Rear Disc Brake Change Jeep Grand Cherokee
0:43 coupe? No window post makes it a 'coupe' I have a 74 Plymouth Satellite, and the rear windows do roll down. that is a coupe also
I believe that would be a hardtop ( rear windows roll down)
Looking great Kent, I always wonder what the he** these trucks went through to get all those dimples and peaks….If they could only talk!
Thanks Alan..
That Mopar is a bloody beast. Bet its fast cause its cool
Question : what is the gauge of the sheet metal on these old cars ? would it be 1/16 ??
@@Pancho-villa666 I haven’t measured it, but most likely 18 gauge which is just under 1/16”. I did measure the box floor at .100”.
@@Nelsons-Garage thank you, I remember my dad telling me how hard it was to bodywork these old cars, no Honda for sure !
Ive found these fenders to be quite different from fender to fender and side ti side.
I think your right, my fenders are the same overall length but the inner fender was different.
Is the rebuilt compressor still working? Seen some nad reviews of there parts
Still working, no issues so far…
You've been gone a while that rear fender came out nice ....
Yeah, I’ve been running my ‘65 Plymouth, going to shows and cruise ins . Trying to get back on the truck.
What are you using for the tubing you are replacing? Thanks
The tubing is stainless steel, 1/4”od with a .030” wall. I would have got that from Grainger or McMaster Carr
The reflectors have a cork gasket that sits that groove that the headlight lens sits in. the headlight reflector and lens push in against the springs tilted at an angle ( bottom in) to get them in and then once in push against the headlight shell opening which is slightly smaller diameter than the headlight lens itself. Then there is a screw at the bottom of the headlight shell that is turned in to push against the bottom of the reflector to hold it so it can't tilt back at the bottom and pop out. That is important since if you hit a bad bump in a road it can pop out. I had that happen on my 35 Dodge pickup so I know. The reflectors are silver plated . if yours are bad you can get a silver plating kit from Caswell online and re plate them yourself. Silver reflects better than chrome . You can usually still find those parts at Swap meets, even the bulbs but they are getting harder to find. Make sure all your grounds are clean and good when you put everything together.
Lots of great information, thanks. I will video that info when I get to that point.
I'm glad you have this video, it really helped me out thank you
Can you disable the suspension system so you don't use it?
Not that I know of. You can change to the standard strut/coil suspension.
After replacing air suspension compressor, about 30 mins later I got this code C15A0-13 “ Air suspension reverse valve 2 control circuit open”. Please help. Everything is connected, fuses are ok. The code instantly comes on when erased.
That is open or high resistance connection. Check the connections, both compressor and module ( if you took the connector apart). Check for bent or pushed out pins. Also check for damaged wire, this would be pin 4 at the compressor and pin 46 at the control module, you can check resistance between those connections and should be less than 5 ohms, that will verify a good wire. Same with wires pin 5 and pin 45. Then connect the compressor and Check the ohms at the controller plug between pin 46 and 45, that should be less than 10 ohms if it’s above the compressor is bad, if it’s below the controller may be bad. That is a lot, I’m thinking it’s just a connection.
OH I really like your taillight brackets , Mine where missing on my 37 P/U and so was the bumpers .So I made my own also . and didn't know what they looked like . Good job!!
Where can I get some other kind of clips to hold molding on around grille?
Not sure what clips would work other than originals, that is why i used screws. not sure if that will be my final fastener, but if i can find something else I will show it in my future videos.
Yeah I know how you feel .. One step forward two steps back ..sometimes .. good job though
I flinched so bad when that lens popped out of the housing. I thought it was going to slip out and flop right off the table!
Thanks for this great video about repairing air suspensions on JGC. I have the same problem with my JGC 2014 Summit 5,7L. Can you give me the part number of the connector that fits on the nitrogen tank to recharge it, because mine (R134) does not fit. Can you also give us the Amazon reference of the regulator (yellow, red, blue) that you use? Thanks a thousand times. Alan
The nitrogen regulator is by Yeswelder, WX-YQD-CGA580 from Amazon. the gauge setup to charge the tank is from Harbor freight it is just a standard automotive AC charge gauge set. I think the larger line connects to the tank.
@@Nelsons-Garage Thank you very much. I have bought the same Yeswelder regulator on Amazon. I have just ordered a set on RMT website (valves block and compressor) and I returned a Luft Meister compressor and a valves block purchased on Amazon, because I'm not sure it will work well in winter... RMT is a better alternative, I think ! I will follow your excellent tuto, but first I will try with pressurized air and I will change for nitrogen if it works.
My '37 Dodge P/U story: In the mid '80s an old gentleman showed up at my Dayton, Ohio restoration shop with his '37 Dodge and a flattened drivers front fender. He explained that a speeding motorcyclist had run into him. Looking the truck over, which he told me he bought new, I amazed at how straight the rest of it was, I asked him how it came to be covered all over with paint spatters of all colors. With a "there's nothing I can do about the splatters now tone", he told me he was a painter, houses and such, then he added words that changed everything for me, he said he was the Wright Bros. painter as well !! If Orville and Wilbur needed anything painted...Ralph did it, from whole planes to wheels or engines! Now that I had shaken the hand that shook the Wright Bros. hands I closed the deal to fix his fender and he left the truck. I think I quoted him $250. The more time I spent with that truck the more I knew I couldn't fix only the fender... so I set about prepping it all for paint, original tu-tone burnt orange coach, wheels and bed with black fenders and running boards. Fast forward a couple weeks and I call Mr. Guston to come get his truck, it's ready. He and his wife appear and I walk them through the shop to the back room where I flung open the doors revealing his as new looking truck lit up like a car dealers showroom! Speechless, dumbfounded, through tears in his eyes, Ralph says, "I can't afford to pay for all this," to which I replied, "You owe me $250 and this truck ain't leavin' til I get it!" More tears and hugs all around. Proud to have called him my friend. You wouldn't believe how many customers showed up for years stating, "Ralph sent me!"
Great job, door bottoms rot due to the window felt missing or window open during storms. Door wedge, not striker. Where the bumper goes on the bottom, the area you say needs welding, the dagger shaped opening is covered with a piece of trim that will hold down the window lace. Be sure to retain the mounting holes. Best to bend the doors with them hung on the hinges, then weld it up. Call if you want to discuss.
I like the you take the time and plan it out step by step , nice work . With those old trucks they get beat up pretty bad because they were work horses in the day .
Master tech 4 miles from my house 👍💯🏁 thanks
So I have a 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland edition. I'm having problems with my suspension pump also. I'm getting that same message on my Dash to immediately service. It's exactly what your video shows the pump will work and you can clearly hear it but it will never go back down into park mode period. I really want to try to fix it myself but was concerned about what I was getting myself into the Jeep dealership quoted me 4,800 I mean really I'm still driving the car but I'm just super concerned about the damage I'm doing
You can change it yourself. Just take your time.
If the suspension is up, you’re ok, if your suspension is down then damaged can be happening. Either way it needs to be fixed, and you can do it.
I dos my me self on my 95 , and not need take up the engine, have a pretty good room to take out the oil pan
Very nice. Lot of attention to detail here.
Pretty nice-looking project. Everything seems to be there.
Did the 6.9 quarter include filling the oil filter with oil? Or did you install the filter dry?
That includes filling the oil filter, I only fill the filter maybe half way or it will pour out when to try to put it in.
Size 13. That saved me 4 trips to the toolbox.

That doesn't sound like a flathead inline 6 cylinde 😛
I had a 41 Dodge piece of junk but I wish I never got rid of it
👍👍👍👍👍👍🥰
Yep. I'll go with awesome!!
Thats in not a nova
Damn, just something about Mopars !!
ok im still boaerd
Rear needs to be higher than the front. Looks goofy af like that
It's a gasser. They are always higher in the front. That's how they transfered weight to get traction back in the day.
Hes going to need his spare tires on the trailer
Sweet "68"
I’d take the gt500 behind it has AC and and heated seats and does not require a tetanus shot every time you get close to it
And all you need to aquire them is money. No skill required. Typical mustang mentality, Look what I bought 🤪👍
Nice patina 😮
That trailer is never going to be able to keep up! 😂
Do it again !
Trade it in for a EV 😊
Not his first time lol
70 dart swinger?
Gasser nova 🤤🤤🤤
Mopar or no car😊
Nice
Rad Engine mount angle !
