    As someone who loves this ride I totally agree that purely from a positive G perspective, the first turn is the only spot where I really felt sustained positive G’s. I just love how much you feel the speed and how the elements aren’t drawn out. I also like how you found it in your heart to acknowledge how a ride can be overrated but still good, since most people think overrated means you hate the ride. Also idk what crack you smoked to think this ride’s first turn wasn’t as intense as Millie’s, but I’d love to try it sometime.

      @M-NL2  2 года назад

      Idk what I'm smoking either but I definitely grayed out on Millie's drop/first turn more than I did on I305 lol. Either way, I305 is overall a good coaster, and yeah I try my best to clear the misconception that overrated = bad cuz that's not true. Also can't wait to try Fury 325 :0

      @@M-NL2 ngl the first time I ever rode Fury was in the back row, and I hit the brakes and thought to myself “are you kidding? THAT was the best steel coaster in the world? My a**.” And every single ride after that I have liked it more and more until now where it’s comfortably in my top 10. In other words, just ride it a loooooot and you’ll see the hype 🤪 (I only say that cause as you experienced with i305, too much hype can be very dangerous)

      I have heard great things about Millie’s start, and that leads me to believe that it would be better than Fury’s first turn, which although snappy, is pretty forceless. My overall thoughts on Fury are similar to yours on I-305; the forces are ok, but the two front row night rides I got on it are the only reason it’s in my top 10.

    As someone who visits KD regularly, I can say that this ride is not a constant gray-out like some would say. However, I find it to be much more intense than you describe it. The first drop gives me great ejector in the back. The first turn is the only coaster moment that consistently makes me gray-out. The twisted hill after the Camelback is actually one of my favorite parts of the ride, I always get an amazing airtime lateral combo on that element. The snaps in the middle are obviously highlights, and while not as intense as the first turn, the other turns and valleys before the trimmed hill give great sustained positives for me. Idk, when I'm literally struggling to keep my arms up on a coaster I think it's putting some kind of force on my body. The trimmed hill does slow the ride down, but it still gives good floater for me. I actually find that last Snap before the on ride camera to be more intense than the previous ones. I have to brace for it when sitting on the left side. My favorite part about this ride is the pacing and sense of speed honestly. Taking all these elements at such speeds is one of a kind. Sorry for the long winded comment. I just find it weird that someone could find half this rides layout 'boring', when I find it one of the most positive g heavy rides I've ridden. Which includes rides like Skyrush, several B&M inverts, and other intense loopers.

    • @M-NL2
      @M-NL2  2 года назад +1

      I appreciate the response! Mostly because these types of descriptions were what built so much hype for the ride prior to getting on for the first time; see I'm not a huge fan of excessive positives, and so just like you described (being one of the most positive g heavy rides) it didn't seem like I would enjoy it, and so when I got on expecting excessive positives, I received only a few on the first turn and I personally didn't notice any anywhere else. Granted, I did visit Kings Dominion as part of an 8-park trip and was already 2 weeks in to riding roller coasters daily, nonstop, so I might have been very used to extreme positives by then. But on the contrary to *that*, I did ride Alpengeist the following day, and that made me gray out considerably. So idk, I'll give I305 another shot this year, but I just don't see it as being that intense lol

    Goliath at Magic Mountain was actually a bit underwhelming for me. It looks intimidating with its height and first drop stats, but the drop is too gradual (67 degrees I think 🤔) and the train actually came to a dead stop on the mid course brake run. The helix was cool but didn’t make me gray out at all. I have yet to get on any coaster or even visit any park outside California, and I305 is definitely on my bucket list. I just saw Coaster Studios’ vlog/reaction on Iron Gwazi and I’d say you’re in for a real ride there. It’s on my to-ride list as well.

    I don't know how Goliath at Magic Mountain causes you to grey-out and black-out. The G-forces are higher more sustained on Intimidator 305 at 4.5 to 4.9 Gs (information from r/RideForces). The average maximum G-force on Goliath is 4.33, and the helix hits a maximum of just over 4 Gs for a few seconds.

  • @OklahomaCoasterFan
    @OklahomaCoasterFan 2 года назад +1

    It was bound to happen eventually. I love Intimidator 305, finding only a tiny bit overrated. I think it's overall quite intense, but I also don't grey out every time. My first several rides, I didn't get even a slight grey out, and I have never completely lost my vision on any of my 70 rides. But also, Goliath & Titan don't give me even a slight grey out ever. I can still appreciate and enjoy the intensity and sustained positive Gs of these rides. Intimidator 305 does have some small pops of airtime, in addition to the noticeable hills, that most people don't even realize are there, because it's just flying through the course so fast.
    I would agree that it's not as crazy, intense as some people make it out to be, but I still found it to be intense. It's at that perfect level for me. It is my favorite giga, easily ahead of Fury 325, but I am an Intamin fanboy and not a huge B&M fan. Also, Fury night rides are illuminated quite a bit by the parking lot, while i305 is pitch black, with how it's at a far edge of the park, right up against the forest.

  • @grandjohn
    @grandjohn Год назад

    I think one of the main reasons that this ride is considered a little overrated is because the drop had to be modified and people still heard people graying out, thus making people still feel like it was very intense. This coaster wasn't that intense and that last transition was probably the best transition on the ride, idk how you think it's the weakest.

  • @andyroman8223
    @andyroman8223 Год назад

    I rode i305 last month, and thought it was definitely the most intense coaster I have ridden, but it wasn't as intense as I expected it to be. The main parts where I noticed the positive gs are the first turn, and then the turns before the first snap, and after the second snap. I have to disagree with your thoughts on the airtime though, the large camelback gave sustained ejector airtime which was better than any hill on Skyrush, the little speedhill after the camelback gave some nice sustained flojector airtime, the snaps gave two pops of ejector, and the two airtime hills in the second half gave fantastic sustained floater. The second to last snap of I305 gave some insane laterals, and it felt like the switchback hill on Skyrush, but way more abrupt and aggressive. The pop into the brake run also gives a nasty lateral and ejector airtime combo. Surprisingly, I thought that the two snaps in the first half were some of the weakest elements on the ride, but they were still very fun.

    For once I agree with you! I even gave you a like. I only start to pixelate on that first turn. I've never grayed out. In it's original version, I came close to graying out. They later re-profiled that turn. Definitely not a big fav of mine. I like many other coasters at that park more.

    I think it really all comes down to expectations. If you expected to gray/black out on the entire ride, then your expectations were way too high. I don't think any coaster could do that, little alone I305. What I did expect going into the ride was to gray out at least once, because I had legitimately never grayed out before, even after riding 99 other coasters before it, and it absolutely did provide a gray out on that first turn, and not just a subtle one either, like a pretty noticeable one. I forget exactly where on the ride but I got another lesser gray out, but it was still pretty noticeable. Later at the very end of the day before closing, I had just gotten off Twisted Timbers and wanted to ride Intimidator 305 one last time before they closed, so I yeeted myself across the park, from TT to I305 in like 5 mins, got the middle row because I hadn't done it yet, and then I had the most ridiculous gray out I had ever experienced. I didn't lose consciousness, but I could barely see anything, most of my vision was completely black with the exception of a small circle in the center of my vision about the size of my fist held at arms length. For that reason I give I305 major kudos.

    • @M-NL2
      @M-NL2  2 года назад

      That's the thing, I call it overrated because the popular opinion of I305 set my expectations really really high. Just like Steel Vengeance, everyone described it as one of the best coasters on the planet, and so when I rode it, I was expecting something close to the best coaster I've ridden, or at least the most intense coaster I've ridden. For me personally, it wasn't close to being the most intense or the best. As for greying out, I guess there's just a lot of factors to consider, such as how fast the ride is running, how hydrated you are, your blood pressure/blood sugar level, etc. I personally greyed out more on Flight Deck, Banshee, and Millennium Force more than I305.

    To be fair, they definitely slowed the ride down after the first year or two it was open. • @M-NL2
      @M-NL2  2 года назад +1

      They never slowed it down, they reprofiled the first turn to make it much wider and exert less positives. Nonetheless, that was several years ago and the majority of enthusiasts today have never ridden that version, only the way it is currently, yet still give it exceedingly high rankings

    Having ridden I-305 in July, along with seeing some recent pov’s around that time, it seems as though it is running better than ever, and each hill somehow gave good flojector airtime. I don’t know how it was running previously but it was probably an improvement over what it used to be. This one of very few coasters where I consistently grey out, but expecting to black out is a little too much. I would absolutely agree that there are coasters out there that do a better job at pure intensity, but the greater variety of forces and the speed of I-305 is what puts it as my #2 overall and #1 steel.
