Seeing Stephen place bombs to get the Metroid’s off of him, then immediately rolling away from those bombs was certainly an experience
I've never played any Metroid game so i wasn't sure if the game forces you to move around randomly when being attacked by a Metroid
But now I know that Stephen is just bad at this game lol
Maybe he figures out that’s bad by the end of Super Metroid? Probably not.
The last Metroid is in captivity. The galaxy is at peace...
So we're all in agreement that after seeing him roll away from his own bombs while trying to escape the metroids that Stephen doesn't have a leg to stand on when laughing at Mal every time she panics in combat during Zelda or Pikmin games, right? :)
The fact that Stephen beat the Queen without using the stomach-bomb strategy is wild.
I am glad that I'm watching these playthroughs instead of trying to play the Metroid games myself. I don't think I would be able to beat the final bosses of 1 or 2 no matter how much I try
I would recommend trying it though I also recommend finding a map online to help.
I really like Metroid II and beating the final boss the first time through felt amazing. The second time, I beat the boss my second try. When you know what to do, it makes things easier.

If you roll into a ball and let her swallow you, you can bomb her stomach for massive damage. You're still taking damage yourself, so maximum energy tanks are basically required, but it's far quicker and easier than doing it the normal way.

I'm sure Stephen exterminating most of the Metroids will have absolutely no major consequences for SR388'S ecosystem. I mean could you even imagine?
That'd be crazy. That would take years, I'm talking a decade plus to find out the consequences!
I'm pretty sure the colors in the final battle are just showing how the game got around the Game Boy's graphical limitations, and on an actual Game Boy the wall would all be the same color.
(Probably the body is on the background layer, head in the window, and because of how scrolling and the window work, everything to the right of either of those that would normally be in the background layer has to be a sprite (red = sprite).)
Time to see if patience pays off.

Okay so one thing i dont understand with Stephen is that he moves when a metroid is attached to him, like if a metroid is attached to you the only thing that will remove it is bombs and he puts down bombs and then moves away from the bombs, why does he do that?
He's too used to avoiding the bombs because they knock you off the walls/roof when you are using spider bomb.
The best way to get a Metroid off of you is to be slightly to the side of the bomb, not directly on it when you place it down. Unfortunately, Stephen's issue is he moved too far away from the bombs so he was completely clear of the blast radius.
I can't wait for Super Metroid! It's one of my favorite game

Lol, I believe the game time is reset if you load the game, because I kept playing from that last save and seeing samus jump out of the suit every time I loaded up the game.
I emulated metroid ii a few years ago, and i remember loving it until this ending section, fighting the Queen a few times, and then calmly deleting the game from my roms folder. I didn’t find the rest of the game particularly difficult, it really feels like they dropped the ball right at the end here. Props to Stephen for sticking it out.
If you ever want to give it another shot, there's a sort of hidden way to beat the queen. Shoot her while her mouth is open, and she'll pause. Go into ball form, jump in her mouth, and bomb her insides. You do take damage while inside her, but you only have to that about 4 times, as opposed to shooting her with the 150 missiles otherwise required.
I wonder if the developers of Luigi's Mansion were shared or had this game in mind when designing the Boo hunt...
