So a kinda terrifying implication of there being hardly any enemies in area 9 and none in 10 is that the metroids have become so powerful that they’ve eaten every other creature.
*Spoilers* Well, that was their purpose by the Chozos, the chozos made (genetically engineered?) the Metroids in order to consume all the energy from all the creatures on SR-388 so that the X parasite (which has no other natural enemy other than Metroids) would die out because the X parasite was so incredibly dangerous
@@princephantom1294 and that's why everyone wants to use them as weapons, because they absorb some sort of energy that is unidentified by all current Galactic players but necessary for everyone to stay alive :D
@@Arceus086edit, forgot to spoiler stuff lol iirc it was more specifically that the Metroids were engineered to consume the X specifically but they got out of control fairly quickly and just started nomming on everything they could, which really isn't any nicer lol
@@sethweston3319 *Spoilers* I don't really remember but if I'm not mistaken we don't quite know exactly what the Metroid were engineered to do, we just know that the chozo did something with Metroids to make them able to consume/destroy the X
it still tickles my heart to see stephen complaining about a core aspect of metroidvania's. complaining about back tracking in these games is like complaining about leveling up in an RPG or shooting something in an FPS
also, there is a difference between a reasonable amount of backtracking, and an unreasonable amount. modern games are much better at finding the balance.
Backtracking for new items and upgrades isn't the same as backtracking for health and refills. The latter is avoidable and time-consuming with no actual progress being made.
Hey Stephen, I was wondering whether you could bring back the Fallout 4 series, more specifically the new update - new quests, power armour, mods. I’m currently watching your 270 episode series - I’m only on episode 169 but it would still be cool if you could slightly extend it and include the new gen update.

Very excited for the last episode!
Back when I played this I believe I had 2 energy tanks and maybe 100 missiles. I cannot imagine how I ever beat those 3 Omega Metroids.

Well I think it would be better to wait for latter entries in the series because of the limitations of the power ups in early games.

Good backtracking typically involves better ways of getting back to places rather than literally taking the exact same path backwards.
