    Just started lure and float fishing after watching your vids after many years with beach caster up here in South West Scotland. Even got my wife into it, bonus! Caught some nice pollack, wrasse, coalfish, doggies, mackerel, odd conga etc. off the rocks. Only started Aug last year, but think I now prefer lure and float, for one thing you don’t have to break your back digging worms! Enjoy your vids, keep it up.👍🏼

      That is awesome! Yeah, it's one of that attractions to me, not being tied to needing bait and not having to carry a ton of gear around. Not a bad species count for such a short time fishing that style. Roll on Spring and Tight Lines🎣👍

    This is a great video. Well done with the stuck Pollack - very inspiring 'cos I have been stuck before and 'not stuck it out'. I will now. Thanks for posting fella. I don't expect to read about you washing up after a fall any time soon. Cheers! Dave.

    Good days fishing at this time of year again. Nice fish.
    It looked quite calm compared to the swells today. I Got as far as Dunbar today heading for Coldingham. Saw the waves, then headed back to Cockenzie in the firth of forth were it was a bit more sheltered but the fishing was shit. Hey ho
    thats fishing🖒🎣

      Stevie Wright yeah it was a canny session and the calm seas made the fishing comfortable for this time of year. I use magicseaweed. Com to give a pretty reliable indication of what the swell is doing although it's not always accurate. Thanks for your comment again

      Kc92 Trust me
      The man has quite a dangerous climb to get down to these marks but as he shows. Its worth it most of the time. I think most people would have second thoughts just looking down the cliffs to these spots especially on your own.
      Its not for those that fear heights but its a trully breathtaking, stunning area🖒

    I have been trying some metals and various spinners of the rocks and back of the piers but I haven't caught a single fish apart from one mackerel the other day. The last decent fish I caught was in late October then all the fish seemed to vanish.

    Nice one Nathan 😎 I wish people if they are going to take a fish for the table would do the right thing and use a priest right away instead of throwing them in a bag to flap about, annoys the life out if me...

      @SlippyLimpets  6 лет назад +6

      Colin Mccallum I totally agree with you, can't stand to see that either. What you can't see on the vid though is that Dan did dispatch the fish but he used a knife through the head/brain rather than a priest, then he gutted it before he put it in the bag.

    Always a joy to watch, but could I suggest that you might dedicate one outing to safety & awareness
    when fishing in your great locations that , for the less wary there is danger afoot. Your films are fantastic
    & your local knowledge appears to be second to none. The RNLI have excellent advice. I do I no wish to be a killjoy,
    your films are worthy of sponsorship from a like minded Angler of means.. You never know. Cheers. & thanks for the pleasure
    that watching your exploits has given me.

      It's my pleasure and glad you like them. I do meet alot of people who have seen my videos and have tried to get to the marks but often turn back due to the hazardous nature of the area, so it does make sense to do a safety video to help people fish safely. I'll see what I can do. I m not sure what you mean by sponsorship, but if you'd like to reach me off air then my email is slippylimpets@outlook.com. Yet another great video, those Zen lures seem to be the ones the Pollock favour. After hearing of the body found a thought had crossed my mind. Do you wear or consider wearing a life jacket or buoyancy aid whilst fishing ? With such difficult terrain I would think it’s easy to stumble and fall in the water. Good choice of music by the way, keep the videos coming.

    • @SlippyLimpets
      @SlippyLimpets  6 лет назад

      Stephen Cook yep, most sea fish like the Zen, I've even seen them catch plenty of wrasse in North Wales. Anglers wearing life jackets seems to be a hot topic at the moment, I have considered using some sort of pfd especially fishing remote areas, but I haven't found anything suitable for my needs yet. The self inflating style are comfortable to wear on land Nd great if you're in the water for a long time, or have hit your head on the way in, but they make it nearly impossible to climb back out of the water with that huge airbag hindering arm movement. A normal foam pfd seems like a good option but they're not all that comfortable to hike in...

      Alec Tindal Hi Alec, the fishing has been really poor for April, I've had more blanks up that way this year compared to other years, so probs worth waiting for the weather/sea to warm up a bit. • @SlippyLimpets
      @SlippyLimpets  6 лет назад +1

      Russ Meek thanks for your comment Russ! Lure fishing is all about trial and error and depends heavily on the area you're fishing but I try to use a lure that imitates what I think the fish might be eating eg. If there are sand eels about then I'll use a sandeel lure. But if all else fails then shiny metal lure always seems to work well.l

    Hi mate, just subbed, love it. Result for March like. I take it you're into very deep water there? I generally wouldn't have any luck on lures this end until June!
    That's a canny net, do you know the name of it? Been looking for a good rock landing net.
    Final question, what's that Zen metal lure you're using?

    • @SlippyLimpets
      @SlippyLimpets  5 лет назад +1

      Thanks for the sub!!👍👍 I thought the same about lure fishing in winter until I gave it a go. The trick is to fish really slowly.
      Yeah, it's around 16m deep so that probably helps with the winter fishing. The net wasn't mine but I think it's called a Diawa Mobile Landing Net Handle and then you add your own net to it. Very handy and I keep meaning to buy myself one.
      The lure is a one of the most successfull i've used and it's the cheapest at about £1.50 each, it has re-branded from the Zen to RazorClaw Silver Minnow 28g, they've been out of stock for a year but I found them on ebay last week!
      Hope this helps and tigh lines!
