The wonderful Greece. I'm glad to see you shooting there. Monochrome is definitely for you, do not worry. In a short while you will have a solid collection of genius pictures made with this camera. So many beautiful shots in this episode also. Layered or not layered your shots are on top. Great work, as always👏👏🔥🔥
Hi Alexandru :) Greece is wonderful indeed... and the FOOD OH MY :) Thanks for the support :) Layered is the goal but doesn't work very often :) However, what works often recently are the pastries :)) Thanks again for watching ! :)
Your timing and visual sense is absolutely stunning. Yes, the Q2 monochrome is great but as I always say, It is you who captures those moments and transform them into art. Very few have the talent. Keep it up.
Beautiful work. Thank you for sharing. I could almost taste the baklava. That was fun to watch too. So, f8 zone focussing? What are the general settings you use for this kind of shooting? Thank you. 🙏.
Loved your take on alex webb his wirk and how you cannot take these shots elswhere, totally agreed! They can inspire and then you go out and do your own with it! Great shots with the Q2m mate
I'm from Cyprus and I was laughing so much at some of the Greek comments! :) I'm more of a color person, but I loved all of your B&W shots and definitely the style suits you! And yes, Greece has the BEST food😀!!!
Hey Octavian! Une nouvelle fois trop trop bien tes photos. Il y en a vraiment des excellentes! Couleur ou noir et blanc… Continue surtout de nous inspirer! J’adore! ❤
To me, it’s about the content of the images. I feel that street scenes and shots with a lot of context look better in colour. When the focus is on a specific subject or the subject is isolated it tends to look better in B&W.
Really some great shots Octavian! 🔥 Monochrome or not, it works. I wish I could go to a warmer sunny place, than cold, wet and dark Denmark... Very inspiring video.
HI Jan ! Thanks for watching and for the kind words. This winter seems so long and so grey and rainy here. If it wouldn't be for my short 2-3 days trips outside Belgium I would probably be depressed by now. Somehow I think Denmark is worse as you get less light.. BUT the thing that I really miss is the sun. I hope one day I can move in Rome haha. Cheers !
Excellent images! I had been bouncing back and forth between the Q2 and Q2 Monochrom. I have since picked up the Q3. However, the "simplicity" of the monochrome sensor is very appealing. When I say simplicity, I mean that by removing the option for color to tell the story, my thought process is simplified to thinking strictly about light, shapes, and shadows, and how they interact with each other. Not sure if I will eventually switch back. For now I will convert in post when the image calls for it. Sadly we live in a small city, so there are far less street photography opportunities near where I live.
Great one my friend. So many great shots again. Btw before having the Q2 (and still now) I shoot in bnw on the Fuji even if the picture is meant to be in color. I learned to see the colors and contrasts while shooting in bnw .
Thank you Dan ! I am great you liked the video and the shots :)That's a very nice approach : I learnt to see the colors while shooting BNW heheh. This can be a topic for one of my videos after I will use more the Q2M :) Thanks for tuning in :) See you soon !
Had to be quick and the result is no. 10, the hat & the glasses, great ! No. 11, nice too ! Nos. 13 + 14, fine detailed ! No. 18, 19, of course, no. 22, beauties they are !
4.27, the hat and cigarette was my favourite. Great camera but I like shooting both mono/colour so I’m glad I have the colour version. If I want mono only I set it on highest quality JPEGs and mono high contrast plus an orange filter on lens, works quite well. Another lovely video as always Octavian, thanks.
Thanks a lot Victor ! Glad you enjoyed it (yet one more time) I agree with you but somehow getting out of the house only with the option to shoot BW, it somehow changes my mind set (or at least, this is what I want to think) :). Thank you ! Cheers !
Wonderful work and shots again with the Q2M. Please keep on using this unik camera, I think will love it even more You use it....And also try out some filters 😎👍
Hi, Nice b&w-shots, Leica quality. 👍 My favourites are 10 , 15 , 6 , because I think that these shots are more in accordance with your great color shots. So my advice would be keep on doing both b&w and colour. 😉 Greetings.
Thanks ... I guess :) I disagree with you Trevor, probably the ones at the end with the balloons and Mickey Mouse would have been better in colour :) Thanks for watching !
Hello Octavian, indeed you did a good job in Athens...so many nice images, it was hard to choose this time and I was tempted not to pick a favourite this time. Number 1 perfect multilayer and perfect in B&W and then with 2, 10, 13, 15, 18, 19, 24, 25 here are my favourites. I recently changed camera and I was in between choosing a colour or B&W sensor but eventually choose colours., don't know you but sometimes I see in B&W and sometimes I see in colours and didn't want to loose the sort of freedom digital photography. Ciao! Mauro
Great video. I sold my Q2 because I got fed up with the focusing system. What settings do you use? It looks like you have programmed the framing button for back focus lock (I did that) and use that. But I am tired of the soft and out-of-focus portraits I got unless I manually focused. If you are successful in convincing me I may get a Q2 Monochrome.
Hi there and thanks. I have been using the Q2 with the autofocus system for almost 4 years now and it works very good for me. I didn’t customise the back button at all :). I shoot in Aperture priority 99% , autofocus, field. Thanks for watching:)

Just want to say I really love your Monochrom photos. But I'm an 100% b+w shooter myself, so I'm biased :) Planning to go to Athens later this year, your video makes me looking forward to that even more.
Thanks a lot Robert :) I am glad you enjoyed the shots and I hope you will enjoy Athens as much as I did. There are some areas that are more bubbly and vibrant and some area that are not very good but overall it's a wonderful city :)
Hi Octavian! I loved the guy with the hat and cigarette, timed it perfectly. I think the b&w looks amazing. Are the files easy to edit or not even required? I ended up getting the M10p which I love shooting but really wish I’d got the M10m. I end up converting 90% of my files.
Hi Devlin ! That's one of my favourite shots as well. They are easy to edit and offer a very good margin of editing (if that makes sense). Well, if you convert 90% of your files to BW then there is only one path... a Monochrome camera :D
Definitely color photography matches with your character and style more than b&w, this is my honest opinion. And you are really good in using colors in street photography.@@OctavianCarare

I love you work and enjoy all your videos. But I find the monochrome with the Leica flat and with low contrast. They are great images but I feel something is missing with this camera.
Hi Paul ! The images are indeed flat but it gives you a very good margin on editing, probably that's why I love it so much. Or you can choose to shoot JPEG in high contrast and pictures will look less flat :D Cheers !
I think both b&w and color pictures are amazing in their own way. Maybe you shoot better pictures. Anyway do both because there are people who likes color too. By the way, which software do you use to edit your video? And also the music that you use for your videos.
Maybe shooting only BW makes you concentrate on less things than you would normally focus on when shooting colour. Maybe it's more about composing the pictures then thinking about colours. I use NIk 6 Silver effex and Lightroom. Music comes from Audiio and Motion Array. Cheers ! :)
I see life in colors. B&W for me is a restriction. Not even cavemen used just one color (black) when they discovered reds, browns... When the photo is bad, I see people tends to convert in B&W to make it more interesting. But in your case, doing wonderful and colorful street photography... I dont see it :(

Hey Octavian, great video as always. Athens is a fun city. I really like your color work as well as the black and white. I thought about going monochrome as well but then I learned about using color channels to tone monochrome photos from Peter Coulson, which you can never do on a pure monochrome sensor.
