Lanie is relaxing in her own personal space and showing how easy it is for her to do what she loves most! Had you not brought up her attire, no one would consider it. When I heard Lanie's version the first time I thought Fleetwood Mac recorded the version a few years earlier, a take out but released a newer version in 1977. My daughter send me Lanie's version without a hint because she knows I'm a big Fleetwood Mac fan and I said WOOW, what a fresh, young and fantastic version of Dreams. I asked my daughter is it digitally remastered version of a younger Stevie Nicks version. My daughter laughed, nice to get you. It's Lanie Gardner singing it in 2019, when she was 20 years old. I find her on TikTok. And I must say I was really so surprised, got a big smile on my face and my daughter and Lanie made my day. Since than I heard Lanie's Dreams more than 30 times and I don't get it out of my head. All'n'all this is only 48 hours ago and I've to say Mick Fleetwood is right to recommend her for a record contract. I'm waiting now for vinyl releases and I hope to see this jewel live soon!
Yup its real.. she did it one take in her dorm room in college. its all been confirmed the only thing she used is a compressor. she's just that good. but to be honest its not that surprising. we've been flooded with over hyped minor talent artists for decades. people getting high record sales but cant hold a candle to the real gifted talent thats out their, talent that studios ironically stay far away from, because its harder to find talent on her level. so instead studios go for looks, and minor talent because its the dumbing down of the audience to make large sales. same thing done in films. you can sell anything to an audience that doesn't know any better.

The difference, of course, is that Stevie is an original and a rock icon. She wrote the song and made it a hit back when this style of music was selling. She also recorded it before all the electronic “correcting” techniques that exist today. And then, finally, you’re comparing a live/concert performance to a studio recording.

Thanks for doing this because your vid made be realize two things about why I like Lanie's version so much better. First, it is the quality, way better than the original. And secondly, the original having background singers really sucks, IMO. BTW, Lanie had been an aspiring singer in a family of musicians for years at this point, with many shows under her belt. So yeah, she had some nice equipment to record this... and was 21, I think, at this point. BTW, she got signed 10 days after she posted this TicToc of her doing this vid/song. Plus, you missed the whole Cranberry Juice part as being a nod to a viral TicToc of a guy riding his skateboard drinking it with Dreams playing.
Stevie seemed so controlled and was just doing a job, but Lanie was relaxed and having fun. That showed in the difference of the tonal quality of their singing. Lanie's version was way better.

Yes, she probably did this on her bed in her bedroom at home. The mouth movements are too perfect a match to the voice to be a lip-synch! I’m sure it was captured with the quality mic and spit screen pictured, enhanced with some reverb, and mixed with the music track in a video editor. Did she do it all - story is she did, as she tells it in another video interview. Young people are very sophisticated today, and while at home, less likely to dress in clothing that is restrictive. She is definitely not 7 or 8 !?!?! If she were, I could understand your discomfort. There are more accepting attitudes among teen girls today regarding skin exposure around their midsection - it’s seen as a fashionable trend, and not seduction. Have you been to the public beaches recently? Bare stomachs aren’t the half of it. BTW, you can tell that she has had voice lessons or considers her voice a professional instrument by the fact that she “primed” her throat by drinking cranberry juice, known by singers to help clear the phlegm from the throat. Her level of vocal control is great - as you point out, she added that little bit of “rasp” in just the right places, and still kept the smooth clear notes that hint of youth. I really liked her rendition better than the original - Stevie’s voice has the effects of a bit too much alcohol and cigarette smoke, and frankly a bit too much vibrato on sustained notes. I sincerely hope Lanie stays away from that stuff, because we know today the toll that stuff takes on your voice and health! Peace, friends!
Fleetwood Mac to me is just such an Iconic sound. Stevie is so unique. I think you're right the balance seemed off. I really did enjoy both versions as I thought Lanie was great!! Her voice shocked me as well when i first heard it but have become a fan of hers. Rhiannon is very good also.

That is indeed Lainie Gardner, sitting on her bed using that microphone. At first I was blown away and thought she was lip syncing but it is her singing live in the moment. I have been following her every since and she is quite the performer and she also plays guitar.

I wouldn't say Lanie sings Dreams better than Stevie but she sounds like a younger Stevie Nicks. When I heard Lanie's version the first time I thought Fleetwood Mac recorded the version a few years earlier, a take out but released a newer version in 1977. My daughter send me Lanie's version without a hint because she knows I'm a big Fleetwood Mac fan and I said WOOW, what a fresh, young and fantastic version of Dreams. I asked my daughter is it digitally remastered version of a younger Stevie Nicks version. My daughter laughed, nice to get you. It's Lanie Gardner singing it in 2019, when she was 20 years old. I find her on TikTok. And I must say I was really so surprised, got a big smile on my face and my daughter and Lanie made my day. Since than I heard Lanie's Dreams more than 30 times and I don't get it out of my head. All'n'all this is only 48 hours ago and I've to say Mick Fleetwood is right to recommend her for a record contract.

Yup its real.. she did it one take in her dorm room in college. its all been confirmed the only thing she used is a compressor. she's just that good. but to be honest its not that surprising. we've been flooded with over hyped minor talent artists for decades. people getting high record sales but cant hold a candle to the real gifted talent thats out their, talent that studios ironically stay far away from, because its harder to find talent on her level. so instead studios go for looks, and minor talent because its the dumbing down of the audience to make large sales. same thing done in films. you can sell anything to an audience that doesn't know any better.

Thanks for doing this because your vid made be realize two things about why I like Lanie's version so much better. First, it is the quality, way better than the original. And secondly, the original having background singers really sucks, IMO.
BTW, Lanie had been an aspiring singer in a family of musicians for years at this point, with many shows under her belt. So yeah, she had some nice equipment to record this... and was 21, I think, at this point. BTW, she got signed 10 days after she posted this TicToc of her doing this vid/song.
Plus, you missed the whole Cranberry Juice part as being a nod to a viral TicToc of a guy riding his skateboard drinking it with Dreams playing.
Stevie seemed so controlled and was just doing a job, but Lanie was relaxed and having fun. That showed in the difference of the tonal quality of their singing. Lanie's version was way better.

Lanie Gardner was 17 or 18 when she sang dreams. She is in her early 20s now and a college student. She has a natural Tennessee accent and here is an original song that she wrote and performs. I just love her Tennessee accent and you could not hear her accent when she sang dreams but she's a southern girl.

Yes, she probably did this on her bed in her bedroom at home. The mouth movements are too perfect a match to the voice to be a lip-synch! I’m sure it was captured with the quality mic and spit screen pictured, enhanced with some reverb, and mixed with the music track in a video editor. Did she do it all - story is she did, as she tells it in another video interview.
Young people are very sophisticated today, and while at home, less likely to dress in clothing that is restrictive. She is definitely not 7 or 8 !?!?! If she were, I could understand your discomfort. There are more accepting attitudes among teen girls today regarding skin exposure around their midsection - it’s seen as a fashionable trend, and not seduction. Have you been to the public beaches recently? Bare stomachs aren’t the half of it.
BTW, you can tell that she has had voice lessons or considers her voice a professional instrument by the fact that she “primed” her throat by drinking cranberry juice, known by singers to help clear the phlegm from the throat. Her level of vocal control is great - as you point out, she added that little bit of “rasp” in just the right places, and still kept the smooth clear notes that hint of youth. I really liked her rendition better than the original - Stevie’s voice has the effects of a bit too much alcohol and cigarette smoke, and frankly a bit too much vibrato on sustained notes. I sincerely hope Lanie stays away from that stuff, because we know today the toll that stuff takes on your voice and health!

Fleetwood Mac to me is just such an Iconic sound. Stevie is so unique. I think you're right the balance seemed off. I really did enjoy both versions as I thought Lanie was great!! Her voice shocked me as well when i first heard it but have become a fan of hers. Rhiannon is very good also.
