They add premium currencies from mobile games into single player games to make more money.
Imo this game needs to release on steam as well. Feels like this game is heavily handicapping itself by staying on Uplay especially considering the vast majority of PC players prefer steam over any other launcher.
It’s possible it could happen down the line. I’m not exactly a fan of MnK players (yes I’m one of those people who thinks you guys are a little ahead of the curve and why I don’t think cross play should be a thing. Sure we have aim assist but that’s practically all we have going for us, you guys have actual human reflexes. Imo very huge difference.) but that’s beside the point. They did say listening to the community is a top priority for them. If enough people ask they’ll probably talk to Ubi to make something work out. They originally didn’t have the option to map vote, many people asked for it and by the next test they added it. Same could happen with getting it on steam. Enough people just need to ask for it.
Definitely giving it a good month to let them iron everything out. I have other games to play in the meantime. Checking in from update to update. No cash from my wallet Definitely helps😊
Its funny - when mark was talking about sbmm and said you play against the same exact people, i literally do. Theres a about 10-20 players, 1 of which is on my friends list, and i run into them constantly when playing headquarters, frequently it will happen several times in a session
Headquarters is also probably a relatively low pop playlist, however with a game as big as CoD you really really shouldn't be seeing the same names across lobbies. The worst is when you back out of a lobby before it starts after recognizing someone only to re q and load into that lobby's match lmao
Same, In MW3 I run into the same players constantly. I'm so ready for this game to not have SBMM and get more variety of other players and skill levels.
XDefiant, the Thousand Year Door remake, Multiversus, all coming out within days of each other. Gonna be busy gaming for the first time in a long time haha
They had me sold off the sole basis they have no EOMM & the fact Mark Rubin came out and talked about it IN FULL is another reason I’ll put faith in him and he was the head exec for Cod 4, Mw2 & 3 so he knows how to make a good game.
I was a little confused and nervous on the whole SBMM for the game so I searched up on RUclips to understand it a little better and this video popped up. And this video provided me much more information than I was expecting. Thank you! I appreciate it. P.S. Everyone is talking about COD not doing so good and being happy that XDefiant is releasing. I think the last COD I played was Modern Warfare 2019. But then again, I didn't really play it that much. So I would say the last COD that I actually played and put in the most time into, etc.. was Black Ops 2. After that, I don't think COD was the same, like it didn't hit the same. They were just all kinda meh.
In the era of instant gratification and where "everyone's a winner", I think the absence of SBMM could potentially be a bad thing for everyone. All the casuals might end up - as you said - realizing they're not as good as they've been manipulated to think for the last decade, and the game essentially ends up being populated by sweats. I really hope that's not the case, but it's one of my biggest fears about this game at the moment.
SBMM nowadays made it feel like a tournament, I know I'm not pro level but I'm certainly not bad, but I still have a job and want to play casually after work
So then you play a game that’s in a fantasy world thinking you are good? 😂 nah don’t you wanne get better putting in some work?! You can go play on pc then hack and cheat that’s the same low level thinking
regarding SBMM, casual players in general don’t care if they’re getting stomped or if they’re the ones stomping. They mostly care if their friends are playing or if their favorite gamers are playing. Without SBMM, I think more streamers will play and therefore influence casual players to play and by doing so their friends will play
"Shaking All Over" by the Who... Activision's new theme song? Choice for consumers is a good thing, same as competition among game studios. Many thanks!
They need to make 8v8 default so team balancing works better without the need for SBMM - team balancing is the perfect compromise, but it simply works MUCH better with larger teams, like how it was in BF. (BEFORE 2042) - not to mention the 10v10/12v12 playlists in MW3 have been a HUGE hit. 6v6 is just dead/archaic outside of tactical. Look at Combat Pacing - revolutionary, again, from the amazing SHG.
If you want every match to be close sweaty and competitive just play ranked, or any other shooter. The whole point of not having SBMM is to add variety to the gameplay, lopsided matches are part of that variety.
As usual Ace makes some amazing points. However, for me not having an algorithm forcing me to have losses would be enough to keep playing even if it’s a sweat fest. Right now with crossplay off on seriesx, if I win 2 games in mw3, it won’t put me in a game of 6v6 until o turn crossplay on, and the only reason I can see is the algorithm at play. Also playing the server test was a really good and organic experience. COD will be a better game for a lot of people like ace mentioned, but if someone who wants to get better at fps, I think Xdefiant will be a better option.
I'm excited cause I'm pretty sure I'm pretty bad at fps but never been able to tell cause of eomm I think I had like a 1.3 kd but at least now I can see if I'm good or not, here's the thing I'm okay with getting crapped on if I'm bad, I played world of tanks for years, there's something satisfying about being bad and then learning to be average then good
If lobby balance like it was in BO3 it was always, shuffle the best players and spread them across both teams. Not sure your issue with that. The important thing is the lobby is not EOMM formed at the beginning so that all people in the lobby are sweat lords, (or your level).
As weird as it sounds I’m looking forward to being absolutely stomped on as I have zero play time on this. So if they hold true to their word this means I can develop skills and utilise them as I get better. Instead of the current system where it feels like I’m progressing whereas in actuality it’s my play experience just being manipulated to feel like it
Pumped you’re gonna give xdefiant some love in your videos. If you can, please do a settings video where you showcase the best settings, controller, audio, etc, etc. thanks, Ace!
The mode that sounds like COD is interesting, I don’t like the modes where certain characters do certain things, I like a basic game where I don’t have to make too many decisions, just like the content bloat, I can’t handle all of that, that’s why I like your content, you help me sift through all of it, thx Ace
I’ll have to argue with you on the point where you said getting rid of the abilities would make it more like COD. BO3 and 4 both had abilities and is a huge reason I like to play COD. XDefiant reminds be of those days and feel a lot like COD then. But if you compare to the most current COD then I guess I understand your point.
I haven’t played COD since Blops:CW because it became so stale to me. I was talking with my brother a few weeks ago about how much fun we had playing Blops 4 because of some of the more game-y elements and identity it had. Then I heard about Xdefiant and was sold (free of charge, of course). I’m excited to have 6v6, special abilities, no sbmm, longer ttk again. Hopefully it ends up being as strong in practice as it sounds like it will be.
also I hear upcoming factions may include wolves from ghost recon breakpoint and far cry new dawns highwaymen watchdogs legion and many more but forgot names
I'm interested to try it out, but I am very wary after the last playtest, since the hit registration was still very hit and miss (pun intended). Also, the note you mentioned about the potential issue with no SBMM (where all the good players move over to XDefiant and scare away all the low skill players) makes me concerned, because I was already seeing part of that during that same play test. So many times I was stuck on a team where they were deathly allergic to the objective and had no thumbs vs. guys that were coordinated, objective minded and had uncanny aim and reflexes. It honestly didn't feel any better than CoD, but maybe with the full release we will have a larger pool to draw from and we will get a better balance. Because I'm sick of going massively negative in my KD because I'm literally the only one on my team going anywhere near the point.
Was looking for this comment😂 I will say it did get progressively better near the end for me. Was hitting 25 to 30 kills per match. Where as at the start was only getting 10 or so. Here's hoping 🙏
I think controlling the streamers is just as important for player retention as SBMM is for the casuals. I think no SBMM will get more big streamers to play and keep playing thus the viewers (good or bad) will play the game too regardless of no sbmm.
Will be happy to see a “no ability” mode. Any game with these “Overwatch” style character abilities immediately turns me away, but a regular mode might actually be fun.
I'm glad someone is making a game without SBMM, but the last CoD we had without it was Infinite Warfare. Even though I loved it, a lot of people just stopped playing, and I'm expecting the same thing will happen here.
@@ThedFyne I didn't notice any. Had a 2KD, 4WL and I would still occasionally get matched up against people playing their first match. Kinda felt bad lmao.
The success of this game is going to be entirely on how big the player base becomes. If the player base is big enough there will be plenty of bad players for other bad players to kill and practice improving their skills against. If the only people that show up are CoD pros who hate SBMM then it’s going to be rough. Based on the betas though it felt like old CoD skill levels and if anything I think betas should be sweatier than the actual launch.
I'm really looking forward to it. Maybe a little presumptuous, but going off of the support structure that Rainbow Six has gotten, they promised 10 years of support for that game, and while there have definitely been rough seasons, we are closing in on that 10 year promise. That's just to say that Ubisoft for all of their faults, have been willing to commit to long term growth on these games. My biggest concern is how they handle xp rates or rate of progression which... we'll know soon enough. I would be worried that as a F2P game, they would be incentivized to cripple the rates and introduce mtx for double xp or some such thing in a game where the best loadouts could be the last ones unlocked... or yknow, some version of blueprints with optimized kits... Then again, maybe I shouldn't put that into the universe. I'd really like to look back and say, xDefiant exceeded my expectations.
@TheXclusiveAce, I can't wait to see your content for Xdefiant. I really enjoy the dedication and attention to detail you put into your work and am stoked to see that trickle over to this franchise. Still enjoying COD, but would love to see the same content applied to this game as well. Keep on, keepin on, brother! 🫡
I wish mic preferences would be part of match making. Some games I want to talk and other games I don’t, and both times I want to be in lobbies with people who are the same.
This sounds like it's going to be everything that call of duty used to be, and still should be but hasn't been in a lifetime. The identity that call of duty lost a lifetime ago. I'm super excited.
@MisterCaution the way the game will play aka no forced extreme sbmm, is how classic cod was. No more systems in the background dictating how your experience should go. That alone makes it far more like classic cod than modern cod will ever be.
Ace you should look into the Destiny 2 SBMM experimentation and updates over time, it’s pretty interesting. Kind of got to see how removal of SBMM in casual played out, but Destiny is a very different game with PvP not being the primary focus and meta gear giving a much greater power disparity in comparison to something like COD. Excited to see how this game’s matchmaking in casual works.
I've though before recently that Xdefiant would fail or die after launch, but I have to remind myself to not judge a game until it has released and also to play it myself to get my own personal opinion before I make any kind of statement. I think that because of how SBMM or EOMM has protected many players by "pulling the wool over their eyes" in the terms of their own skill in COD, I think that Xdefiant will be like a heavy dose of reality to who is good and who isn't, those who accept that they aren't as good as they thought but understand that it was COD's matchmaking causing this artificial skill, will stick around to appreciate Xdefiant's raw skill of trial-by-fire and actually seek to improve themselves vs those who grew comfortable in the lie of COD's matchmaking algorithm, will realize that they're really just not very good at all, will shy away from the game out of humiliation or frustration because they thought they were the "big shot" on COD but in a raw skill scene, are just the arrogant and ignorant noobs who try to show off but look stupid. I am really looking forward to Xdefiant because it will be a good clean slate to revive the challenge of getting your ass kicked at first or being terrible then as you take a step back to try and fix your wrongs, you start to do better and better than before instead of getting kicked in the teeth then being coddled like with COD-that really ruins a lot of the fun aspects that I wish modern fps games had.
looking forward to giving this a go . Sounds like the crossplay option is still going to be annoying on xbox , my platform . Why is it so hard to have console only selectable in game on xbox ? ? If the no sbmm in casual is true this could be amazing . How about not disbanding lobbies ? This could be the answer all the disconnected cod players and ex battlefield players need . Specialists is annoying as the last time i was forced to play like that was bf2042 and everyone looked the same on both teams it was annoying and stupid bit like the whole 2042 experience. Please for the love of God never preorder an EA game.
The only question is does it take a century to find a match with Crossplay off on Xbox like MW3? Cause I turn Crossplay off on MW3 I don't even get matched.😂
Did you ever get feedback on your last xdefiant video titled something still feels off about xdefiant? I really want them to have made some changes tbh. It literally touched on what i think i was feeling for every playtest of this game. And it really turned me off to it. Just couldnt put my finger on the issue until your vid but it fits.
Yep! I talked to the devs directly about the feedback and they mentioned they’ll be able to make adjustments based on it but they didn’t give me any specifics
I really hope the game's a somewhat success, so we can have a larger variety of players and the no sbmm thing can work. Let's hope that the quality of the game itself, the marketing and the fact that it's a f2p game, it's enough for that.
I really want this game to succeed. Even if it's a little rough around the edges, I just so appreciate their philosophy behind it and their understanding of what a cancer in the industry EOMM has become. I fully expect to sink some decent time into this game over the next while.
The problem with turning off crossplay in the Xbox settings is that it completely breaks matchmaking. In the OG WZ, if i turned it off, i simply would not find a match, period. While you did catch my interest with the mode with no abilities, that immediately lost it again.
I got my ass whooped countless times in MW2 but damnit it was just a fun game. If we can get that back in XDefiant, I'm here for it. The only thing that worries me atm is the gunplay. It almost looks like Division 2 gunplay packed into a FPS. It makes sense since it has the same engine but I just don't know if it's quick enough.
It was so fun when lobbies stuck together and the teams reshuffled each game. Bantering enemies would become fun teammates, the objective was played more, and wins were more important than k/d. If anything disbanding lobbies make people are more toxic now because people just say shit at the end of the game and disappear.
Do you think there will be an input change option on console? Like if I want to use kbnm instead of controller, I didn’t see an option for that in the beta
If Xdefiant gets abandoned by casuals or they just don’t pick it up then sbmm will become even stricter across the industry. It’s good they are testing it but I think it will go bad personally because casuals will be pushed away and hardcores/youtubers are mostly gonna play where the player base and viewership is if people aren’t interested in xdefiant then hardcores/youtubers will abandon it too. Most hardcores will go back to cod if that’s where the player base and viewership is especially if it just becomes a sweat fest if casuals leave.
Which is sad because this is a free to play game that doesn't come out annually unlike cod. But people are just going to stick with what they are comfortable with
@@ashtonjack that’s why I’m very worried for xdefiant the delays mean they probably spent a lot of money on this game and they not only need people to play it but like it enough to spend money in the shop and on the battle pass even if people come and play it if their main game is cod and only occasionally they play xdefiant they probably won’t spend money on xdefiant

The delays and extra time was not because they were adding content, they were not done the game yet. Year One content is simply Base Content stripped, because it's already done and has absolutely no reason not to be in the game right now.
There is no skill-based matchmaking because even after years of R6 Data, they know they can't do mass-SBMM. They aren't skilled enough. They do not have SBMM because they are not competent enough to implement any at a large scale. They are not keeping lobbies right at launch because they are not competent enough to release it at launch.
Go ahead and call me a doubter, but I haven't seen a single clean Ubisoft release of any multiplayer game. I have only experienced almost 20 years of Ubisoft chasing trends in order to make money. I have only seen Ubisoft implement NFTs into their games despite their entire audience saying "NO" and then turn around and say "we listen to feedback". They add premium currencies from mobile games into single player games to make more money.
@@DamienDarksideI still play The Division 2 and think it's the best looter shooter on the market BY A THOUSAND MILES... It's not even close...
The lack of SBMM alone meant I had more fun in one weekend of xdefiant than the last 5 years of cod
Are you still playing it now?
Enough people just need to ask for it.
ubisoft love shooting themselves in the foot after all
@@seniorordenanza2387 Aim assist is straight up broken in new cods though.
@@seniorordenanza2387Weird little rant there on a channel for a game dominated by controller like CoD lol

I'm totally checking this out Tuesday. Gonna give it a fair go.
Definitely giving it a good month to let them iron everything out. I have other games to play in the meantime. Checking in from update to update. No cash from my wallet Definitely helps😊
There's gonna be 6 weeks of drops in Twitch during the preseason: an XP boost and 2 gun skins each week. I don't think that was mentioned.
Appreciate the info. I've been trying to collect all the rewards for this game
I’ve been having this happen all the way back since MW2019. I kept running into a player named Lana Rhoades, lmao.
Mark Rubin made my favorite CODs and helped make my childhood, I’m so happy he’s back on the scene!
XDefiant, the Thousand Year Door remake, Multiversus, all coming out within days of each other. Gonna be busy gaming for the first time in a long time haha
Looking forward to it, I remember playing the beta and it was great.
They had me sold off the sole basis they have no EOMM & the fact Mark Rubin came out and talked about it IN FULL is another reason I’ll put faith in him and he was the head exec for Cod 4, Mw2 & 3 so he knows how to make a good game.
When he said those players used to getting protected by SBMM get “stomped on”, I lost it 😂
I was a little confused and nervous on the whole SBMM for the game so I searched up on RUclips to understand it a little better and this video popped up.
I really hope that's not the case, but it's one of my biggest fears about this game at the moment.
lol a lot of ppl are gonna realize they suck
Summer is here time to grind
@@djcook I might realize this myself lmao
SBMM nowadays made it feel like a tournament, I know I'm not pro level but I'm certainly not bad, but I still have a job and want to play casually after work
So then you play a game that’s in a fantasy world thinking you are good? 😂 nah don’t you wanne get better putting in some work?! You can go play on pc then hack and cheat that’s the same low level thinking
I've been waiting for this game for years. No other game has had so much hype from me for so long!
Not even gta6??

Part of the reason why I mainly play PvE games is that I can never relax in most modern PvP games. The beta's were a blast, so I'm excited!
regarding SBMM, casual players in general don’t care if they’re getting stomped or if they’re the ones stomping. They mostly care if their friends are playing or if their favorite gamers are playing.
Without SBMM, I think more streamers will play and therefore influence casual players to play and by doing so their friends will play
I like how the ‘CoD killer / return to classic arcade shooter’ has a bunch of silly sci-fi abilities and will need to add a mode to not
"Shaking All Over" by the Who... Activision's new theme song? Choice for consumers is a good thing, same as competition among game studios. Many thanks!
Loved both betas I played and really enjoyed the variety no SBMM provided. Really looking forward to this game launching.
Adding more players cause more issues
If you want every match to be close sweaty and competitive just play ranked, or any other shooter.
The whole point of not having SBMM is to add variety to the gameplay, lopsided matches are part of that variety.
Would love to see a second channel covering XDefiant! Been watching you since BO2 and would love to see that additional content!
0:12 hey let my boy Espresso alone
espresso is very annoying such a nerd
I love their thoughts on matchmaking. But what I don’t like is how their movement/gunplay feels. Unfortunately, that’s way more important.
Man, this brings me back. I still miss Survarium.
Really couldn't care less about this game until the recent discussion about SBMM, now I am extremely excited to try out their game.
The mode that sounds like COD is interesting, I don’t like the modes where certain characters do certain things, I like a basic game where I don’t have to make too many decisions, just like the content bloat, I can’t handle all of that, that’s why I like your content, you help me sift through all of it, thx Ace
honestly i just want a fun and balanced game like everyone else, i also hope it can run on lower end consoles and pcs to give everyone an experience!
I'm super hyped for this game, I hope it succeeds, and I'd be totally down to subscribe to a TheXDefiantAce second channel if you go that route.
also I hear upcoming factions may include wolves from ghost recon breakpoint and far cry new dawns highwaymen watchdogs legion and many more but forgot names
Mark Rubin said, that they already finished work on Year 1 content, and will start shortly working on Year 2 content 😎
I think controlling the streamers is just as important for player retention as SBMM is for the casuals. I think no SBMM will get more big streamers to play and keep playing thus the viewers (good or bad) will play the game too regardless of no sbmm.
I need those dialled in settings Ace . Movement felt worse last playtest. Could just be I was not use to it.
I was very interested when this was announced, I tried the Beta, it wasn't that good. I might give it another try, but I think it is overhyped.
Organic lobbies are back the ups and downs of matchmaking with no SbMM is going to bring back that nostalgia
Will be happy to see a “no ability” mode. Any game with these “Overwatch” style character abilities immediately turns me away, but a regular mode might actually be fun.
I CANNOT WAIT 2 PLAY THIS GAME🤩🤩🤩
Can't wait to play this finally!
A breath of fresh air
I'm glad someone is making a game without SBMM, but the last CoD we had without it was Infinite Warfare. Even though I loved it, a lot of people just stopped playing, and I'm expecting the same thing will happen here.
iw had fairly heavy sbmm, it started with aw
I totally forgot about this game, can't wait to try it out later
I can’t wait to to play
I will try it out and I'm happy about the matchmaking. Mostly concerned about the gunplay issues you raised previously.
@MisterCaution definitely nothing like overwatch, you must be seeing things.
i just finished Interstellar camo two days ago, and i don't wanna touch MW3 for at least a week. the timing is perfect
I hope the launch goes well. If it does I have a feeling I'm gonna fall ill and need to call in a sick day at work 🤷♂️
Ace you should look into the Destiny 2 SBMM experimentation and updates over time, it’s pretty interesting. Kind of got to see how removal of SBMM in casual played out, but Destiny is a very different game with PvP not being the primary focus and meta gear giving a much greater power disparity in comparison to something like COD. Excited to see how this game’s matchmaking in casual works.
As a watchdogs fan I truelly love the noodle map brings back memories
💯
I can't wait for this.
Input lock in ranked is so good feature
Very hyped for the game
The thing about sbmm sounds nice, but more importantly; will the game be good?
Really hoping to get some weapon guides from you for XD 🙏
I like that theres going to be input based MM... needs to be standard
You nailed the problem with lobby team balancing
Really hope they add TDM down the road.
I’m so curious and excited looks fun
So if Xclusive Ace makes an Xdefiant centered channel, what could it be named? I see potential considering both prominently feature X in their names.
looking forward to giving this a go .
OH COOOOOL!!!
whats flinching week?...
The only question is does it take a century to find a match with Crossplay off on Xbox like MW3? Cause I turn Crossplay off on MW3 I don't even get matched.😂
Thank you sooo much for making a late video & telling us everything we already know. 🤦♂️🤷♂️😂 3 minutes into the video and moved on to another ✌🏼🎬
I'm above average cod player (diamond ranked) and sooo looking forward to no sbmm.
Gonna be interesting to see how the game does in the coming months
Did you ever get feedback on your last xdefiant video titled something still feels off about xdefiant? I really want them to have made some changes tbh. It literally touched on what i think i was feeling for every playtest of this game. And it really turned me off to it. Just couldnt put my finger on the issue until your vid but it fits.
Yep! I talked to the devs directly about the feedback and they mentioned they’ll be able to make adjustments based on it but they didn’t give me any specifics
@@TheXclusiveAce thanks for the update
I really hope the game's a somewhat success, so we can have a larger variety of players and the no sbmm thing can work. Let's hope that the quality of the game itself, the marketing and the fact that it's a f2p game, it's enough for that.
Looking forward to this finally releasing but its still a big mistake to not be putting it onto steam
Played one round at launch, I think this might be my new shooter till black ops comes out 😮
I got my ass whooped countless times in MW2 but damnit it was just a fun game. If we can get that back in XDefiant, I'm here for it. The only thing that worries me atm is the gunplay. It almost looks like Division 2 gunplay packed into a FPS. It makes sense since it has the same engine but I just don't know if it's quick enough.
It felt like Cold War to me which isn’t that bad I love Cold War still.
@TheXclusiveAce how does the movement feel compared to COD? A lot of FPS games feel sluggish. COD feels just right.
Looks so nice but I feel like the HUD is a bit too crowded
Imma rock that MP7 🙌
I don’t mind getting stomped as long as I can eventually stomp back but I will enjoy being able to use different things and have some fun instead of constant META load outs and forehead pressed to the screen …sweaty pits too!
I noticed SBMM was a problem when I'd be matched up against or with the same people multiple times in a row on a prime time weekend
9:30 the fact of the matter is, i DO play the same types of people every game 🤣 every single match has spam jumpers, every single match the outcome of the game is so close in score JUST like cod. I see no difference in this matchmaking personally lol so when they make it to where lobbies stay together thats going to be a blessing
