- Forget nonsense like "buy her flowers" or other trivialities. Paul Friedman shares what your wife really wants and what will really make her happy.
There's a simple answer to this and then I want to get into a little bit of philosophy so you have a deeper understanding and not just left with a shallow. Here's what you do and the simple is treat her the way you did when you were dating her, when you were courting her. Now almost every man will say, "Hey man, that's different. I was trying to win her." That's exactly right. You are trying to win her and it made her happy.
What are some of the things that you did when you were courting her and when you are dating her?
Let's compare that to things that you're not doing now so let's start with complimenting her. I don't know any man who didn't compliment their girlfriends when they were trying to get them to marry them. Complimenting is a big part of courting; it's what you do.
When was the last time you complimented your wife?
Let's talk about smiling at them. Smiling when they say something interesting, smiling when they say something funny, smiling when they're telling you a story that you're totally not interested in but you smile sincerely as you were interested in it. Now you don't "pretend" so now you have to change it. Now you have to be interested and smile again. So now you've got two things: complement, smile, listening. You are a great listener back when you were courting your wife, when you are dating your wife even if you're only responses were "Uh-huh, uh-huh, yeah, I hear you" and you were thinking about something else. You were listening, you were paying attention so men and women are very different.
Men don't need anybody to listen to them. Men can talk to the dog, men can talk to a plant, men can talk to the TV. Women need to be heard -- it's just how we're built. Well, why wouldn't you provide that if you love your wife and I assume you do or you wouldn't want to make or happy again. Start listening. In fact that'll benefit you quite a bit if you listen because you'll start to see something that you don't have this connection to their heart oftentimes it's disguised as emotions but a lot of what a woman is to us men is this, well of love, heart, soul. Men because of how nature designed, we don't have ready access to our hearts so listening is good so you need to listen more.
Now, what else can you do? Are you starting to work with me on this? How about getting in touch with them during the day?
Letting them know that you love them. When was the last time you said to your wife something like I would protect you against a grizzly bear and 17 wolves and I'd win because I love you so much? When was the last time you said anything like that to your wife? When was the last time you let her know that you are there to protect her?

WAYS TO MAKE YOUR WIFE HAPPY AGAIN
1. Treat her the way you did when you where dating her.
2. Compliment her
3. Smile
4. Listen to her
5. Get in touch with her during the day. Tel her that you love her. Let her know that you are there to protect her.
6. Anticipate her needs.
7. Stop doing what is not expressing love to her. -> Like bitching her, complain to her, send her on errands.
I wish somebody would have told me that last part when I got married because I seem to have screwed that up along the way hopefully it's not too late. I didn't realize how detrimental complaining was to my wife but I know now and I have changed my ways

My father in law doesnt think before he speaks. So I had to speak ill about my father in law to my wife. Tho she sometimes agrees, i can see the mild uncomfortability on her face.
