    It's a fine aircraft.....Having flown on and worked hundreds if not thousands of these planes for 16 years as an Co and XJT employee. I always loved the plane..This was a great video...brought back memories...the sounds, sights....and I learned some things from your comments and stats during the flight.....thanks!

    Kind of funny. I flew out of LaGuardia about 3 years ago on an American Eagle ERJ-145. We were taxiing for about 5 mins when the captain announced we'd be returning to the gate for engine issues. Turned out it couldn't be fixed in time, so we had to transfer to another aircraft. The ERJ-145 by far the best regional jet to fly on!

    Great video. You had a great video camera, I even heard the vibrations of the jet engines in my room here in Saigon, Vietnam.
    I wish I had a video camera back in July, 1999, when Northwest DC-10 we were flying on had some technical problems while taxiing. It was interesting to watch the KLM mechanics work on the plane while we were near the taxiway.

    "just had a problem with its engines"... and was examined. Best time to go, right after being inspected. Worst time would've been either on the original departure (had the problem manifested itself later) or on the previous flight. So the flight you ended up taking on it was obvjectively the safest one.

    I am a commercial aviation fanatic, and have gotten sort of bored of the usual fare on YT, but your video was refreshingly different. Nice comments along the way as you filmed. Great job! Also great that you had an "on top of it" crew up front that so quickly aborted that take off roll. Thanks for posting!

    What a fantastic video! I've never witnessed an aborted take-off before, but I have had flights where there were problems with the aircraft, and I know the feeling of not being safe onboard- it's not a fun one!

    I have a Radio Control ERJ145 for American eagle and i put a soundset on it and its spool up sounds similar to that!

    despite the 'nervous' reboarding of the same plane after a mechanical issue, just be glad the Pilot "Caught" a low oil pressure condition, and excercised his PIC to Abort. 7 hours, 9 hours, 4 hours, 32 hours.... doesn't matter. i'll sit in an airport for 48 hours, if i knew that the pilots decision to RTO, gave me, and possibly hundreds of others, another chance to finish the rest of our lives. be thankful. VERY, thankful. good job to the crew. they were ON IT.

    This was an awesome video! I've been on many RTO and have had to perform a few myself. I should err on the side of caution like you do, my first thought when the engine spool down on a RJO is how much of a delay I'm going to have to deal with! Again, great job.

    nice vid; I recall flying out of National at DC, we started the roll but shortly afterwards, we slowed and turned around...we saw a small jet landing on a runway to the left why it was overlooked was not explained...our KLM 747 Amsterdam to NYC (1975) is the very one that collided with the other 747...I had saved a route map as a souvenir and the jet was identified...My C121 flight to Libya in 1957 must have had a problem because after takeoff at Azores, we turned around.

    @seatgurus Pure pilot preference. Most times the pilot can't just roll onto the runway and takeoff unless there is not much traffic. The brake take-off is mostly used to get to takeoff power without using space. Yes, the ERJ does blow snow even when it is 100+ degrees.
    They rock a lot and even though I fly all the time I get worried with how shaky the plane feels when performing a steep bank on a sharp turn. Sometimes I worry we might go into an unrecoverable roll :D

    Same thing happened in an old AFR C-123k back in 1982. We where going down the runway close to take off speed when the pilot hit the brakes and reversed the props. Now that was a ride. It was shaking and going all over the runway. Pilot turned around and went to the end of the runway and took off again. Heard that a door popped open during the take off run. On the way home we stopped at Andrews AFB to pick up the crew from another C-123 that lost an engine on landing.

    Great video. I love the 145, flew from Edinburgh to Copenhagen in one and thought it was a great short haul jet. Just a pity BA have bought BMi and will probably drop the route and the aircraft.

    Not sure if it has been commented on yet or not, but your note about the cabin pressurizing on takeoff is correct, but the sound you hear is certainly not the pressurization. It is the tires rolling on the runway. The pitch gets higher because you are going faster over the grooves

    The person who posted this video seems to have great knowledge of the ERJ-145 aircraft. I've flown on many of these, I flew on one non-stop (American eagle Airlines) a couple years ago from Miami, Florida to Indianapolis, Indiana. Just flew on another of these aircraft last week. Always had a good experience flying on the ERJ-145 !

    Excellent video. I wonder if the pilot throttled back in response to the oil pressure indication, or if s/he noticed that six seconds into the roll they didn't have takeoff power yet.
    I would not find it disconcerting to be back aboard the same aircraft. Aircraft maintenance is highly-evolved and a fully-certified engine tech is as well-trained as a physician.The flight attendant's comments "we added some oil" was rather unprofessional even if it was true. Passengers do not need to know that.

    When you're in your car and you break down, the mechanic fixes it and without hesitation, you get back in it and drive it around again, not afraid to do so; airplanes are the same thing. these mechanics are good and know what they're doing. as they fix something they have to use a manual as they do the work.-Regional airline pilot and airplane mechanic

    The only bad part was during th efirst takeoff when the electrical interference from a video camera next to the engine caused the fuel pressure sender to malfunction....

    Excellent video. I expected just a video about an aborted take-off. Instead I got a video of an aborted takeoff, a video of them servicing the plane, and some very interesting information about the ERJ145. Hehe this reminds me of when I was on a small regional prop job and in the middle of the flight the maintenance panel on the right engine started falling off. The rivets were popping off and everything. Not very settling. The looks on the pilots faces when I told them was even scarier.

    Another cool thing about this video is that it's at LGA. Because of the shorter runways, they pilots use near full power on takeoff, whereas at other airports they use reduced power.. Also less braking distance. Anyway, very cool

    That maximum thrust setting you noted is called CON (maximum CONtinuous) which is never used on a takeoff or inflight unless absolutely necessary (for whatever reason... ). There are two settings for takeoff, T/O-1 which is the max takeoff thrust as calculated by the FMS, and ALT T/O-1 which is a derated thrust setting. Those two are used most commonly on takeoff... not CON.

    The low to high-pitched sound on the roll I believe you're referring to is not pressurization (the aircraft doesn't need to be pressurized until it's at altitude) but instead the sound of the tires against the grooved surface of the runway as it accelerates. This is why you don't hear it after you're airborne. I have heard this on Cessna 172s and they're definitely not pressurized.

    Nice video. Personally I really like those planes. It's the seating arrangement and comfort, makes you think you're in your own private jet! Sadly nearly all domestic flights here in the UK/Europe are 737s.

    @seatgurus It depends entirely on takeoff weights and aircraft performance. If the flight is heavy, the pilot will spool the engines to takeoff power before releasing the brakes for best takeoff performance. Rolling takeoffs have a weight penalty that must be applied and are fine when the takeoff weight is much lower than MTOW. At lower takeoff weights, takeoff performance can still be achieved on the roll with a shorter runway requirement.

    @seatgurus I am only qualified in a 172 Skyhawk, a light piston single. If I saw low oil press I'd monitor oil temp and return to the field without delay. If the oil temp is rising as pressure is falling I'd throttle back and declare an emergency.
    Transport category aircraft are in a different class altogether and I have no training or expertise. My guess is that they would establish a positive rate then declare an emergency. In any event the first rule is always control the aircraft first.

    Nobody has ever died in this airplane. The crash you mentioned was caused by ATC error and Pilot Error. The Embraer Legacy was working perfectly. There wasn't any malfunctioning.

    @seatgurus As a pilt myself I will answer this one for you. If the indicator came on and the aircraft was well above V1 (The speed in which an aircraft must take off) then the engine would probably be shut down and the aircraft would return to the airport safely.

    The rejected take off is sort of like a race... You charge along the runway and at the first sign of danger, the pilot would stop the plane. Hopefully you understand what I mean! XD

    Yes but it still is pretty difficult. If your engine fails the second after V1 that could be scary. I got a little annoyed with all the sim time I had to do for that.

    Rear mounted jets, from the Caravelle onwards, were mostly made that way to allow a more efficient wing for better lift. The downside was heavier structure in the tail section and increased bending moment on wing when loaded, meaning heavier structure again. Did you just feel "engines belong on the wings", or have any other reason for not liking rear-mounting?

    @seatgurus well, at V2 the aircraft is safe to climb with 1 engine, then when the oil pressure came down, they would circle, probably fuel dump then land asap. nothing the pilots would find hard due to training. theres more chance of being struck by lightning than dying on an modern day commercial airliner, more boeing and airbus tho.

    I think what happend is that it was low on oil. when they powered up the oil level dropped and they aborted the T/O run. or they lost a pressure sensor.

    We had an aborted take off at my job today!!! Luckily it was a similar occurrence and after a couple of hours sitting at the gate getting maintenance he was able to take off. It caused a lot of headaches having to reroute some of the passengers to new flights and wondering which bags had to stay on and which go to another flight but that's much better then dealing with the alternative.... Thank God for fail safes :P

    I dislike the Embraer ERJ145. I did ramp services for AeroMexico and the RJ was the worst. The baggage compartment didn't allow for large items and made it difficult to pack. Plus the lavatory only uses "blue juice" which was a pain to put in. (maybe our comp. didn't have the right working equip.) Anyway, the 145s always have a problem. We took a 3 hour delay because our engine had a hole in it's duct work. Took some time to repair. I'm 6'3". I don't fit on the RJ. Pain to clean up.

    @lowew79 So the flight attendant and other passengers can see if an exit is blocked with debris and/or fire in the case of an emergency evac during the takeoff.

    I once got to an aircraft which was parked at a remote stand, got off the bus and saw some men doing something in one of the engines. They all disappeared and we took off no problems.
    If the pilot is happy to get on that plane and fly it knowing that they will have to deal with any issues that go wrong, I don't think there's anything to worry about.

    I had a similar experience in SAV not to long ago and, though it was inconvenient, I would FAR rather wait an hour and a half and miss my connecting flight and have to stay the night in Chicago than fly in a plane which doesn't have it's hydraulics properly filled.
