    Butterfly Pull-ups Progression and Technique! In this video I go over three simple progressions that I have used to help athletes develop their butterfly pull-up. Although it looks weird, the butterfly will allow you to complete more reps in a shorter amount of time compared to the traditional kipping or strict pull-up. Watch to find out how the butterfly technique differs from that of kipping; and how you can progress toward this tricky movement in 3 simple steps.
    Step 1: Arms only
    Step 2: Legs only
    Step 3: Strict fall-through
    MAKE SURE you have the requisite strength (several strict pull-ups) before trying to develop this movement! For free coaching directly from me- wodprep.com/pull-ups/

    All these comments dissing crossfit. It's all laughing to you actually try Crossfit. I've done calisthenics for years, but now transition to Crossfit full time. Want to compete next year, in the beginners phase at the moment but improving each day. Crossfit is my passion, and it's the hardest way to train, its conditioning your body to the fullest. Also movements like this help with reps which is part of the sport, and it's not bad for your rotator cuffs if you are doing it right, like in the video. In my opinion a muscle up with bad form could be worse. Love the video, and is going to help me progress

    why hate? this is a part of body coordination training.
    even in calisthenics, people train kip up instead of muscle up to save energy for the next move, like 360 or other tricks.
    oh btw, have anyone tried one arm butterfly pull up?

    • @robr7200
      @robr7200 5 лет назад

      Tommy could you explain in more detail how this is part of body coordination training. Is this a progression to another move? What is it exactly you are suppose to be getting out of it? I have never done crossfit so I am generally curious for the reasoning. I have however worked out for decades and served in the USMC so I do know how to do pull ups and pull up progressions if you can't do pull ups etc. From someone like me who is a crossfit outsider but has other experiences 1. this butterfly pull up looks retarded. 2. This will have no benefit for someone trying to get their first dead hang pull up. Which maybe isn't why you guys do them. I am just looking for someone to educate me on their purpose.

    • @mota686
      @mota686 5 лет назад

      @@robr7200 try to think that the pull up is a completly different exercise from the butterfly pull up
      The first one is for strenght/muscle gains, with an easy technic, if someone on the street asks you to do a pull up, you do this one
      The butterfly pull up requires a more complex technic, and is only usefull for crossfit, and it is a good idea to only train this exercise after feeling confortable with the strict pull up.
      The use of these two movements depend only on your goals

      Crossfit efficient means inefficient in getting training benefit from the exercise. You dont get stronger with kipping or butterflies.
