It's obvious the length of the bed is fine for what seemingly most Maverick owner's needs are. Personally, if they offered a small cab longer bed option like they do with the Ranger(2 bed length options)and F-150(3 bed length options), this truck would be perfect. Don't need a mid or full size truck and not going to load really heavy things in it. More so, having a 6' bed for longer items with the tailgate closed or a "sleepable" space with a camper shell would be ideal for my needs. The good mpg this truck offers with a 6' bed would be a win win for so many of us solo drivers who'll never need 2nd row seating. Glad you had help loading the bike with the weight involved. Good segment. Thankyou for sharing.
Kinda hilarious this came up for me. I'm considering a Maverick and was at a dealership this week with a tape measure and my V-Strom 800DE. My wheel base is 0.4" longer than the 650, but with the 21" front tire it'll be tighter. That said, the measuring tape work made me 99% confident it will fit.
Tailgate can only hold 400lbs, probably need some reinforcement chains. Im just researching this truck vs a Ridgeline. I own a old Ridgeline but would like to upgrade. Maverick is only 30 inch bed height from ground to the Ridgelines 35 but the Ridgeline has a 5.3 bed vs the Mavericks 4.5. Thanks for the vid.
Got the same Combo Blue Maverick Red VStrom 650 Haven’t tried to put it in the bed. Concern has been the weight on the tailgate … how do I re-enforce the tailgate to hold the weight In acceleration all the weight will transfer and …. Did you ever take that long trip across the US? Let us know how that went Thanks
Hah, that's awesome! Don't accelerate too hard and I think you'll be just fine. Some people install stronger cables, but I wouldn't be too concerned. However, a trailer is probably easier if you are regularly transporting. We didn't end up taking the Strom in the bed as we needed that area for cargo. Ended up selling the bike in Michigan, but I do miss it. Good luck!
Welp. That checked this truck off my list. That looks terrible and I wouldn't load anything but a dirtbike in the back of that. You're just asking for issues on longer trips.

Did you end up trying it?
@@DailyMotor I ended up getting a Jeep Gladiator.....
My scout had almost the same wheelbase so this is perfect to see if I could get away with this.
Did this mess up the tailgate or did you try it?

Would you recommend the hybrid or ice for motorcycle transport?
I’ve got the iCE I’ve gotten as much as 41
Mpg on highway
Average 26 around town and 32 hwy I drive fast on the freeway
Great content! But would love to see you load the motorcycle with wheel choke to see if it would fit.
