- I had no idea this rescue will turn to be like that... Sunshine was fighting with everything she had! Between Brenda, Loreta and I, we were able to gain control over this terrier who almost got away!

I just shake my head in wonder at how these dogs who are so scared to begin with just move on into their new life, trusting and loving their human helpers. Incredible.
@Amy Hinton No. Humans just don't realize that they have the capability to bounce back from fear and move on trusting and loving others just as well as any animal can.
It is one of the greatest things about dogs (and maybe one of the most tragic). We have bred them for 10s of thousands of years to be our companions that even when they are severely mistreated and abused by humans, they are still extremely willing to forgive and forget and love humans again.

Mina, I just thinking about what you said and this is what i thought about that this is exactly what people do when they want to come to the truth about knowing God. They are scared and mad to leave the darkness. The this little dog will live happy. I hope it didn't leave any babies behind.

I am amazed at the way Eldad is able to size up the situation and can usually predict, from the dog’s behavior, what HE needs to do to help facilitate the rescue.
That is a skill acquired by experience, I know - but I also believe it’s a gift Eldad possesses because he is so committed to this labor of love.

I love that you try to ease her and heal her soul first. Dogs are smart, but even many people see procedures more like abuse than helping, it must be terrifying to an animal that is already traumatized.

I love when they get a bath, it's like washing all the stress and street off them and you can see in their eyes that they know this too. I love watching them sleep after a bath. I bet the next day their facial expression is totally changed.

Seriously, great catch, y’all. ( I taught a kid named Serenity once. Her name was... ironic.)
Names can be very powerful. I remember reading a supposedly true story about an animal shelter which was having a lot of trouble with a Doberman that had been left on their hands. The previous owner had named the dog "Killer" and treated it badly with the result that Killer had a very aggressive temperament. Dobermans already have a reputation for being an intimidating breed, with the result that people are less likely to adopt one which ends up in a shelter -- and Killer's temperament made it even less likely that anyone would want him, raising the odds that he might eventually need to be put to sleep. Out of desperation, one of the people on staff at the shelter suggested giving him a new name -- they decided to call him Baby. Within a few weeks, Killer began living up to his new name by quieting down significantly...and it was not that long before someone adopted him.
I named my daughter Storm. Let me tell you she lived up to her name in her teenage years. I often wondered if I'd named her Serenity if that would have still held true.

I raised a dog for 12 years… He meant everything to me, and he died 4 years ago. Even now I cry when I remember him
