I just left regional to come local and tbh it’s not bad I’m home everyday it is early ours expect to be up at 2am. To me it’s worth it but you’ll be put in tighter situations and running a lot earlier for 5 days depending on what company you choose but on the bright side 9 times outta 10 you’ll be hourly. Local will really gain you true experience imo
I worked a 2nd job for about 3 years. Sunday mornings meat department at a Kroger owned grocery store. It was pretty casual and got the weekend shift premium. An easy $150+ a week.
I've driven otr for 8 years and in the oilfield for 2. If you're willing to max out your endorsements and get pretty good with a forklift you can make great money and be home everyday. Granted you are going to put in 12 hour plus days. You also have to be willing to run multiple types of trailers. With that said I plan on transitioning into flying mostly for a better work life balance and I'm bored with driving.
If I were you I would start some kind of side hustle that you could do on the weekend. That allows you to charge $80 to $100 an hr... The only way to truly get ahead is to be able to charge and make well beyond what you make it an hourly job
Local around dfw is half otr. I'm after tax w2 7k in the bank a month and my friend is literally 4k a month Local working harder than I am. But he goes home
Local work is harder, you work more and off just long enough for 10 hour break then right back at it. Been there did it. SAP drivers definitely need to be let go.
😊 when I retire I'm going to just lay around in bed and sit around in the chair I'm not even going to do the damn thing except for mowing and maybe I'll just die in the bed
Fkn A! Ive said for years to people that dont know what they are going to do after retire... Me, I am going to do NOTHING. Been workin 50 years truck mech and truck driving. I have firewood to split and bird feeders to keep full, and an rv to play with. That is enough.
I thought I was just being conspiratorial but I knew something wrong is going on until two weeks ago a had a clean drug free driving record of ten years applied for a job and only to have my drug test documented as failed when I don't do drugs now I'm prohibited and labeled as a drug user though I wasn't given a chance to take another drug test immediately after the failure they're just like you said thinning the heard do you have any help that you could give me?
Why Would he go back on the road? And make half as much as he's making now. No he does not miss Western express I already looked into it. So take your Polish azz and go bet on baseball or something
Dude there’s times you can’t be by your family when it comes to making a living & good money. When I was a Union Ironworker I worked all over the U.S.by choice to make FAT money 💴 & to double my pension credits.Pretty soon you won’t be able to drive a tractor trailer since you r been driving that end dump. You being a former Marine you shouldn’t be worrying about being close to your family because your green as a driver & you need to be where the driving jobs are hiring & paying good since you can’t even afford an apartment where you choose to stay. The Dakotas,West Texas,Wyoming etc are paying GOOD.The Dakotas & west Texas have man camps you don’t pay for a roof over your head & you don’t have to pay for food & you bank your cash.Dont let that end dump job screw you in the long run driving a tractor trailer.remember you only have about 6 months experience as a Northeast Regional driver & that in itself might have screwed you since you didn’t do a year with western.Good luck & drive safe.
The smartest thing you ever did is leave western. They don't play fair. They wanted me to sign a contract that I would stay with them for a year. Imagine that
Lmao. People who go to college rarely get a job for the field they studied for. If anyone wants to actually make money go to trade school. Welding, mechanics, hvac. Truckers are making more than most desk slaves too.

Great video, Glenn. I hope you find an apartment at a reasonable price. The best of luck to you and have a wonderful week.
Jersey is a solid Choice next to California for worst state in the Union
😊 everybody wants to take care of their equipment because their equipment is making them money
Dependable beats years of driving every time in the local market. Post office is where you wanna be if you want structure

Get a spotter job at a warehouse. You would love that and good money.
Finally, a coherent conversation with decent editing. I just might re-sub.

Yeah being local wouldn’t work for me in a major city….. wouldn’t mind running local between Joplin to Pittsburg Kansas near my house 👍
Oil field driving. Work a month and take a couple of weeks off. You can schedule your work like that.
Oil field hauling what? Tank?
@@Deevine_ flatbed and stepdeck. Moving oil rigs and cranes.
Put it in 3rd and let it idle across the rough spots.
I don't even want to get out there in traffic

There’s way worse situations than a hometown job with a childhood friend 🫡👍

😊 I got four more years till I get to 62 and I'm going to retire I'm just going to give it up
Is the 100 grand a year still out there for otr? I’m thinking of becoming a truck driver?
Just do Uber and Lyft. If you put in the same hours as trucking you’ll do a lot better even using own car. Why live in a truck for 1k a week. Crazy.
You at earl in Jackson nj.

Why Would he go back on the road?
And make half as much as he's making now.
No he does not miss Western express I already looked into it.

Where did all the PPP money go?
I'm going to retire at a trucking
Huh?

There's a lot of drivers who can't read English signs. Why not get rid of them.
❤😊 I got four more years and I'm going to retire
Bro just get into local fuel hauling and you can make six figures
You need a 2 income household
The Marxist theory comes into play.....
You should move. And tell your family stop voting Democrat
Go to college and get a desk job. No mud flaps needed
