Did you have to modify the factory torsion bar crossmember?

I don’t think I had to modify the torsion bar crossmember, just the trans crossmember. I show everything to the video series.

Thank you for the good info. I'm building a 70 Cuda 727 car and I'm wanting to use the 4 speed 518 built to handle some power. On a non electronic 46RH / 518 can you control 4th gear without using the gear selector or is it completely hydraulic? I'm wanting to keep the 1-2-D-N-R-P pattern on my factory gear shifter and was hoping to activate overdrive on a switch. I'm sure that's possible with the electronic versions, but then I'm running a computer, right?

The gear selector will stay the same as your original (1-2-D-N-R-P), the overdrive is controlled from a switch not from the selector on the 46RH. On part five and six of this series i explain how to control the OD and Lockup by pressure switches so everything will be automatic and you wont have to worry about flicking a switch to operate the OD.
