- For a more budget friendly optic I think the Burris RT-6 isn't to bad! Long term reliability and longevity is yet to be determined. If it falls apart some day we'll see how "Forever Warranty" and "No Questions Asked" works out. Forgot to mention it in the video but parallax seems to be set at 100 yards. It's not mentioned in the owners manual either.
Quality overview - Appreciate this channel
Thanks!
Hey Peter. Good morning from sunny FL. I’ve found your channel last night as I was looking at different LPVO’s. I’ve got a Primary Arms 1x6 ACSS (Chineseium) and while I like the reticle set up and it’s easy to understand and use I question the quality now that it’s aging. I have an older Burris 1x4 as well. You’ve a nice collection of AR platform rifles there. I’m looking at doing some builds in the days ahead with an eye toward DMR level accuracy. Really enjoyed your review and found it informative. Side note I retired 3 years ago from a 35 year long career as in over the road driving. Class A CDL. I got through Las Vegas more than a few times as well as Sparks and Reno in route to the Peoples Republic of California. The desert has a beauty all it’s own that some people miss. Be safe my friend. New follower here. I’m out. 👍
Thanks for the great comments! I will do a follow up at some point especially if anything goes sideways! 35 years is an accomplishment! The desert does grow on you after awhile! Thanks again for watching!
Just ordered one from the place you got yours from. Even with 25.95 for insured shipping it was still 100 dollars cheaper than I would have paid with Amazon prime.
He has the best price I could find. I think for the money the Burris is pretty good and they have that "Forever Warranty". Thanks for watching!
@@chadrides914 you're*
To remove the battery cap, I use a watch case opener. Picked up the tool at Harbor Freight for $7. Really simple way to change the battery
I'll look into that! Thanks!
Nice Pete Seems Like The Burris Will Hold Up Good 😊😀😊👍🏼 I Love Palmetto State Armory Too Also Have a Windham Weaponry M4 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼 Love Them 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼
Thanks Chris! I was wondering when I bought the first Burris RT-6 if it was going to be worth it even at $268.00. It's surprisingly good! How well will it hold up I don't know but it does have a forever warranty! My Palmetto's have also been surprisingly good where accuracy is concerned. Much better then I thought they would be! Hard to go wrong with a Windham too! Thanks for commenting and watching!
I love your kitchen, maybe the true American Chef's kitchen, lol. Bravo
The only thing that usually gets cooked by me comes out of a can! Lol! I know you meant the carbines! Thanks again for watching!
Wow I did not know Burris scopes were being made in the Philippines. I put burris scopes up there with Leopold scopes. And it’s hard to compare against German optics. I’m surprised Nikon scopes are equal to Burris. Thanks for sharing young man.
Some of the Burris product line is being made here in the U.S. now! Probably still a lot of "Global" parts but maybe things are headed in the right direction. I grew up in an America where virtually everything was made here and other than maybe the automotive industry things were made to last. Everything now seems to be made somewhere else and for the most part is disposable junk! Want to make the planet "Greener"... stop making crap! Okay! Rant over! Lol! Thanks for watching Brant!
@@peteregger7928 I understand. I worked for GM for 30 years 1988-2017 and there all most all made overseas. Thanks again for sharing my friend.
…. Man the worst part is trying to put optics on everything…. I have two rifles without optics now as i try to save up. I have an AR10 in .308 and a 16” 5.56 gun that both need optics. I really wanna put a nicer optic on the .308 I’m thinking maybe 500-700 is what I’ll wanna spend.
Off subject but are those the magpul stocks with the friction lock on the buffer tube? Does it take all the wobble out?
Two versions. Standard SL and the SL-K. The SL-K is minimalist but will accept a QD socket. The SL dimensions are a little larger but the same design with built in QD's. They both are snug on all of my rifles. Can't remember if they come in both commercial spec and Mil-Spec. I think the SL-K is Mil-Spec only or they were when I bought them? I like the design of these because the unlocking mechanism is up by the tube and not exposed like a standard M-4 butt stock. Thanks for watching!
@@peteregger7928 i have a few B5 systems stocks cause they were on sale and there is a good amount of slop on vltor buffer tubes.Maybe I’ll try out a magpul stock after i sbr one of my pistols.
The amount of money just in scope mounts in this video is ridiculous 😂😂😂. Also i made the mistake once laying my rifle on a white blanket, my old lady almost killed me.
@@itsamk18-ish Magpul's are tough! I've seen a few destructive videos where they were being motared so hard that the buffer tube holes tore out before the butt stock completely failed. I make it a point to try and do my videos while the wife is out for a good long while! White blanket! Ha! Ha! My firearms are usually dripping in oil!
@@peteregger7928 yeah i think I’ve seen a few of those videos, I’ll give one a try!
Yeah i messed up and laid a rifle down with the dust cover open and it left a big spot on the blanket. I immediately got online and ordered a new blanket 😂.
Hi, I just got mine but I can't turn the magnification ring at all it's like locked
That is very odd!
Hello sir. May I ask you respectfully if you have figured out why the 400 and 500 hashes are bigger than the 300? I asked Burris, and they said the men who designed it no longer work there.
Normally, BIG - little on the tree
It's a little confusing but the 400 and 500 subtend 18" wide for distance ranging but the 300 does not. The center dot is your zero at 100 yards. The top of the vertical stanchion is a BDC for 200 yards/.32 MILS/1.1MOA. The first horizontal hash is a 300 yard BDC .96 MILS/3.3MOA. The second horizontal hash is 400 yard BDC 1.77 MILS/6.1MOA but also subtends 18" wide for ranging. The third horizontal is a 500 yard BDC 2.76 MILS/9.5MOA and its width also subtends 18" for ranging. The bottom of the vertical stanchion is a 600 yard BDC 3.96 MILS/13.6 MOA. The BDC functions were primarily designed for .223/5.56 although the handbook doesn't mention velocity or bullet weight. This also works roughly the same for 308/7.62 NATO. The reticle appears simplistic but it does a crap load! We just scratched the surface here! Hope this helps!
Thanks for the review and comparison of this scope.
If you had to chose between the burris and the Steiner for one build, which would you go with?
thanks
The Steiner is much better overall! They are now going for over $750 though and I saw some listed recently close to $900. As good as they are there is no way I would pay that much for the Steiner. When I purchased mine they were under $500 and it wasn't that long ago. Can't say how well the Burris will hold up long term but it does have the "Forever Warranty" and I don't think Burris is going anywhere anytime soon. The Steiner is only a 4x where the Burris is a 6x. Steiner glass on both of mine is exceptional but the Burris performs well at it's more affordable price point. I would probably just go with the Burris until the Steiner comes back down in price if they ever do. You could always upgrade at a later date but I think you might be surprised how well the Burris does... well the two I have anyway.
@@peteregger7928 the price for the Steiner is pretty steep. I think I might give the burris a try.
Thanks for the info and reply.
Much thanks. Good to know they aren't chineze.
It still matters to me! Thanks for watching!
Good prices on that site!
He had some mixed reviews when I ordered from him the first time but I noticed out of about 5 negative that the broken English was the same and the same misspelled words on three of them so I figured it was the same person doing it using different user names. I've ordered from him 3 times now and haven't had any issues. His prices are very hard to beat. Thanks for watching!
This is a PS to the 2 previous posts. Just learned you’re former US Navy AM. You served just 4 years behind me. Did you do A school at NAS Memphis? My last duty station was NAS Jacksonville. Well anyway it’s good to know that you’re former Navy. Be safe shipmate. ‘Fair winds and following seas’. I’m out.
Just saw your comment! RUclips notifications don't always work! I was at Memphis twice. ADJ school and then got out after 5 years! Went back in after a couple of years and changed my rate to AT so back to Memphis I went! Couldn't figure out if I liked the Navy or was just trying to like it so I retired after 21 years! Lol!
If the scope parallax is 100 yards does that mean I will have issues if I try to zero closer than 100 yards?
I don't think you will have much of a problem zeroing at 50 yards with more than an ideal amount parallax. I guess having an adjustable objective or side focus is something that was compromised when most manufacturers designed the LPVO concept using 1X. I can't think of any LPVO's that have an adjustable parallax like a side focus or objective. They're usually fixed at 50 or 100 yards and I'm not positive but I think 100 yards is the most common. Steiner P4Xi is 50. Thanks for watching!
I cant believe the glass isn't Chinese glass at this price. Wow. How would this compare to a vortex viper pst in clarity?
I was surprised at how good they are at the price point! If they don't hold up there's the "Forever Warranty"! Lol! Don't own anything Vortex to compare against. Thanks for watching!
What scope mount did you use for your AR ? Ty
American Defense AD-RECON-30-STD Model 1301. 2" offset, ring centerline height 1.472".
@@peteregger7928 thank you !! Stay safe in this crazy world!!
That the sight is not made in China is worth a lot.
I feel the same way! Thanks for watching and commenting!
Bass pro shop with pepr mount
Just took a look! That's a good price!
@Peter Egger I like it. The only thing I don't like is the eye relief changes from 1 to 6 in my opinion. Either that or my eyes don't adjust well don't know
@@brandonfranklin3023 All of my scopes do that but I've never really noticed if it's more pronounced with the RT6. I'll have to pay more attention to it next time I have it out.
If you do a follow up on that RT6 down the road it’ll be interesting to see how it “ages”. Take care. I’m out.
