    I've a number of nine foot rods that are now eight and a half 😧. As you say it's part of fishing and an excuse to buy another. The consolation is that a good fish was responsible rather that a tip wrap 😬

      😂 So true mate, the rod was £35 so Atleast it isn’t to much of a drama to replace it, but looking forward to looking at different rods to purchase haha

    Great shame, but then again great session! Those coalies can really pull when they've a bit of weight behind em!
    I'd be inclined to use a telescopic net handle in those situations, often on rocks you're high up from the water, and it may have reduced the angle as you drew the fish close to net it? May have saved the rod! 😢 👍

    • @theanglingfront
      @theanglingfront  Год назад

      Yeah totally agree, it’s a good net for wading low water but it’s a ball ache to reach when you on higher ground

    Nice fish. Have you managed to catch any Bass in your local area yet? Have tried a few marks on the Clyde but no luck yet. Maybe have to go further south into Aryshire?.

    • @theanglingfront
      @theanglingfront  Год назад +1

      Thanks Brian, and I’ve only ever had a handful of Sea Bass on the Clyde, over the past 8 years, all small Schoalies but they still put up a decent fight, all of them were caught targeting sea trout of coarse, 😃

    Feel for you fella, but if you show this clip to the shop where you bought the rod theyll point out that you cant bend a tip back on itself like that without a good chance of it breaking. Well done on your fish. 👍👍👍👍

    Keep thw rod 45° or less when playing fish and when they get under the rod tip the down ward force at sharp angles will snap the rod 8/10 times

    Unlucky, you 'high-sticked' your rod, carbon doesn't like being put under strain at such a sharp angle, get yourself a landing net with a bit of a longer handle or walk the fish into the shallows
