I've been listening to Slipknot since my Freshman year of high school back in '06-'07, I waited in line at Best Buy to purchase AHIG on the day it was released back in '08. That was the first Slipknot album I ever bought, it's still my second favorite Slipknot album to this day and I will defend AHIG till I die. I was going through a very rough time back then and Slipknot gave me strength to fight my autoimmune illness called Systemic Scleroderma, I was very sick at the time and I was undergoing chemotherapy in the hospital once a month for a year (I was 17 at the time). Metal gives me strength, it gives me life, and it gives me peace. #MetalWillLiveForever #MUYA
I feel your attachment to AHIG. I was in the Army doing pre-deployment training in Ft Dix for Iraq (OIF 08-09) when the album came out. I went to the PX one evening after training and bought the deluxe edition. It was my soundtrack for the entirety of my tour in the sandbox. I'll always love AHIG.

Iowa made when they were all at their rock bottom and they captured it with that album. I would never wish that on them again, for them to have to hit rock bottom to create another album like Iowa.

Honestly I feel like overall, the album was pretty good, but the second half of it was PHENOMENAL! The shift to a darker, heavier tone with more atmosphere; I want more of THAT Slipknot!
I can say that it is perhaps the softest Slipknot album that has ever been released. However, the band members still keep the change alive and renew themselves. Musically satisfying if you don't expect a really hard Slipknot album... they take you to different lands and lay your dreams at your feet.

I used to not like this album for some reason, but when I finally gave it a chance I've started to love it more and more as the days passed. I was born in Waterloo Iowa the same place as Corey. They’ve been on my radar since the beginning and they’ve never let their fans down with quality music. They are the trailblazers of this music and continue to push and bend the genre in a tasteful way.
Saw them live in chula vista earlier this year and if anyone has been thinking about seeing them really JUST DO IT. It was the best concert I’ve been to. It was so lively and overall such an amazing performance. I really hope to see them again one day
