The desert is so nice when it's cold. I watch you and Mixup98 and the scenery is worth it alone. I bet that seems crazy to you, seeing it everyday. I've got snow, pine trees, more snow. It's pretty but 7 months of snow gets annoying. Edit, dang that's nice shootin Pete!
Thanks M E! The desert does have a certain beauty that a lot of people don't recognize. Also, much more wildlife then you might think! I get out to other parts of the country where things are green and grew up 20 miles from the Central Coast beaches but have really developed an appreciation for the desert... when it's not 110F plus Lol! I know exactly where Mixup98 shoots as I have ridden my dirt bikes thru that area many times but make it a point to avoid his turf especially if I hear gunfire! Lol! Thanks for watching!
Thank you for this video. This is the first time I've heard anyone talk about "being on paper" when you're first trying to sight-in your rife. You need to know where your first shot-group is in relation to your intended bullseye to BEGIN to make windage and elevation adjustments. I have a (new) Burris FastFire Red Dot Reflex sight and, shooting from just 10 yards away, my 5-shot shot group didn't even bother to show up on my target. Pretty embarrassing! - or not?
I've blown up a couple of target stands by not starting close up! Lol! You can get very close at distance by starting at 10 yards knowing where it's supposed to hit. 55 grain at 3200 fps at 10 yards should hit approximately 1.9" low from point of aim. This usually gets me in the ball park. Then I will verify at 50 yards if doing a zero at that distance. If I'm feeling froggy I'll also verify at 200 but if I'm on at 50 the 200 is usually good as well. Maybe the Burris employee was having a bad day and cranked all the adjustments before it went in the box? Lol! Thanks for watching and commenting!
@@peteregger7928 , thank you. I had been shooting - and doing very well - at 25 yds with the Burris RT-6 scope. Then I said, "Okay, now I'll try the FastFire Red Dot sight!" (at 25 yds).
@@Gravitys-NOT-a-force Wasn't sure what to expect with the RT-6 but I was very surprised at its' performance for such a decent price! Will it stand the test of time? I have no idea but then there's the Burris forever warranty.
Still catching up on your videos. Interested in this model or comparable in price. Good test, now you know that Burris is torture tested and desert battle proven.
For the money I don't think they are to bad! Burris and Steiner are both owned by Beretta Holdings so the "Forever Warranty" may stand the test of time! Hopefully won't ever need to find out. I ended up buying another one after this video Lol!
Thanks Dan! I used a jewelers file to smooth out the gouge and I did have some Birchwood Casey Aluminum Black laying around. It worked out great as you were saying and now passes the 1 foot test! Lol! Isn't noticeable unless you're looking for it... damn it! I have never dropped a weapon or allowed one to fall before... first time for everything I suppose!
Can I say one thing? I heard this a while back: "If it's going to happen, it's going to happen to me!" Sound familiar? Just like the first scratch you get on your car (or truck!) the first scratch is the one that hurts the most! You've gotten it out of the way...it's behind you...! While I might use a Burris scope for a backup, I don't consider them high enough quality to be on one of my "go to" guns! When the chips are down, I will grab the highest quality, most dependable rifle I own! I'm certain that in a similar circumstance you may do the same! For plinking, sure...Burris works well, but for serious circumstances I know it most likely would NOT be the first one you grad! And no, you didn't say that it was one you'd typically pick. I'm just off on a tangent, perhaps! So far, I haven't seen you shooting at any big distances...when you going to be trying some 200 yd. shots? Gotta be checked sometime! I'm guessing you'll perhaps get better groups if you can locate some better ammo. Winchester White Box is not known for high accuracy! Alanna
Yes! I predicted it didn't I... Nostradamus I am! Ha! Ha! When things warm up a little I'll be breaking out the good stuff and getting out to some distance. The Burris is surprisingly good at it's most affordable price point but I do have much better optics! The problem with some of the high end stuff is being afraid to use it! Lol! If that would have happened to one of my pricey Leupold's it would have possibly affected my will to live! Thanks for watching Alanna!
I've used it a few more times since this video. No issues so far! Yes, still happy with it and I think a great value at its price point. I have since bought a second one. Burris has a "Forever Warranty" if something does go sideways.
Hey, great video! I'll be visiting my parents in Vegas pretty soon. Mind giving me coordinates to your shooting spot? I have no clue where to go dessert shooting. Tia
Take the Cold Creek exit off the 95 headed North out of Vegas. Head West past the State Prisons. Entrance is on your right about 7 miles. Thanks for watching!
@@peteregger7928 You're a good sport Sir. Just picked up an RT-6 myself. Thanks for the eval. I'm glad I didn't get the Strike Eagle after all! I've had good luck with Burris over the years.
I love mine, it’s the best there is no, but for the money it’s the best option and the reticle is awesome and she is bright . I don’t even crank mine up all the way , don’t need too!
Great video. Glad you keep the film rolling and turned it into a drop rifle/ scope video. Very smart. Thanks for sharing
Thanks! Annoyed with myself at the time but will always keep things honest!

HOw much difference is there between this Burris and one twice as expensive?
How’s the scope working so far? Are you happy with it? I’m thinking maybe to buy one but have hard time to decide.
