UDPATE: They extended the server test for several more hours and I'll be streaming it on my Twitch channel in a little bit: www.twitch.tv/thexclusiveace
Hoping it's continuing before I get off work as I haven't been able to play at all unfortunately this weekend lol. Edit:saw its live till 4 so nevermind I'm not playing I guess lol
The problem of finding the right settings is exacerbated by how short these playtests are. I think XDefiant would have benefited greatly if the devs would have had more of an "Just leave the servers on" mentality, especially last year!
You really are the most articulate person I’ve ever heard. It’s like all the issues I had in the game I couldn’t put into words you just did. And beautifully I might add
@@will-zj5gq lol bro none of us can do anything about the bad hit reg. I've literally hit 4 headshots in a row on someone and only one actually registered. It happens all the time.
Linear 30/30 .80 ADS 5% deadonzes 110 Fov Felt really good using these settings. Died once or twice around the corner cause of the netcode but nothing too ridiculous. I really enjoyed my time with the game!
I have been subbed since you were at 150kish subs. I don't know how you are not at 1 mil yet. You are doing gods work brother. Keep up the great content!
My biggest problem with XDefiant was the health regeneration. That slowed down the game for me to much. I’d get into gun fights kill 2 people frequently enough if I got lucky I could get a third sometime and I would have to go hide somewhere and sit there before I could go engage other player or help attack/defend an objective. Doesn’t need to be instant because I understand it’s somewhat because of faction abilities but I still think they could improve it across the board.
This 100% either should just half the regen time, or remove the stim shot type ability and make regen same as cod. Maybe even slightly faster. I was tired of hiding behind walls for so long after each gunfight.
Fr hide for five minutes to heal after a fight get hit with a corner of a grenade as I start to heal for 1 hp delay healing then die cause of it worst match ever lmao
The disconnected feeling is a Ubisoft thing. I literally cannot play their fps games. It’s very strange and I can’t pinpoint what exactly it is. I play on PC and have had the same issue you are describing.
nah fr idk what they're doing but every game (except R6 for some reason) has insane input lag, especially on controller, their Far Cry 3 remaster is notorious for being broken on console yet they never fixed it 💀
This game used Hyperscape as a base (the engine and some of the animations) and Hyperscape felt the same way. It's mostly because of the poor animation quality (robotic, snappy, artificial) and things not syncing up properly. That's why I attribute it to.
They've been struggling with net code since last summer. If the hit reg and de-sync are off then the entire game will feel like a mess. 3 Arc had small-ish trouble in the past with net code and those games never felt as good as IW for gun play. Feels like they need substantially more time to finish baking this game.
The problem isn’t time. There is conflict between the devs and the upper management. They’ll never be allowed the budget required for good server tick rate.
I agree with you on the Treyarch thing, but most people will tear you apart. Black Ops 1 and 2 had some of the most HORRENDOUS netcode I've ever seen for triple A game, and people still say BO2 was the best feeling one. BO1 had issues with desynced character models and like 1 in every 5 bullets just vanishing, and BO2 had literally 130ms of engine delay, meaning that even playing on LAN was like playing on an IW game 2 bar connection.
FINALLY SOMEONE TALKING ABOUT 3 Arc's horrendous net code! Yeah their CoD games just feel terrible to play with being in gunfights and losing. Infinity Ward games always felt had better hit reg way more of the time.
I played about 5 games and uninstalled. The number of "shoot First, die first" deaths, 0 damage hitmarkers, and dying miles behind cover made it a very unremarkable experience.
100% agreed. I didn't get through my first match. This game gets worse every time I play it. I've given it too many chances but the odd delay that the game has and the AWFUL netcode completely destroys this game
My only real problem is it feels clunky and i couldnt figure out how to make aiming feel smooth and polished like cod, so i ended up just going back to cod
Thank you so much, now I know why the shooting felt so off, especially on the P90. 7:22 omg this was so noticeable, it happened with the sniper so I had to tune it with different attachments.
I played this yesterday and it just felt painful experience wise. Seeing the way people were either doing the games version of slide canceling, jiggle peaking, and B-Hopping in a PLAYTEST? Not to mention how inconsistent the TTK and hit reg felt the whole time i was playing made the whole experience infuriating when I was looking forward to this. I'm in my early 20s and i started getting the feeling again of "Feeling too old/out of place" for FPS games nowadays and being a college student not having the time to sit on a game for six hours straight everyday. It's like nobody just tries to have genuine fun like how things use to be, I'm sorry for the rant but its just how this game and gaming as a whole has changed so much
Yea its tough. I'm going on late 20s trying to keep up with the younger generation of sweats and while I do pretty good I definitely don't have the reaction time or energy to play that I used to.
the game NEEDS SBMM that’s why, people hate on SBMM but modern shooters NEED it i simply WONT play a game where i’m getting shit on my nerds who can play 8 hours a day match after match after match good luck getting me to buy battle passes or bundles, this game will die within months due to this sadly which sucks cause it has a LOT of potential
@@zoanth4 I can’t remember but they may have fixed it. I remember they had the perk that would allow you to fire while sprinting that helped also. But a lot of the guns at launch had the ADS / sprint out disparity
@@joeyscrewdriver336ww2 guns had really slow sprint out times until condry got fired (relocated) and they overhauled the entire multiplayer in early 2018
Hey so initially the aiming felt off to me, using the reverse s type, with acceleration multiplier of 1.3 with 50-50 sens made it feel really good. It’s like the quick flicking takes place much further on the stick compared to cod. Net code was the only downside for me, as other aspects felt good. Audio for instance was really good, hearing enemies approaching and activating your ability was really fun. The best thing was not worrying after a good game that it’s time to be humbled, or have team mates that would literally won’t do anything, team balancing felt great to me. I do hope they can fix the issues, coz ace is absolutely right a lot of people will not play with these issues.
To be honest netcoding will be really tested when the true game comes out. When hundreds of thousands games will hop on and servers will be in their limit.
Yeah, sometimes my character will just move even without me putting in any input. Nothing to do with dead zones, either, as I made sure they’re set right.
great video i feel the same way with every beta or play test i had a lot of fun with this game but if these sort of issues dont get fixed i wont stick for long
I have an issue where something weird happens with ADS'ing when shooting where my aiming just snaps off target about an inch (screen measurement). It might be view kick or flinch but it's so annoying. See your gunfight a 7:07 where it looks like the aiming over compensates and snaps off target.
The slowdown aim assist is definitely stronger than CoDs, possibly to compensate for the slightly lower rotational aim assist. That being said, I felt that aiming was a lot better with the slowdown value set to -5. Personally I could easily deal with the controller feel, especially in comparison to older CoD games, the 2 main issues for me are the netcode still being wonky, and also in particular to this test, the disbanding lobbies and amount of lobbies I would join in progress. Balancing is also a little all over the place atm, people complaining a lot about snipers but I think the answer is keep the 1 shot weapons the same, but improve the auto weapons, the ttk doesn't need to be this long for an arcade shooter.
Solid play test. Think people were expecting too much this early. Fun game, and i had no netcode issues in Texas. Maybe there are not enough data centers yet. Was pretty sweaty in my matches though. So im interested to see how the game is on launch. Thank you Ace for figuring out why the gunplay felt off ❤
@thedub007 this isn't Acitvision. Games take time to come out right. Especially something as complex as massive online arcade shooter netcode and hit reg
@@TheFrankIcon I see what your trying to say, but its been 3 years of play test and the game is borderline the exact same as it was in 2021, yes games take more then 3 years to make, but XDefient over the past 3 years has stagnated, its not progressing like it should
@TheFrankIcon Yeah no, after beta testing for 3 years with hardly ANY improvements, I'm done with the excuses, unless they fix the issues, XDefiant's dead on arrival.
7:09 Now that you mentioned it. This is SO annoying when it happens while sniping. I didn't even realize this is the reason it happens. This was a huge problem in the other betas as well when trying to quickscope and I just thought the game didn't let me shoot until I was fully ADS.
I did not participate in the server test because I learned this reality a long time ago. Nothing has ever "felt as good to play" as COD, ever! We complain and whine about aspects of COD but we should really be thankful we always have a game that feels great to play. I am pulling for XD. I really am. I luv specialists! I played BO4 even last year. But no game will ever draw me away unless it nails the moving/shooting recipe feel COD offers.
I played for 10 hours this weekend, and honestly...I never got bored. I still want more, despite all the issues. It feels way more fun than cod, there is no fatigue due to organic and fast matchmaking, which I really didn't expect to feel ever again. If they released XDefiant tomorrow, in it's current state, I would play it, happily, where they could push out fixes as the weeks progressed. That being said, I didn't "feel" any of these issues as strongly as many others did.
@@dustblowingman Oh stop gatekeeping. Its so cringe. It feels way better than the slow, campy and artificially inflated mess that is cod. Just got back onto mw3 and it feels heavy and slow in comparison
great video @thexclusiveace i feel the exact same way. I’m really pulling for this game and their Devs. It seems like their heart is in the right place, but as you point out the ADS clunkiness and the inconsistent net code are holding it back. And i still am really enjoying the test this weekend. close, but not ready.
8:40 The crosshair is not moving at all on screen? The camera is what's moving. Simply place your mouse over the crosshair on the video and you'll see it won't move.
This is amazing feedback that you are providing to the XDefiant team and I think this will help them make the best version of the game by release. Well done.
My biggest gripe as an M&K player is the ADS sensitivity options. Instead of changing the global magnification scaling we simply have to deal with the default scaling and set "Low Zoom" and "High Zoom" sensitivity multipliers. In my case, this means if I set my sensitivity to be comfortable at 3x magnification, everything lower will feel unusably slow, while making it comfortable at 1x has the opposite effect for higher magnifications. This may feel, and even _be,_ an utterly trivial matter for many, who find the default scaling to be close to comfortable; however, for someone like me who's muscle-memory strays too far from said scaling, it genuinely makes the game completely unenjoyable. I'd be interested to know how many people agree with this sentiment, as my suggestion in the official Discord server's appropriate channel, following the previous play-test, was to no avail.
You hit the nail on the head with all the current issues with the game. But surprising with all its current flaws i thoroughly enjoyed the beta. Completely addicted to it and will be playing day one when its offcially released.
It would be great if they reached out to you for more detailed feedback to get a better game. I thought it looked great and was a good amount there, but like you say just did not feel finished. For me the netcode 'felt' off, I noticed getting shot through walls after I was in cover a LOT. Unfortunately, for me, even if they addressed everything I would still not play the game due to the insane amount of jumping (bunnyhopping) I experienced. It was ridiculous how many people just hopped about with incredible aim. That's just not fun for me. It's annoying in CoD, but in XDefiant it seemed way OP. Great Video.
Yes. Thank you. The movement felt very off. And definitely experienced what felt like hitting opponents with 8 or 9 rounds and still wasn’t getting kills meanwhile they would turn and kill me instantly. I agree with most of what you said. Thanks for the feedback and giving a voice to the concerns.
Been waiting for this video to come out. Everything you said I noticed and overall made me dislike the game. I didn’t get to play the original play test but have been looking forward to this and was pretty bummed. It especially sucked watching all the streamers just beaming anything that moved yet it literally felt like there was bloom on my guns. Even spent time in the shooting range trying to figure out wtf was happening. Net code is junk honestly.
This describes my experience perfectly. If everything in this vid was fixed, it will be a great game but not feeling it in the current state. If it releases like this I will probably only last a week on it.
Ace is spot on. I found the controls in Xdefiant to be very off and most youtuber cant pin point exactly what is wrong. But every point Ace has mentioned is contributing to the off feeling when you think about it. I think Xdefiant is close to getting the controls perfect so hopefully Mark Ruben can watch this.
Sprint issue is even more common with slow aim snipers with fast aim build it's so bizarre how this work, and network wise I might be wrong but I find that sometimes even you hit an ennemie and show you the hitmarker, the enemie actually doesnt take thoses dmg at all. Maybe hitmakers are client side and dmg dealt are servers side MAYYYYBE. A good game with a lot of potential, hope they will improve the game and hopefully make this pressure that CoD's need to try harder. Thx for the video, like always a great work! ps: i'm french, sry if my english is not perfect at all
I hope they add more options for adjusting the HUD and on screen UI elements with regards to their size and location. The HUD feels very claustrophobic and obstructive. Aside from whats mentioned in the video, I really hope they are able to add MNK to console as the PC test was littered with suspicious stuff. People under and out of the maps, infinite xray vision and a good few potential aimbotters. Fortunately cods implementation of MNK is fairly decent enough(still not PC like), that people can enjoy the game on something theyre comfortable with. Especially if like me, you get carpal tunnel when holding controllers for periods of time. Makes me quickly remember why I switched to console for these genres of games years ago.
I agree with all of your points. It feels really good, but not the overall polished and refined feeling of a game like COD is. I really hope they can fix alot of the things making it feel inconsistent cause the game has alot of potential!
The suggestions and observations aren't nitpicking. This is because CoD development process has a decade of experience. This is basically what experience means. I guess we should cut some slack to CoD dev teams, cause albeit all the menu, lags, monetization issues and etc they can nail down these small details.
People thinking X-Defiant is the great white hope alternative to COD probably don't know Ubisoft's track record. I'd put Ubi at the same foot as Activision or half a notch above in the ranking of consistently bad game companies that used to be good a decade ago.
@@xxPhoenixX-sg9tr It's not even the woke stuff, it's monetization and game design choices too. They became extremely risk averse, making the same game over and over, and I think they were the first company to put a straight up store in a full priced title back in AC Origins. They been going down that rabbit hole ever since.
@@xxPhoenixX-sg9trthat’s not the reason they just make every decision based on extracting as much money as possible and in the process like most big companies forgot how to make good games. wokeness has nothing to with why games are the way they are, it’s the greater shareholders.
This is a wonderful rundown of the issues as they stand. TBH, I think they should release it asap and just fix it on the fly. If it sits for another 6 months, I'm afraid it's DOA. Treyarch has had 4 years of dev time on Gulf War. This year's COD is going to bang.
That’s so weird Ace, I had the same feeling abut the controller at the last play test for console. It felt much better to me this time. I’ve seen several people say similar things on both sides. I wonder why it’s not consistent for everyone.
This game had quite a few positives, and some glaring negatives for us. My son and I played for about 12 hours over the weekend. Positives: We really liked the flow of the maps, they looked and felt great The game audio was awesome, except for that announcer, that volume went to 0 in a hurry The input based/crossplay matchmaking was a huge. Wish we had that option in CoD. Negatives: One match, aiming felt like greased sandals on ice. The next felt normal, the next felt like my DPI was at 400. I know this was a server stress test, but good god was it frustrating at times. It seemed like on our end, 1 in 5 shots were registering, and we were dying in one shot from everything. One match in particular, a player was stationary and I hit them with 20 rounds from my M4 at what I would call medium/close range before they turned and laid me out with a single shot from their double barrel. Another instance was Pueblito, a player was crouched looking under the garage door, i came up behind with an mp7, 10 shots to the back of their head and I died to their P90 in what felt like a tenth of a second. This is how the game played for us the majority of the time. Mantling/vaulting/getting up from a slide has an odd hitch about it that kind of breaks the momentum. Not too big of a deal, just kind of an eyebrow raising thing. All in all, I can see the potential with this game, I just hope this test provided them with enough data to get some kinks worked out.
Personally i loved it. I have loved every test, closed and open session/beta. The most important issue that you pointed out, the random times net code or ttk was randomly in favour to my opponents. I know people will say its a skill issue, though when you play a game for multiple hours on end you start to have a visual memory of the damage/bullets you're taking or giving. The variables when these issues occur stick out like a sore thumb.
I genuinely think this test was very good. The only true 2 big issues are hit reg and lobbies disbanding after most games but the disbanding honestly does not bother me. Those are just my 2 main problems and my personal ones are those players who bunny hop but that's just CoD players excited for not having sbmm. Other than that, I truly believe the game is finish. I experienced no lag. No crashing. I played the beta and liked it too but the hit reg just needs help. Also the narrator saying you are on a rampage after 1 kill or at the start of the game is funny. And then he randomly says "im getting killed" like what? OH! HOWEVER I do desperately want a "mute all" button in the lobby or in game. I'm tired of joining a lobby and dudes yelling to the top of their lungs Edit: Yeah Ace I noticed that too where bullets just go slightly off and you can clearly see bullets miss
Netcode is the worse I’ve seen yet. It feels like a glorified mobile game. It needs at least another year of work at minimum. The beta I played 10 months ago felt better
I think you nailed it. Some games felt good then all of a sudden the next one did not. I stopped playing pretty quickly after multiple games where the gameplay just felt not in sinc
Ace are you planning to make gun guides on xdefiant when it launches (eventually) because am looking forward to it and you are by far the best at making the gun guides
I'm going to gauge the response with a few videos at launch and go from there. If it's really popular, I may even boot up a second channel for non-CoD content.
I 100% agree with every single point, except one: The view bobbing, I didn’t notice there was any issues with the bobbing the movement bobbing. whenever you’re sprinting I didn’t even notice there was any. So a little confused on what’s so “jarring”about it… But other than that, every single issue that I had, you touched on, every single one of them, from net code, to sprint to fire, to controller settings, everything.. Legitimately I want this game to succeed just as much as the next person, but with these issues in place, it makes it really difficult for me to come back and continue enjoying this game…
The re-centering issue is also on Kbm, I tested only holding the LMB and no matter what I did it would not re-center with no noticeable movement in any direction. Also same issue with reticle. This server test felt like a step backwards, It felt more like the initial insider sessions.
Most of the game mechanics that Ace talk about, are not bugs. It's Part of Rainbow 6 games physics. If you play siege you might be a bit better at XDefiant because they have the same or similar mechanics and game physics.
I’m really glad I watched this. I didn’t play any betas. I played roughly 10 games. The shoot feels awful. The net code(hit detection) feels awful. Makes sense
I was interested to try it, but after a couple of hours, I was done. The netcode, specifically with hit reg, was terrible: I could see numerous times where I got a hit marker, but did no actual damage. It also didn't help that, while it boasts that there is "No SBMM", I was running into the exact same skill discrepancy issues in matches as COD: me stuck on a team where 9/10 times my teammates were either deathly allergic to the objective or couldn't hit the broad side of a barn from the inside, meanwhile the enemy team was laser focused, bunny hopping everywhere and could quickscope you before you could even react. So many games just turned into a blatant one sided slaughter, where every good player was on one team or the other. At least with COD the gunplay feels better and the hit reg is far more consistent. The sad part was I wanted to like this, I really did. But at the end of the day, it just felt unfinished, and I didn't have a reason to keep playing.
There is no sbmm you got unlucky ppl just aren’t used to not seeing sbmm anymore it’s confirmation biased. You just got unlucky bro it happens some ppl don’t know how to play games it makes me so mad dude no one plays objective anymore
@nathanh2725 if you are not Activision, literal YEARS lol. And even they just pump out unfinished games and rely on slowly fixing it over the first year after release. 😂
I’ve loved playing the game this weekend, it’s a breath of fresh air for matches to not impact your next match and to have input based matchmaking. I can forgive minor hit reg issues when the core game is so enjoyable. It’s been a blast and I can’t wait for the full release.
Pc MnK feels super off I can’t put my finger on it either but it’s super hard to track I’m always feeling like I’m tracking behind and can’t keep up with the movement but then when I tweak my sense that throws me off more it’s like I can’t find a good middle ground with ads sense or hip fire sense it’s just off and extremely frustrating.
It was horrible on MnK for me. I had huge aiming and tracking issues and the problem you showed with the recentering maybe a part of it. But in general: I felt disconnected from the gun and my shots. It was more "spray and pray" than actual aiming. I never felt confident with my shots. I am not the best FPS gamer, and I am old, but I never had such a feeling in a game. Even Shatterline felt better. I played around with the settings for a couple of hours. High Sens, Low Sens, ADS multiplier up and down etc. While my aiming with low sens felt somewhat better, the feeling of being disconnected was always there. I gave up on the second day. Also want to mention, that I did not have this feeling in the first closed beta test a year ago. They added that with the second beta and since then, it never changed for me.
I think people feel the hitreg is off, because of the arena-shooter style movement in the game, especially on higher levels where people build their guns for mobility. In xdefiant if you give a different movement direction input (like, you were pressing A for going left and now you press D to go right) your character will start moving that direction instantly on max speed, while in other shooters your character generally needs time to slow down, change direction and then build up speed for the new movement input. It doesn't only make it harder for you to keep your crosshair on target while strafing, but also makes the opponent really hard to track because of their insanely high movement speed and evasive maneouvers.
I know this isn’t an issue that you would have experienced but I found with the ttk as a mouse + keyboard player it did not feel good for me. The moment was too fast at times especially with the players being able to change directions in mid air that tracking them almost became impossible.
it's so frustrating with all of these issues because despite all that, the game is still fun as hell to play. i miss having good strafe speeds like the old days!
This was my main gripe with this game. The movement and feel even just moving around felt really weird. COD and even BF 2042 feel how I'd expect an fps game to feel.
Something i experience a lot with snipers, was that there was a wierd delay from when tou pull the trigger, till the bullet fires😮 And some inconsistent hit reg.
I played a lot with the Sniper and the first 1-2 Hours were Fun but after that it felt like someone pushed a Button and the Experience changed. You played the same way but now you would not hit a target (but u did) and that happened so often and with a Sniper it was game breaking. And when you did hit ,a sometimes a Certain spot was a one hit kill and sometimes you only dealt 80-90damage. And add what you said in your Video (dying fast and so on), the thing is this Phase stopped after 1-2hours and it went back ALMOST to normal. I also think that the first Aim assist option somehow is making your move like a tank, and the first and second option is limiting or stopping your movement all round like someone is constantly hitting the breaks and is stopping you... I did not have that feeling on the third aim assist option. They should also work a bit on on some of the special abilities, the fire ammunition never killed somebody for me, it made like extra 4-6 dmg when hitting a 90 Sniper shot. So it feels like that's useless. The healer mist is too powerful and with the problems u mentioned sometimes whatever u do u can't kill the, no chance. I played with a 20-35 ping and had these experiences (don't know if that is important).
I actually mostly enjoyed playing XDefiant. Even though I only got to play a bit over an hour thanks to having to work 12 hour shifts all weekend (like every playtest somehow) but I never did find the correct settings to make it feel comfortable aiming. While moving around the map it felt slow and sluggish to look around and center on areas I expected an enemy even at 100-100 sensitivity. But then at higher sensitivities you just can't aim. Maybe some of the stuff you pointed out in this video may have had something to do with the feel I had during the playtest. But it definitely felt weird af on controller
hello ice i know its not video related but how can i turn off notifications in game like air strike coming enemy deploying bla bla. These things literally blind me in the game
As someone who’s playing this hoping it’ll blow up my channel I agree with all criticisms of XD that being said as long as COD has a monopoly on FPS we have to support decent games like XD because mw3 is only “decent” because Activision knew XD was creeping up it’s the same with 2k and nba live
It was the worst test and i played all test so far. This one i only played to level 10 because it was so awful. You can legit shoot people through walls.
Refreshing to see Ace seing similar issue because I have seen so many US content creators gasing the game and for me personally playing from EU the de-sync has been absolutely horrendous to a point that I could not bare my self to keep playing more than a few hours because I got tired of constantly dying while looking like I am behind cover only to get literally melted. There are so many aspects I love about this game and it has massive potential for being a enjoyable arcade shooter. BUT, if you are making a fast paced arcade shooter and having net code that doesn't really cut it won't make this game succesful IMO. I hope they see this in their data and managed to sort these parts out because if this doesn't get improved significantly for release I am not opting in.
I think I might have the answer for the tracers not lining up with every shot. I think this one was probably perposly put into the game, maybe they were trying to copy real life. Anyone who's been in the Military, like myself, 4 years in the U.S. Army, knows that when your using tracer rounds, not every single round in your magazine, or belt will be a tracer round. Usually it we'll be set up to where every 3rd to 5th round is a tracer, and everything in between is just normal rounds. The whole point of tracer rounds in the military, is for seeing your rounds during night fire, and it also helps when your firing larger weapons like light machine guns that have high recoil to help keep your fully automatic fire on target without needing to carefully aim at all times. Usually, the only time the military uses much tracer rounds is in training, and even then they don't use them much with smaller weapons like AR's. They will also use them on larger anti aircraft guns as well.
@TheXclusiveAce I agree with this actually. I'm curious, does it not do this on controller anymore in CoD? It definitely still does with KB+M. The NZ-41 in Vanguard was notoriously bad with a mouse because when you controlled the recoil, after finishing firing your aim would jerk nearly straight down into the dirt.
It does normally but it’s possible some guns/situations bug out at times. The sidewinder did something strange with recenter for a while as well but I think that was more due to center speed being too slow so you’d manually overcompensate rather than the recenter being the thing that overcompensates for you
Apart from having the same issues as you Ace, I also hate the fact that you can change your aim assist strength. There are 2 values I think strength and follow but by adding to many variables it makes the aim and shooting feel clumsy. I believe they should just give everyone the same aim assist values so we are all on the same playing field. Not sure if anyone else agrees.
When I first played the server test version of XDefiant, the gunplay felt awful where the TTK is painfully slow that it felt like Ubisoft’s take on Black Ops 4 in my opinion. Also, the maps are too big for 6v6 and it should be more reserved for like 10v10 or 20v20 if the game has a specific mode to it. Overall, I’m pretty sure Ubisoft could make as much improvements as possible before launch.
The first day felt really good for me, but the second day i was get weird input lag in terms of turning left and right and adsing, like im playing remote play or something.
honestly the game felt completely fine to me. I play different fps games and don't really change my settings too much though. But generally felt good. the only thing I will say is that whenever I jump on something there is a slight delay but maybe they just have to smooth out the animation. Also I will agree that sometimes it feels like I'm gone in like 2 shots while the other person takes many shots. Overall though I enjoyed it. Excited for the release.
With how terrible connections feel, I question wtf have they been doing? No new content shown, supposedly this ENTIRE TIME since the last server test has been dedicated to fixing net code and connections, but if you ask me it feels AT BEST the same but I'd argue worse then previous tests
Watching you play before you got into your opinions, the gameplay looks dated, specifically the movement. Looks floaty. Also no gun bob when moving when aiming? I don't like how much HUD is on the screen. Did you adjust anything in the settings to move the HUD closer towards the center of the screen?
1 more thing you missed (presumably bc you weren't sniping/quickscoping). When you ads and shoot, there is still full hip fire bloom (not even a tighter spread even partially ads) even a few frames AFTER being fully ads, so you have to really wait a second before shooting when trying to quickscope. Also some settings just didn't do anything. I specifically tried putting my scoped ads multiplier all the way up and all the way down and it didn't do anything whatsoever
it is realtime player balancing aka dynamic difficulty adjustment. for example, siege never had it early years and when they implemented balancing it now feels the same "desynced" way. that's what you get when balancing changes parameters like movement, gun handling etc server sided. people say ttk and ttd are not synced correcly and think about it, your client does normal damage in a normal pace. that data gets send to the server, it gets manipulated to balance the gunfight and gets send back weird. resulting in a sudden catchup of damage or lack of damage often
I loved the play test. Most fun I had in a long time. I’m not afraid of the player base not being sustainable and I feel like a lot of people feel the same way. Especially with Input Based Matchmaking. MnK players finally don’t have to face aim assist.
The netcode can be fixed, but will they is the question. Ubisoft is kindve known for having bad netcode/desync. For me, the aiming on PC I couldn’t figure out. I played a total of 15 hours of the play test and never found settings that “felt right.” The game was fun and it’s a solid premise, especially without SBMM. But the aiming for me just felt so off. I messed with the same things, acceleration curves, smoothing, sensitivity, ADS multipliers, etc. I just couldn’t figure it out. Part of me is hoping they don’t delay again, release the game in early access; and focus on netcode issues. Then figure out the aiming thing, or we can all just get used to it. I feel like they’re in a lose-lose situation though. If they delay AGAIN, the hype will most certainly take a bigger hit than it already has. But at the same time, if they launch now with bad netcode, people won’t stick around too long because of the rage quitting that comes with horrible netcode. The amount of times I died around a corner, get hit with 2 bullets and die, or put 15 bullets into someone, then I die, then the game shows them with 76 health. Man. It’s hard to not get frustrated.

The problem of finding the right settings is exacerbated by how short these playtests are. I think XDefiant would have benefited greatly if the devs would have had more of an "Just leave the servers on" mentality, especially last year!

That camera shake is like feeling the pea under the mattress. So refined :D

Exactly. The last beta 10 months ago was a way better feeling. So my question is what the hell did they do for the last 10 months
The problem isn’t time. There is conflict between the devs and the upper management. They’ll never be allowed the budget required for good server tick rate.
@@therileyobrien Yep, heard that also.
I played two, uninstalled, and then removed it from my wishlist. It's even worse than it was a year ago.
100% agreed. I didn't get through my first match. This game gets worse every time I play it. I've given it too many chances but the odd delay that the game has and the AWFUL netcode completely destroys this game

Thanks for the video, hopefully they fix some of the things you mentioned in the review.
Yeah, sometimes my character will just move even without me putting in any input. Nothing to do with dead zones, either, as I made sure they’re set right.
Bro fucking same 😂
great video i feel the same way
with every beta or play test i had a lot of fun with this game but if these sort of issues dont get fixed i wont stick for long
I have an issue where something weird happens with ADS'ing when shooting where my aiming just snaps off target about an inch (screen measurement). It might be view kick or flinch but it's so annoying.
See your gunfight a 7:07 where it looks like the aiming over compensates and snaps off target.
How do you get your team to play the objective? I never had that in my 2 hours of play
Thank you Ace for figuring out why the gunplay felt off ❤
This early? They've been running test sessions on this game for 3 years!
@thedub007 this isn't Acitvision. Games take time to come out right. Especially something as complex as massive online arcade shooter netcode and hit reg

Exactly! I'm sniping and this shit was annoying tbh.

For the shots not hitting on reticle, it's a game mechanic, there is ads spread. The ADS Stability statistic helps fixing that I believe.
I still wayyy prefer this game compared to anything cod has produced in a while.

That aim down sight- sprint out disconnect explains so much. It just feels so off and unresponsive. Tried shotguns and it’s just really off.
People thinking X-Defiant is the great white hope alternative to COD probably don't know Ubisoft's track record. I'd put Ubi at the same foot as Activision or half a notch above in the ranking of consistently bad game companies that used to be good a decade ago.
They went woke and hired based off diversity and not skill sadly it’s showing with their products
@@xxPhoenixX-sg9tr It's not even the woke stuff, it's monetization and game design choices too.
Positives:
We really liked the flow of the maps, they looked and felt great
The game audio was awesome, except for that announcer, that volume went to 0 in a hurry
The input based/crossplay matchmaking was a huge. Wish we had that option in CoD.
Negatives:
One match, aiming felt like greased sandals on ice.
Can’t wait to see 1 million Subscribers on here.
I'm tired of joining a lobby and dudes yelling to the top of their lungs
Edit: Yeah Ace I noticed that too where bullets just go slightly off and you can clearly see bullets miss

I 100% agree with every single point, except one:
The view bobbing, I didn’t notice there was any issues with the bobbing the movement bobbing. whenever you’re sprinting I didn’t even notice there was any. So a little confused on what’s so “jarring”about it…
But other than that, every single issue that I had, you touched on, every single one of them, from net code, to sprint to fire, to controller settings, everything..
Legitimately I want this game to succeed just as much as the next person, but with these issues in place, it makes it really difficult for me to come back and continue enjoying this game…
This is exactly what I expected. I heard people mentioning it right away. And I was like alright no need to play the game test then.

@TheFrankIcon yeah but how long does it take to make a game bro
I noticed this too, the mouse movement just feels real weird and off.
It's funny because most of what you experienced I experience in CoD daily
Thought it was just me
Aim response felt off to me Id like some sort of diagram to see that the curve values are and ways to adjust it
I played a lot with the Sniper and the first 1-2 Hours were Fun but after that it felt like someone pushed a Button and the Experience changed.
I feel the same. Thank you Ace.
As someone who’s playing this hoping it’ll blow up my channel I agree with all criticisms of XD that being said as long as COD has a monopoly on FPS we have to support decent games like XD because mw3 is only “decent” because Activision knew XD was creeping up it’s the same with 2k and nba live
The super TTD Vs TTK is likely to related. From back in the day, you get super packets where all the art attackers damage comes through in one update.
That recenter thing I actually LOVE. When guns have a shitload of recoil, when games recenter, you are suddenly aiming 45 degrees at the ground.
Proper implementation of recenter should never overcorrect below the origin point from when you started firing.
They really need to reduce the in game hud. The gameplay is hard to watch since the screen is so cluttered
They need at least another 6 months to a year to make this enjoyable
@@xxPhoenixX-sg9tr If this game doesn’t get polished by summer, then I’m thinking it’ll be released in the fall.
Too big for 6v6?! There’s an engagement every 5s unless you’re camping.
@@James_08_07 At least if I’m playing escort, I can camp right by where the robot carrying the package is.
The first day felt really good for me, but the second day i was get weird input lag in terms of turning left and right and adsing, like im playing remote play or something.
thank you for saying that. i knew it wasnt in my head that things felt so laggy/clunky
honestly the game felt completely fine to me. Excited for the release.
spoken like a true fanboy
With how terrible connections feel, I question wtf have they been doing?
No new content shown, supposedly this ENTIRE TIME since the last server test has been dedicated to fixing net code and connections, but if you ask me it feels AT BEST the same but I'd argue worse then previous tests
Watching you play before you got into your opinions, the gameplay looks dated, specifically the movement. Looks floaty. Also no gun bob when moving when aiming?
I don't like how much HUD is on the screen. Did you adjust anything in the settings to move the HUD closer towards the center of the screen?
Will this game run on my pc? It is a 1650 gtx AMD Ryzen 3 4100
8:20 interesting. thought cod guns would wait for the full sprint recovery time then start to ads
I specifically tried putting my scoped ads multiplier all the way up and all the way down and it didn't do anything whatsoever
it is realtime player balancing aka dynamic difficulty adjustment.
for example, siege never had it early years and when they implemented balancing it now feels the same "desynced" way.
that's what you get when balancing changes parameters like movement, gun handling etc server sided.
people say ttk and ttd are not synced correcly and think about it,
your client does normal damage in a normal pace.
that data gets send to the server, it gets manipulated to balance the gunfight and gets send back weird. resulting in a sudden catchup of damage or lack of damage often
I played a total of 15 hours of the play test and never found settings that “felt right.”
The game was fun and it’s a solid premise, especially without SBMM.
What does it mean to "set a dead zone"?
I hated being shot around corners but it was fun to play something new.
