By the time you read this (if you do), it'll be too late. But a little tip for the gaps: Grab a gallon-sized ziplock bag, and cut a small bit out of one of the corners. Fill the bag with mud. Use it to squeeze a controlled amount of mud into the gap, then smooth it with a knife. (Sort of like a homemade caulk gun).

They will show up as shadows and you will have to put another coat of mud on them . If you don’t fix them properly they will definitely show up at night after you paint the walls and you will be pissed !

After watching the storm parts, and having a self installed hybrid solar system myself, it would probably be a good idea if you guys installed a couple lightning rods on the roof of your house, and installed one or two dedicated grounding rods for the lightning rods, since lightning wants to get to the ground and your roof is high, it will make a safe way to surge any possible close lightning strikes away from anything important (like your solar system) and distribute it safely to the ground.

Seams will need a broader surface area to blend in with a long run of a wall. I used the mesh tape when I did mine. That allowed me to do it all in two separate steps, tape and then smear on the mud. Also I thought there is a tool for inside corners. The screws will need more cover as well. A tendency is to modestly use the mud but that is not how it works.

As a 63 yr old gal who has grown up in “Tornado Alley” and experienced countless tornadoes, there has been a nagging feeling of dread for you since you began your homesteading journey. I know parts of TX are in the alley as well, and I have been so worried for your safety if one of those unpredictable monsters decides to swoop down. Also knowing you were from FL & probably not used to tornadoes has made me even more worried for you. Unless you’ve lived through a tornado, you really can’t understand how terrifying and destructive they are. Hearing you mention a storm shelter finally the eased my mind, heart, and tummy. Watching you build your dream home, feeling the love you have for each other & Beau, experiencing your tremendous inner strength, and laughing at your infectious sense of humor has made me love you like one of my own children. I (and all of us who love you) would be devastated if you were forced to endure a tornado unprepared and unprotected. So, do me a favor and please consider moving that storm shelter project to the top of your “to do list.” Honestly, it’s pretty miraculous you haven’t faced one already. P.S. Please don’t think I’m la “Debbie Downer,” trying to rain on your parade! Having lived in this sketchy weather area all of my life has made me far more cautious and concerned! BTW....Drywalling A+!

They call this process plastering from our side of the world. I'm glad you guys decided to still do it despite the comments suggesting not to. It makes so much difference and you guys are doing a great job.

You guys always blow me away with your willingness to do things you've never done before. You're amazing. There's something more than a house being built here. It's your home that you made for your family. It doesn't get any better than that.

Good for you guys! I’m a house painter by trade, so we always get tricked into doing larger drywall repairs than we’d typically like to do. It IS an art form that I’ve never quite grasped. Looks like you’re off to a good start! Love from Vancouver, Canada 🇨🇦.
