everyone on the show said brooke was one of the most happiest ppl on the show but the producers keeps editing her too look like she’s always miserable
Well she went for being Abby's favorite and dancing with her age to having to dance with 6 year olds and her little sister. She was miserable.
@andreawhite1496 I get ur point here and agree but Brooke actually danced with people older than her. It’s been confirmed she was dancing with the senior division pre-show, typically older than her in age.

It is crazy how the producers already started to create different personas for everyone on the show this early on in season one. For example, coming over to Kelly’s house to film a scene about what Brooke doesn’t like about dance to portray her as “the moody teenager.” Purposefully planning to film at Kelly’s house while the girls were supposed to be at rehearsal so that Abby blames Kelly and assumes that her daughters aren’t taking their dancing seriously, etc.
It always happens. That is how they cast. If you watch their audition for Mattie B's music video you can hear the jurors vocalizing preconceived notions about them. Eg. Labelling Jojo the "sassy" one at the audition. They could probably tell Brooke didnt care to be dancing with younger girls and took advantage of that for a narrative.
The show is semi-scripted and extremely edited. Everyone played a character dependent upon what the producers’ visions were for the show.
Definitely always happen. And she was the moody girl. 2 things can be true at once. She was talented for sure but she never seemed to want it like the Chloe and Maddie. Some girls seemed to be having fun as kids and some seemed to have an early passion for the art.
I’m just glad they are okay today. That show became very difficult to watch and not want to call social services!!! I couldn’t believe it was allowed to be done to little kids. And the moms were just mental.
The fact that Abby said Brooke was on drxgs because she didn’t love dance as much as she used to is just beyond me. Like she couldn’t have grown out of it or hated the toxic environment she was in. But apparently for Abby that’s evidence that she’s on drxgs. Wow… just wow
And then she wonders why her students don’t speak to her anymore

I wonder if it was because she was taking painkillers for back pain
Which is ironic because Brooke was once her “Maddie”. Her favorite. Her protégé. Then when Maddie came up Brooke was no longer Abby’s favorite. Brooke didn’t have the drive anymore as she already HAD gotten the Maddie treatment and outgrew Abby’s lovebombing tactics.
I had no idea Nia was sick at one point and couldn't walk! what an absolute trooper to build herself back up to the amazing dancer she is!
Nia was sadly in a wheelchair and Brooke was run over 😅

They discussed this many times. I fact Abby always threw this in Holly's face multiple times when she was mad at her.
It covers it quite a lot throughout the series.
Yeah she had a form of AMPS (amplified musculoskeletal pain syndrome)- it can happen after an injury where pain signals get messed up and tell the brain there’s pain after the injury has already healed. It can be really debilitating and takes really intensive physical and occupational therapy to recover.
I feel so bad for Brooke. Imagine loving to dance in a group of your friends, only to be taken away from them and be placed on a team of "kids", where your younger sibling is! I am eldest too, and If that happened to me, I would not only lose passion to dance, but also start resenting going to the studio, and would definitely resent my younger sibling as well. I wouldnt want to be forced to "hang out" with my sibling this much (home and studio), while also losing time with my friends AND my passion for the one thing I loved dearly. Poor girl.
I thought nothing Abby says would ever surprise me but the comment about Brooke on drugs was a jaw dropper for me. It reminds me of the time when she said that maybe Chloe was sneaking off to meet boys. She's lucky she didn't get slapped before season 4.
I’ve always been curious about the scene with Brooke in her bedroom, it’s nice to finally know HOW exactly they staged it. I was always confused as to why we were supposed to believe that a random camera was just chilling in Brooke’s room ready to film her complaining 😂

It's horrifying to hear how abby thought that brooke was on drugs...like seriously ?! Especially in front of Kelly...its so horrible how she treated the girls ...it reminded me of that moment when abby told holly that nia could get married in some countries when she was litteraly 12 !!
The producers tried to portray Brooke as that "moody" teenaged girl. There's loads of clips of her smiling that they deleted/didn't show.
I think Maddie thought taking accountability for the group dance would mean Abby would take it easier on the other kids, but nope. It’s just sad she thought she had to.

I was surprised that two parts were taken out. Maddie and Brooke were portrayed the worst out of the OGs, Maddie as the “brat” and Brooke as the “moody teen.” I thought they’d put in the part where Brooke says nobody there is her friend, since that would add to her character, even though she was right about barely knowing any of them.
And Maddie critiquing Nia and Nia feeling hurt. They’d do that to make Maddie seem like a brat, even though she was looking out for Nia and felt responsible for the group.

For Maddie to be that young and feel it is her fault for the group losing, is crazy!!! It’s obvious that Abby and Melissa put way to much pressure on a little girl! I also feel the only reason Maddie felt like a perfectionist because her mom and I imagine Abby kept telling her that!
Yes. Maddie was probably never a perfectionist before until Melissa and Abby pushed that onto her. Kids are sponges they repeat and become what they see and what their parents push onto them.
People act like Maddie was just born a perfectionist leader, no. Melissa and Abby pushed that perfectionist leader role onto her and she just had to do it because she was a child and didn’t really understand how she was being exploited and manipulated just like all the other girls in their respective roles.

they brainwashed her and manipulated her to be this golden child which is awful.
It’s very sweet how they would clap for each other. So sad the environment became so hostile so quickly

Brooke didn’t want to be there, she was about ready to quit dancing before the show even started.
I dont remember Brooke talking about homework, she said in that scene that she wanted to go to the mall with her friends, that everyone was going and she was stuck at dance.
That’s probably what producers wanted

I don’t think Abby was responsible for the inaccurate portrayals of the dancers, it was most likely the producers. They seemed to love manipulating situations and editing things to make it look a certain way.
it’s crazy how the girls always felt so much pressure during group routines because abby set a stigma that if they’re the lead it’s their fault if it doesn’t win and that went on through out the whole show. Everyone that came on the show or new cast members knew that and felt it because it was put in their heads so much.
Is this the episode where you could actually hear the producers feeding lines to Vivi in that scene with her and Cathy in her bedroom? It actually made the final cut.
I remember in one of the brookes RUclips videos, she said that she was actually always in a good mood, but in the brief moments when she did not smile, that’s when the editors were filming her, and they edited her to look really miserable all the time
I can say as a dancer in all fairness thst hip pain is normal, I had a massive growth spurt around the age of 10 and even the doctor told me that that is what the pain is, so I had to sit there for ages just rotating my hip - it really does hurt though so I can’t blame Brooke one bit!
Holly is way too together to call Nia out over “attitude” because she fell. It sounds more like she’s having an attitude issue over her pain in conversation, like kids do when told something and get sarcastic.
Well Holly is a mom… Moms call their children out when they have attitude or act out which all children do… you don’t have to be “too together” to do normal human things that moms do lmao. It’s not that deep. Y’all act like Holly is some perfect god or something. Holly has her moments like everyone else. Let her be human. Y’all don’t have to defend every seemingly “negative” (this isn’t that negative, it just came off as negative) thing that Holly does.

I love hearing all the tea with this show also this unrelated from the video but i really miss seasons 1 and 2 of dance moms. I remember getting into the show while scrolling through the channels one day while eating lunch after hearing the girls on my dance team talk about it and going "is the show they were talking about?" and i was hooked ever since. Makes me miss the OG team before Jill & Kendall had a secure spot on the team
This is 100% why I hated the way Abbey “criticized” the children.A good 70% of the “critiques” are extremely offensive and/or demeaning to them

Omgoodenss love did you see Abby's video on Maddie's cosmopolitan cover and interview. She still 6 yrs later has to ruin or try and monopolize off her name and their history. It was cringy. I couldn't believe how delusional Abby still is.

Abby disagreed when Maddie said it was her fault bc of the timing. So she put pressure on herself.... even if no one would have pressured her she still would have pressured herself bc thats the type of kid she is/was.
She was only like that because of Abby and Melissa. That wouldn’t have been the type of kid she was if it wasn’t for them. She wasn’t born that way.

The whole drugs thing reminds me of what everyone thought of me when I dropped out of band randomly in high school. I was going through a lot. My mom passed away a few months before I went to my first band camp. I loved the band. I loved playing music. Used to win awards for it. I was just super depressed and my home life was horrible. I didn't even try smoking cigarettes until after high school. NeveI anything I didn't get from the doctor as far as drugs go.

I'm a former dancer and I was born with a foot condition and also had a bad knee from a accident, and dancing when you have these things to deal with sucks and it's painful most of the time

Brooke was such an amazing dancer!! She was too mature to be performing in dances like Sassy Dolls. Also, with her being the oldest and having the best training so far, she was the natural leader. Abby forced it on one of the youngest that wasn’t ready for it.

the way that Reagan was spoken to was so wrong but every one of dawns arguments about how the "children look like children" was ridiculous because a tshirt and especially socks is very dangerous during an acro class and can lead to serious injury, the reason you cant wear socks is because you can very easily slip and fall and the tshirt means your clothes arent tight so could fall infront of your face during a skill/balance or means the dance teacher cannot see your body to give you correction and again avoid injury

There’s so much evidence of Abby being an awful person, she’s even admitted to being awful. If you’re still confused or think she’s nice and you believe the “producer made her do it” crap something is wrong with you.
I think at first abby was decent teacher, but the show enable the worst of her. When you enable somebody, then that thing will consume them as unrecognizable.

That was Make You Mine. And that scene itself seemed heavily manipulated. Maddie wasn’t the type of person to pin blame on someone ese, she was hard on herself and took her own mistakes to heart.
@@oceanblue9122 So Melissa was lying when she said what she about Maddie. Melissa is a liar so it wouldn’t surprise me, but I also wouldn’t put it past Maddie to act like that considering how she treated Nia in a later season.
@@corimoon3360 Lines are often fed to the moms as well and they’re told what to do to stir up drama. Christi was told to stir up drama with Leslie and do something drastic to get vacation time for her and Chloe. We all know by now that many of Maddie’s interviews and confessionals were scripted as well.
And when was Maddie ever mean to Nia? She always supported her and they’re still close today. Nia even confirmed that Maddie was one of the girls she was closest with. Maddie wasn’t the type of person to blame somebody else for “ruining a dance.” She could help them out before the dance to get them to do well, but after the dance, she would just be harsh on herself.
Love these but one thing, Can you stop making assumptions about certain situations? Like with the comment about Kelly telling Paige she’d poke her eye if she didn’t dance or Holly telling Nia to not cop an attitude… I understand you want to assume it wasn’t as bad as it sounds but also we don’t know the full story so it’s probably safe to not assume at all and to just present what is provided.
It's weird for maddie to claim she had to be the adult for kenzie. Not saying she didnt have to grow up fast and be more mature than her age but it isnt like kenzie wasnt fed clothed etc. When people say they parented their younger sibling they actually have to provide, not just be bossy and then claim to be a parental figure.
Maddie literally was the one feeding and clothing Mackenzie though… like she’d get her up for school, make sure she was bathed and had her clothes on and had breakfast. So it’s funny you said that because it’s completely wrong.

What's gonna happen to this show now that Back at the Barre exists? I'd rather listen to people who were actually there, rather than a fan who thinks they know everything from production notes. You're exploiting the girls trauma. You don't seem to care about them. You only care about pushing your own narrative and gaining clout within the fandom.

Just like Abby’s videos have some layer of bias in them, Back to the Barre does as well. Kelly and Christi won’t be able to cover Maddie, Kenzie, Nia, Kendall, or anyone else’s experience. These notes give us an insight on everybody’s experience and gives justice to all.
