, i have permanent + but not on the exit..

      take a look at the wiring diagram (i'm assuming you have a 2g...) cycles.evanfell.com/2013/01/suzuki-sv650-wiring-diagram/#prettyPhoto/0/
      the yellow/red wire goes to the relay and to the injectors. the black with white is ground. the other one or two are the fuel thermistor which doesnt matter.
      you should have some fairly high resistance between the yellow/red and black/white wires but not an open circuit.
      honestly i'd start at the right switch (on/off) on the bars and work my way down. switch and its conenctor being a common culprit.

The plus one that goes in the computer is ok, the other one that goes to the clock is ok, injectors ok...but i can see that my computer is cracked, maybe some whater damage inside because it doesn t let plus voltage to go out from repay

      That's possible also I would check that none of the terminals on the fuse Box are loose

    Good info, you mentioned "could be the tip-over sensor". How would you know whether or not that's the culprit? Or best/easiest way to find out on the fly I guess. And if it is, I assume you can bypass it pretty much the same way as clutch/kickstand switch? Thanks man

      This was my problem recently when the bike would crank but not fire. The mechanism inside the tilt switch was stuck in the tillted position. We didnt find this out until we hooked up a scan tool and it told us 'Tilt sensor ON'.

      tipover needs 2 100ohm resistors to bypass.
      it would throw a code in dealer mode and youd see it on the screen

    03 suzuki new fuel pump starts up and idles at 9000 rpm (must have vacuum leak because it runs great but the bottom butter Flys are closed right) got new pressure regulator and I have to pump the gas to keep pressure 47 old reg 17 new so I could go on but u probly no what is wrong and does the fuse box have power all the time the middle fuse on left has no power with key on thank u

      9000rpm is really high. turn down the idle. unless you mean 900 at which point turn it up. there's a knob on a long cable coming off the throttle bodies. maybe do the tps adjustment as well. also the bike will run weird without the airbox on.
      what do you mean middle fuse, there's 8 in 2 rows??
      there's a whole pile of electrical troubleshooting pages in the service manual, but sounds like you have an open circuit somewhere

    Neutral light not on but you know the bike is in neutral check the gear switch sensor.

    I have a 2001 sv650s first bike ever owned so I’m cautious and needing help. Was up and running for a while, stopped riding due to cold weather and now when I turn on the key and killswitch off ready to start I don’t hear the pump priming anymore like I once did. Brand new battery in the bike so it’s not that. Levers work. Everything checks out green besides the pump priming issue. Where do I find this part on the bike and where can I get a new one?

      there is no prime sound on a 2001... first gen have a vacuum pump...
      does it turn over?

    Bro i got spark plugs sparking. Gas pump pumping and engine turning over. Everything good injectors do work but they dont seem to spray. What makes the injectos active? My bike gor rained on and that ruined it

      ecu activates them. so see if you have bad connections on the ecu, or the throttle body subharness

      @Marinald Haxhillari on a 2g pump working and bike not starting can be a whole slew of things. cause could be spark, could be injectors, could be antitheft, could be a whole lot of weird shit.
      actually... same on 1g. about the only "known" is if the bike runs on starting fluid it's a fuel delivery issue.

      is it getting fuel and is it getting spark? if no fuel then petcock, pump, carbs... if no spark, cdi, antitheft 100ohm, coilpacks

    I dropped my bike on the left side at a dead stop. Broke the clutch lever, put a cheapo off my 4wheeler but now the ignition starts but no sound on the starter. Clutch sensor issue?

      @@Mad8vCycles ok and since then I have a new issue..I was messing with it so much trying to get it started before I thought about the clutch sensor. That now my cluster turns on for about 5 seconds then fades back out. And if I turn the key off and do it again the cluster doesn’t even turn on at all. It only lights up the cluster when I let it sit for a while, but then like I mentioned it only lasts 5-10 seconds before everything fades out. Is it a battery issue?

I heard you’re supposed to do it at the ECM or else you change to a neutral mapping? I also heard you can wire it to the flash to pass button without affecting the mapping

    I have a Suzuki 750 Catana 1989 . I been unable to find the main 30 amp Fuse . I bought the book and I don't see any picture with the location. Please can you help me.

      Follow the + RED wire from the battery. It will go into the starter solenoid. The 30a fuse is on that thing

    I know this was a year ago but worth asking I've just fitted a new engine to my bike after I threw a rod 😅 I've connected everything back up but won't start engine will crank to about 500rpm. engine is from same year sv with only 5k miles on it have done compression test got 178 and 182 psi on front and back have replaced coils with leads and caps and spark plugs and have a spark have also put 99 octane fuel in and ran through a few times to clean tank out also replaced battery and starter relay no fault lights on dash so running out of ideas.

      suck squeeze bang blow.... if you're getting air and fuel and spark, but aren't getting any bang, you either have a time issue, or something else.

      if you have a 2nd gen, you need to cut a wire over by the ecu so that it doesnt run the "clutch in" map

    bikes stuck in 2nd gear ...try to start it lurches foward a little and tries to crank but wont ..... ideas??

      Put it in neutral? Your clutch is probably stuck together

    Hi I bought a 1g and unable to start it. After charging the battery it dies after about 4 attempts. Also don’t know hot to check if fuel pump or petcock working and where can I locate the tipover sensor on a 1g?

      1g doesnt have a tippver sensor

      You can check the petcock by putting a bit of vacuum on the hose going to the back of the carb (just suck on it... i showed it in the tank removal/draining video). Fuel pump is... Basically optional. Bike will work a little even without it

      Did you check spark also? If it runs on starter fluid, you have a fuel problem.

      green connector of death is the ignition barrel's connector. it's in front/under the airbox. you can kinda see getting to it here: ruclips.net/video/auft7i16fKk/видео.html

    My bike cranks new Batterie spark is alright fuelpump also ok Last Time it was on i had lil bit white smoke out of the muffler oil in the gas but why is This bike not starting

      Suck squeeze bang blow... so either fuel or spark. See if you have fuel fogging out if the injectors. See if you have spark.

      @@Mad8vCycles i saw Sparks and sprayed some gasoline into the chamber and it ran for like 2 Sekonds but spark is fine and pump is also fine

      How old is the gas in it? If it runs on starter fluid it's a fuel issue

    Hi ..2000 SV650 .I have tried all of those..new battery.. light's go on.. nothing when I press the start button.. light's don't go dim.. nothing at all.. can you write what could be the next list of possible causes..

      Ok, so if the clutch/kickstand/neutral are out of the question... (make sure theyre all bypassed etc)... the next thing to check would be the starter solenoid. And then the right control pod (buttons working, connector plugged in). If it's not cranking it's usually something simple

      I want to drain the tank and flush it out.. would the petcock or fuel sensor gauge be the best place to drain it from.. And is there a chance I would need a new gasket if there is one when I replace the petcock or fuel sensor gauge? what would you recommend..

      I did a video on draining 1g tanks actually heh. Easiest way is using the petcock

      youd need about $800 worth of stuff, but it's pretty easy to do.
      off the top of my head: fairing stay brackets, headlight, main fairing ($$$$), mirrors, wiring subharness, windshield, inner fairing plastics.

      will it run on starting fluid? if it will, it's a fuel problem

      tipover sensor would cause it to throw a Fi code on the dash which would show c23 in dealer mode

    2007 SV650S bike crunk fine in the morning stopped for breakfast crunk fine after leaving restaurant. Got to work and later that day went to leave and starter switch didn’t make any noise all it would do when I press it was make my headlights go off like it was gonna crank. It’s basically like the pass button now just on the opposite side. I’ve been bypassing starter relay with screw driver for past few days waiting for new relay to come in. Just got relay and it’s still not doing anything, no noise when I press button or anything all it does is make my headlights go off just like the yellow pass button. What you think I should check? Also I took the starter button/kill switch assembly apart wiped everything off and checked everything and put it all back together and it’s still doing the same thing. I got tired of taking my seat off to bypass relay so I just ran two thick wires to the side of bike that are hidden with wire nuts on the ends to make my connection when needed. Thanks man

      Id still think the relay is bad or the connection. If it's dimming lights it's trying.
