Well done , good video , plenty action . Reminds me the time creating mini bars of silver in loch etive , just like you using light tackle . Well worth it .
@@robertmeikle3172 Yeah never know Robert, I hope it does man, and yeah I stay across the road from it, less than 2 minute walk for me 😂 is it just me or has the wind lately been absolutely horrendous!! Not done a lot of sea fishing for a while because of it!!
I remember a long time back where a lot of sea trout had moved into a local burn mouth(Orkney) after heavy rain and we were fishing it. Had a few and then heavy rain came and they were literally "boiling" on the surface and every cast produced a trout, so rain obviously triggers some sort of feeding reaction. Why, I don't know. Enjoyed the video and keep it up.
Thanks Iain really appreciate that and thanks for sharing that great bit of information, what you described is exactly how it was in this video! As soon as rain fell it felt like it triggered a feeding habit? It was amazing
Another enjoyable watch, great session. I haven't really noticed a difference, but I haven't thought about it either but will do from now on. Must be honest, I'm on a bit of a lean streak at the moment!
Thanks as always Colin, those grey rainy days just seem to make them a bit more active for me, it could be a figment of my imagination 🤣 How has your fishing been recently mate?
ive had good days and stinkers in the rain, but i always read that the big fish are more active during low pressure systems, when i was young i used to wait to the weather was blowin a gale and raining used to get some fish, that was a sterling session anyway mate top stuff 👍👍
Cheers Gary, and Loch Long is great for Pollock as is Loch Fyne at Furnace! Sea trout fishing is great all along the Clyde estuary, any where with a bit of fresh water entering the Sea is usually pretty decent I think
Great video mate just subscribed to your page. Loch long aint that far from me do you get sea trout here right through july a will be passing here soon 🤔
Hi Allan, really appreciate that, and I have been getting them all year round mate, in the summer for me I tend to start catching bigger ones, so if you decide to go good luck Allan and tightlines 😀
Brilliant session 👍 Couldn't really say either way about the rain because only started specifically targeting them in the sea this season and we haven't had any rain to speak of. Was that the blue sprat? I don't have any whitebait yet, only sandeel shoals so maybe I'd be better with silver.
Thanks Daz, appreciate it, and for me personally when it rains I just seem to notice Sea Trout being more active on the surface, maybe because the drops of rain are creating a distribution?? And the lure was a 12 gram Super sprat mate 😃
Great session 👍. A couple of wee questions - I've read changing trebles to singles, and using 2 split rings rather than one can help hook-ups as potentially less leverage available. Have you any experience of that? Also (newbie question coming up) do you fish from the shore for sea trout all year or is it confined to say Feb-June or thereabouts?
Thanks Millarj1 I can’t comment on the split rings as I’ve never attempted it yet sorry, and for the shore fishing for Sea trout I’ve caught them all year round but they tend to be more active in warmer months 😃
Hi Kristopher this mark is across the road from where I stay, so it’s somewhere I’ve fished for the last 20 years unfortunately this year has been the worst for producing fish from it, absolutely nothing recently, but if it’s sea trout fishing you stay very close to some amazing sea trout areas if you stay in port Glasgow? Where have you tried recently mate?
@@KristopherMcdonald-dx5et I had a look on google maps at it and it looks really good, seems like a nice sandy area, 100% sea trout there! What have you been using tackle wise?
Good watch ,ur not far from me, ive had the poorest year for sea trout so far, they dont seem to be feeding down hear, hopefully picks up in the next few weeks. Barbles hooks for sea trout 😮 fair play , if you use double spit rings or a line through lure like savage gear sandel there less likely to spit the hook, im testing the singe hook method just now.
So far I think less hook ups but they don't get of when you do set the hook, still early days trying different lures ,I think using a smaller lure with single might be the way forward.

It had been going ok, but my last 3 sessions I've blanked. Nothing! Just have to fish myself through it I guess!
You're inspiring me to get some waders and a proper lure rod!
Thanks James, you really should mate, absolutely brilliant fun 😀
