The developers have said "no pay-to-win", so it sounds like all heroes will be available for free and all monetization will be for cosmetics. I've really enjoyed my time in the alpha and I hope they're able to clean up some of the small issues and address some of the balance concerns. If they do, we'll have a really fun, really solid team-based hero game on our hands.
I feel like the climbability on maps is purposefully done with coverings in some areas, same as with Overwatch, you don't want your DPS wall climbers just climbing every and any wall, there needs to be limitations on a movement ability like that.
I didn’t know this was made by netease, and when I did man did my heart drop. I play Identity V which is made by them, and they really push skins and cosmetics for high prices. Hoping it won’t be the same here

Solid review, yeah my biggest gripe about the game is the map layouts and some of the hero balancing. Odin's Archive needs a rework and chars like Starlord are busted. However, the game is very polished for an alpha, and hopefully they act on this feedback.

Went out of their way to make it vague, and didn't even mention it in the thumbnail or title it had anything to do with the game.
I’ve been enjoying playing as Black Panther he’s my highest playtime hero. You gotta stay back, snipe, stay near healers, and use vibranium mark carefully. It’s really fun once you get the hang of it.
While absolutely not a game I'd be remotely interested in, I gotta respect your honesty in having an open review of this. This is the kind of gaming commentary we need more of.
I am 100% onboard with you're review. Also love that you are playing a lot of Mantis. I think she is great and they need to give more credit to those who are in the healing role.
I really like you said around 8:20. One thing I think Overwatch did exceptionally well is to create maps that clearly accommodate hero's abilities. They make it very clear to characters who can climb/fly where they can access, as well as ensuring many of the "warzone path" such as the gap everyone must pass through is almost exactly the same size of a reinhardt's shield. It communicates very clearly and intuitively to players that you need a shield wielding tank to walk through this part of the map safely, or you can climb over this particular ledge to go around it. If you pick rocket racoon hoping to gain high ground but the map cock blocks you from gaining that advantage, that's poor map design. My overall impression of rivals from watching it is that it can be the next big game like Overwatch, but it's got a lot of polishing work to be done.

Great review, I couldn’t agree more, as I have also been enjoying this alpha a lot as well. I think you landed all the issues, all the amazing qualities and all the OKs. And like yourself I will not touch that CC contract without that clause being removed. The saddest part honestly is they really don’t need it. I think having team synergy that’s boosts characters stats is amazing. Making it seasonal could be an issue but it would be easy to figure out. FF should get buffs together
The destructible environments were the biggest thing I noticed. It was so hard to know what was destructible even tho there’s a button, the respawning was super fast and annoying and it felt forced just to have something fresh
I think we need to give the maps some time because the destructible maps provide a lot of alternate routes to avoid choke points and players are not using it to its full potential because the game is so new

Some of the animations seem almost reskinned from character to character or seem weak all together. When i see people play it, i cant even tell when they use some of their abilities because its just... bleh. Id like to see them touch up the animations and make them alittle more individual or alittle more grand.
Facts I noticed a lot of cut corners myself… mainly the reused animations and the lack of weight in all the different “powers” being used… It eerily reminds me of that “Shinobi Striker” game lol… (not a good thing )
I'm shocked by the view-to-like ratio on this video, it seems low to me, I'd expect many more likes. The first minute of this video is exactly what I visit the internet to hear. Are people really just here to hear a number-out-of-ten? Or worse, are they just here to hear a biased positive review?
Will you be uploading regular gameplay videos as well? I know you look for making videos with a clear purpose that're usually informative like for snap. But I'd find it really cool if we could also just get regular gameplay. Just for fun yk...
Your main concern is my main concern. Overwatch 2 just made its whole roster free to play this last month or so. So I'm a bit worried about this games hero acquisition knowing the publisher. Hopefully, they aren't greedy like early overwatch 2 and sell hero's.
I think the team bonuses are cool and when lots of characters get in the game and they have lets say 12 bonuses at a time that still provides them and changes the meta for that season but gives lots of choice

Black Panther totally unplayable? Mate, you clearly haven't been playing in Gold rank & above! There's some seriously good Black Panther players out there that will absolutely wreck your team's back line! Also, I really think you're being way too harsh on the environments. They are far from "trash". Yes, there are some issues with certain choke points and some maps its impossible to contest a point if you get team wiped as you don't have time to get back, but those are issues that can be resolved in time. Even Overwatch still has some map issues 8 years in! Besides, the graphics are gorgeous to look at and the destructible aspects of them, while they can be a tad frustrating at times (although you can just shoot your way through them again!), add a whole new and exciting element to the game.
5:09 just came from a stream of someone absolutely destroying enemy teams as Black Panther. I don't think he's bad, I think like Genji, he's just very hard to play. Also find it funny nobody seems to have anything to say about the video itself. All the comments are just 'That opening speech'.
I like the stage destruction though it is buggy. A lot of the things you dislike are side effects of things I think we just have to get used to because we never had systems in place like this
I still don’t necessarily believe they passed NDAs bc SOMEONE would’ve broken it by now, but it’s ashame if they did, bc that literally wouldn’t help them in a CLOSED ALPHA, and also no one has said anything highly negative about the game, so it was really for nothing, if anything that means they weren’t confident in their own product

There's an unowned box toggle on the character select screen. Most likely you unlock characters or can buy them to get them faster.

Some cosmetics are pay 2 win in terms of blending in. Like Fortnite the dance flip to lay down you can hide behind beds in houses and not be seen
