As much as I love Fae Farm, I really do wish there was just a little something more to it. All the characters say the same thing over and over and I just feel like for the price there could have been a little more depth to them.

Hi Jade, I've been playing coral Island on my dads Xbox through Game Pass (meaning I don't get to play often), but I definitely will get it when it comes out on switch because I do kinda enjoy it I just get lost all the time 😅
Coral island is great but keep in mind, none of the main quests are complete right now. I bought in a few months ago during early access, put in 100 hours before I had done everything possible. They just released version 1.0 and I’m a bit disappointed that the game is still essentially the same as it was before… “work in progress”. Also it has crashed on me quite a lot and only saves at the end of every day, so you stand to lose a lot of progress. It was enough that I stopped playing after restarting from the beginning for 1.0
Your video made me pick up Coral Island on Steam. I wasn't sure on whether to get Fae Farm or Coral Island but you made it seem like an easy choice despite both games looking great. Many thanks!
Coral Island is one of the best farming games we've seen in a long time imo. it's so well done and everything about it feels really diverse. it's like every good thing from every farming game put into one basically!
I played a lot in early access but didn’t realize I’d half to restart my game after 1.0, keeping all my money is nice but I really haven’t felt compelled to do it all over again, it seemed like all that was added was the mermaid kingdom, honestly thinking about all those hrs spent cleaning the ocean to get there once I’ll probably never do it again.
You are legit the only reviewer that said a pass for Fae Farm and I'm here for it. Other reviewers were giving this game an S tier rating and I cannot understand why. I paid full price for this game and it so wasn't worth it. I lost interest after about 20 hours into the game. I am playing Coral Island on PS5 and it is pretty buggy, however, it is still a better game than Fae Farm by far. My whole existence has been Coral Island since Nov 14. I love it.
Great video, BWICK! You basically covered all the games that would be on my list of cozy games, so I don’t have any recommendations, but please make another one of these videos if you can.
I adore Fae Farm and can’t wait for the next two DLCs. I thought for the 60$, if you split it 3 ways for the initial game and 2 more DLCs it’s like 20$ per. Which isnt terrible and I’m sure they’ll flesh things out more. Right now I’m playing that, DDLV, SoS Mineral Town and then FF14 online 😊
I've been playing alot of My Time at Sandrock (my switch says over 100 hours) Played abit of Suika and its fun for me in the same way that Alto's Adventure is (1700 is my high score in suika, but I've barely played it) Fae Farm is okay for me right now -I'm just at the beginning so far and some parts are good, some parts annoy me (like the slightly blurry to me graphics that make me think of Yonder or Grow) There are just so many games I want to play right now. Both Dinkum and Len's Island have new updates that look great and Planet Crafter ate up my morning. I think Coral Island will just have to wait for now though Great video btw!
I've been addicted to Coral Island, I wont tell you how many hours I have it in it!!! I have enjoyed watching the vods of you playing - not being a big farm sim player your take on things and method of playing has been refreshing!! I got over 3000 on the watermelon game but have not been able to reproduce or beat the score since!!!
you’ve gotta be so far in it! 😂there’s also a theory going around that suika changed something. a lot of people haven’t been able to get their 3000 again!
I've enjoyed this game more than I can remember ever enjoying stardew. It was fun but this game just seems more nuianced, and without even being finished. Excited to see where it all goes!
I adore Coral island. I got it last Christmas for Early Access. I have been playing 1.0 and am almost done with Spring. Well I decided to take a break until more content drops. It's connected to the Romance factor (that's mandatory for me at this point because it's one of the ways I decide what games I want in this specific genre). I won't spoil it since you never mentioned it, but yeah it's connected to that. LOL, Nintendo decided to launch a free trial for about a week for Fae Farm. Now originally I wasn't going to get it because of the price point, but since I do have an online membership, I am trying it. It's definitely charming so far, but yeah you can tell it's ALL about the crafting and I don't know if that's going to be enough for me, even with Romance (I kept hearing it's light on the romance). At least I know if I do get the game down the line, anything saved here will get transferred over. Other games I have no interest in for one reason or another. Dave the diver, the restaurant part looks too hectic for me, Moonstone Island, don't like that type of combat with the cards, and that Watermelon game, I've played a game like that before in the past, it's meh at best for me. And no I am not thinking about Tetris, that's more fun if you ask me lol. Now as far games I am playing now, well, I just played this cozy platform, puzzle game called Submerged. It was on sail in the Nintendo e-shop for a couple dollars. Mind you the story is heavy. It's one of those games that tells the story with little to no dialect. Really enjoyed the game and I heard there's a sequel, but it's not on the Switch. I am mostly playing Genshin Impact and Harvest Moon: Winds of Anthos.
Very helpful! What I’ve seen of Fae Farm, I didn’t love… and somehow that made me skeptical of Coral Island 🤷🏼♀️ Now I’ll probably go back and watch your streams so I can see more. Thanks for your honest opinions!
I agree- my regret spending full price for Fae Farm is real. I play more of Suika game at a couple of bucks… Thanks for your review! Have a happy thanksgiving!
I just bought Fae Farm on Switch. Played for 30 minutes or so. I was looking forward to this game, I could only see YT reviews and gameplay but it looked fun, relaxing, the font is right up my alley. So far experience is average. I'm disappointed the game loading times (about 50 - 60 seconds when you load game or some instances, this is by far, the longest load times I've had in Switch, am I being too impatient?) Sometimes screen freeze for 0.2 second when you're out and about. Putting the nail in the coffin, when I was trying to save the game, I attempted to went to bed but game said "You'll go to bed when the time is right", so I selected "Quit to Title" from settings menu. Yes, I lost progress of about 10 minutes of fishing/gathering/capturing bugs, I wasn't angry.. I was disappointed.. Pheonix Labs, I'll remember this.
Great review vid... I agree with all of your opinions. Fae Farm was great, and I know we're getting DLC.... but it's missing something. I cannot get ENOUGH Coral Island.
Thanks Blaine!! I've yet to play any of these, but I'm excited to try Coral Island. I'm just worried it'll be too similar to Palia and currently that's my obsession 😂
This is such a good review! I also was enjoying FaeFarm, it's fast-paced and fun but after finishing all the quests and buying every wings, i just don't wanna play it anymore, I haven't even married but the writing doesn't make me want to pursue any of the romanceable candidates, so yeah, too pricy for a game i only play for a week.
Coral Island has been my go-to! I bought it in early access but only played about a half hour. Recently decided to play after v1.0 launch and now at 70 hours 😅 can't wait for the updates in 2024
Now that I'm done travelling, I'm going to play Coral Island. I've been playing since Alpha but realized I'd rather just play the game, complete, from the start. I already have so many hours in the game just from when we only had Spring and Summer fully fleshed out in the game! I know that when I play it again, I'll love it just as much if not more.
The absolute rage at the watermelon game.... Coral Island is definitely my fave off this list. I've been playing on XBox and while it doesn't run the best (yet), I have loved cozying up on the couch to play.
I have fae farm on the switch and I really like it, I have over 100 hours in it and there will be dlc too. I also like the multiplayer, it is different from other games. And of course there are always points for improvement, but I really enjoyed it and I am curious to the dlc. I am now playing the latest story of seasons, DDV, Palia and some other games
I want to play Coral Island but it is not available on Nintendo switch and my computer can't handle the game 😭, for now I am playing my Time at sandrock although it has its flaws on Nintendo switch.
Dinkum...Aussie themed farming, island creation game. Best game still early access but have had several updates and the Developer James Bendon really listens to needs and wants of played and still fixed bugs etc
The switch fae farm is more expensive is cuz they adding two dlc one of the dlc is supposed to come out sometimes in December and the other one sometimes next year
yeah I am sure I will end up enjoying the dlc if it adds on to the story! I still don’t think it will make me feel a need to continue on a longer play -through, but I will definitely check out the DLC when it drops!
I'm glad I'm not the only one finding Fae Farm quite shallow. Loving Coral Island, specially the sea stuff but I do think they copied 1:1 SDV a bit too much and it makes it lack in terms of originality, the town and the characters are dope though!
I was so excited when I first heard about Fae Farm, I got my wife and my sister to buy it so we could all play co-op, since we all like cozy games. The mechanics of this game are amazing, but there's zero story. I didn't even finish it because I just didn't care. There was nothing to hook me and having the same bland, generic dialog coming from NPCs in different villages ruined it for me. The game is amazing, I wish they'd put in a story worth playing through. Oh and they need to give you more than one day to do the NPC tasks. Let me grab a bunch and then work through them.
Maybe I’ll try Coral Island. Looks fun. I can’t play Dave the diver because sea life get killed. But otherwise it looks fun. Watermelon game might drive me nuts.
Can confirm, Moonstone Island on Steam Deck runs beautifully! I love Coral Island, but I am a little concerned with what I’m hearing in regard to how it seems like they’ve released an unfinished game, with much of the content still a work in progress. Hopefully they will release an update sooner than later before I get to that point. 😅
Yes. The game is DEFINITELY not finished and I’m shocked they are calling it full release instead of it just being another update. As someone who’s been playing it for over a year I’m baffled and really disappointed . They should have waited to do the full release until it was more complete. I highly recommend my time at Sandrock though. That game is def complete and so much fun.
I’m pumped to hear moonstone runs well on the steam deck! I agree on Coral Island as far as hoping they have more coming to it. I have heard some complaints toward the later game, but haven’t really ran into many issues myself yet.
I think the depth of the characters in Fae Farm definitely falls into what you prefer. Personally don’t mind them not being too deep as it allows me to focus on other aspect I enjoy more, though do definitely agree that the datable characters should have more depth to them. Still enjoy it nonetheless.
I have to restart Coral Island. I stopped playing it after a full in game year. Not sure why. I love Roots of Pacha but then it’s probably because it’s like Stardew Valley.
How is My Time at Sandrock not on this list??? If you like combat you’ll love it. It’s the best farming, crafting, dungeons and mining game of the year BY FAR. The story is good, romance is great, and you can easily sink hundreds of hours into it with all the side quests and main sorry being pretty long. I’m shocked you haven’t played it/ or aren’t recommending it
i haven’t had a chance to get this and try it out yet. i have also seen a lot of complaints and big time bugs with sandrock on switch at least. if i get the chance to try it out i will have to decide then!
I played the Coral Island demo and could not get into it. I don't know if it's the art style or what it is for me. Haven't played Fae Farm- it seemed to get hyped up a lot and then people put it down quickly, understandably, but I've noticed that happening with a lot of games lately so it's putting me off buying anything that I feel may be overpriced. I also feel like I'm just picky with farm sims now- Stardew is a perfect game for me and not spendy so the bar is high. Love Dave the Diver and Suika. Recently played A Short Hike, Haven Park, and Unpacking (including dark star mode) and loved them all. I'm thinking I'm going to pick up Bugsnax, Wytchwood, and The Last Campfire for the Steam sale, possibly.
I’ve really been playing My time at Sandrock and for the most part I’m really enjoying it yet I see little to zero content being made on it, I’m I just alone in my enjoyment of the game?
I have spend many many hours in Coral Island, but it honestly shouldn’t have been made 1.0 yet. Still unfinished main quests, WIP things and game breaking bugs. I spend 1/3 the time googling to see if it’s a bug or yet another WIP incident 🤷🏻♂️ I would definitely wait getting this game.
I love fae farm but the social aspect of the game needs a major rework. Other than that I lose hours playing that game and decorating and bug catching and so on and so forth
I didn't see the hype about "Fae Farms." Thank you Nintendo for the trial. That game did not seem "cozy" at all. I had things to do, which seemed tedious for me.
I've looked into Coral island and didn't feel like there were many choices for me personally as far as marriage candidates and I've just gotten busy with other games instead. I keep hearing good things about it but all my time is going into Palia right now!
I got bored of Faefarm very quickly. I want a game with interesting characters and lots of them, not so repetitive as well with all the farming. I dont want it to be the main thing i want it to be more like sims. Heavily on the people and i want it like fantasy life where you can travel far to different cultures and fetch back souveniers to your house that you can only get from traveling far...I played coral island for an hour and i loved the graphics of it so ill buy coral island on the switch when it comes out.
Coral Island is a great game but if you have game pass or a console you should wait until early 2024 to play it. Kinda buggy and missing content that you will regret not having on a first play-through.
Disagreeeee. Fae Farms released as a complete game. Coral Island released INCOMPLETE. That alone makes me hate them and makes the Fae Farm company better.
Saying coral island runs great is misleading. It is struggling to even run on xbox without constant crashing. Maybe due a little more research before misleading people
i'm playing on pc and have never had it crash a single time. i wouldn't exactly say thats misleading people, but i could've gone down the list of platforms its on and the issues on each i suppose. thanks for watchin!
i’m seeing a lot of people say it’s not complete but i don’t think i said it was complete. i just feel like it has a lot to offer vs fae farm that i felt was a bit shallow

Watermelon game might drive me nuts.
that’s totally fair! highly recommend coral island!
I'm trying to decide between Coral island and Hokko life.
Wish Fae Farm was $20 cuz I do like the way it looks
I’m buying a steam deck in January,Coral Island is my first choice!
nice! i’m dyin to get a steamdeck!
I’m gonna have to pick up Dave the Diver!!
yessss dude! let me know if you pick it up!
Coral island ❤
I hope they fix the Xbox version of Coral Island soon so I can play again 🥹
A Lot of people seem to dislike moonstone island
I’ve really been playing My time at Sandrock and for the most part I’m really enjoying it yet I see little to zero content being made on it, I’m I just alone in my enjoyment of the game?
I have spend many many hours in Coral Island, but it honestly shouldn’t have been made 1.0 yet. Still unfinished main quests, WIP things and game breaking bugs. I spend 1/3 the time googling to see if it’s a bug or yet another WIP incident 🤷🏻♂️ I would definitely wait getting this game.
just got myself a PC so I'm SO excited to finally try Coral Island!
let’s goooo!
Kinda feel like you are missing My time at Sandrock on this list
i just havent played it yet so couldn't give my opinion just yet! thanks for watchin, i'll have to check out sandrock!
I love fae farm but the social aspect of the game needs a major rework. Other than that I lose hours playing that game and decorating and bug catching and so on and so forth
Coral Island
👀🩵
I feel the same about Suika. Like, wtf I am right there it isn't hard UGH
Also on the road to 3k but I have seem some crazy scores.
Coral Island is pretty insane. Feels like Minecraft on crack lol
Astro Miner
I’m playing dream light valley and animal crossing new horizons
Coral Island is a great game but if you have game pass or a console you should wait until early 2024 to play it. Kinda buggy and missing content that you will regret not having on a first play-through.
Yeah it’s not great on my PS5 so I had some buyer’s remorse. Thankfully I have other games to play while they get things sorted out.
@@MariusMoonbeamthe sound glitches on PS5 really ruin the immersion. I hope they update it soon!
Disagreeeee. Fae Farms released as a complete game. Coral Island released INCOMPLETE. That alone makes me hate them and makes the Fae Farm company better.
I’m gonna try the Fae Farm demo they have going on this week and see if I like it, but to me, it’s it worth a full $60
this is true! of course right when i get a video out they do a free demo 😑but definitely worth checking it out for free!
How is this misleading? He’s talking about his own experience lol. I’m playing coral island as well and haven’t had a single crash.
Tysmm for putting prices for all platforms😭
just a FYI Coral Island has no end..its not a finished game
i’m seeing a lot of people say it’s not complete but i don’t think i said it was complete. i just feel like it has a lot to offer vs fae farm that i felt was a bit shallow
I need to get coral island already! I want all those pets and clearing out the ocean seems so rewarding 🥹
