      Welcome to the fam! Yes combos are are easier to do, especially those requiring circular motion like 360 or double QCF because of the octagonal restrictor gate, and the pivot became way more smoother because of the Otto V5 mod.

      @smaaashtv  Год назад +2

      Thanks man, I appreciate it. I was skeptical at first with the OTTO v5, especially because of the total cost of the mods including the steel core, thinking that the Hayabusa pivot is already smoother than sanwas (at least imho).
      To my surprise, the otto mod with the steel core really is that much smoother - I can barely feel friction in the pivot. And with the wider actuators and octagate, it gave me that short throw that I was looking for. It’s so much easier now to do 720s and double QCFs, compared to riding the square gate with the stock hayabusa. Also so much quieter 😊

    Outstanding video! I got this stick on its way in a couple days, can’t wait to start using some of your mod ideas! Quick question, the 8 way restrict or gate you used, how has its performance been? I’ve seen threads saying that sanwa 8gates don’t fit hyabusa sticks well. Just wanted to see if you’ve had any issues, if not I’d like to try one out! I’ve got an Obsidian and cancelling Blankas level 3 super from a Blanka ball has proved problematic for me on player one side, I’d like to see if adding the 8 gate will help improve my execution.

    • @smaaashtv
      @smaaashtv  11 месяцев назад +1

      Thanks fam! Glad you liked the video.
      I used the sanwa 8-way gate because it was compatible with the OTTO DIY v5 mod. If you're planning to use the stock hayabusa lever, you can get a Kowal Hayabusa 8-way gate from FocusAttack.com
      As for using the 8-way gate, as I main Zangief it's really good for circular motions and QCF or double QCF. But as I started playing charge characters (Guile & Honda); I notice that I've been having a hard time properly hitting corner directional inputs with it (especially with bigger sized actuators). So right now, instead of reverting back to the square gate, I'm experimenting with the OTTO DIY with the included rounded square gate and the 12mm actuators -- so far I find it as the perfect balance with my grip without needing to change gates between different characters I play.
      What I realized with the 8-way gate is that if you ride your lever against it when you do motion inputs, this will work best for you. But if you have a light grip and have more control and do not ride the gate too much, then something more open like the square gate (or rounded square ones) will give you more freedom with your movement.
      Hope this helps.

      @@smaaashtv bro thank you so much for the reply this information is amazing and I’m definitely going to try out your recommendations. I’ve been a Blanka main for years, and on my obsidian I have no issues doing a super that’s b,f,b,f+p (I play super street fighter 2x on fightcade a good bit). But man since they changed his super to qcf,qcf+p trying to do that super isn’t a problem except for cancelling from his Blanka ball. And what’s super annoying Is I only have the problem with execution from player one side, player 2 side has no issues for me!

    • @smaaashtv
      @smaaashtv  11 месяцев назад

      Yeah I get you bro, I was quite taken aback when I found out that honda’s hundred handslap is a motion input now. But I guess it’s just a matter of adjustment. I suggest you try out different setups for your fightstck till you find one you’re most comfortable with.

    Hi, may i ask how did you create your artwork and the printing of it? I just changed the whole button to Sanwa and the lever from Hayabusa to Sanwa JLX. The feel is very different from Hayabusa!

    • @smaaashtv
      @smaaashtv  8 дней назад

      I gotchu fam! I created the artwork using PSD template from focusattack.com ( focusattack.com/artwork-print-and-cut-for-hori-fightstick-alpha-read-description/ ) - then created the artwork in photoshop (you can use open source software like GIMP) then went to a print shop and had it printed in A3 artcard (or you could have it printed with FA).
      Yup, sanwas feel different form hayabusa buttons and lever, I suggest you experiment with other brands as well and don't eb afraid to mix and match so you can find your 'sweet spot'.

      You’ve done a really nice job with it, the artwork and buttons 👌
      Got a few questions if that’s ok?
      I’ve got the Hori Alpha too and find the range of motion/travel on the stick to be a little too much. Would installing the v5 reduce the range at all?? I prefer the 4 way gate so wouldn’t want to change this but wondering if there’s a better 4 way gate for the Hayabusa? Or would I be better off swapping the stick to something else?

    • @smaaashtv
      @smaaashtv  9 месяцев назад +1

      I think the v5 itself doesn't change the range of motion at all, what the v5 has are extra sets of thicker actuators that can shorten the lever throw - if that's what you're looking for (although most other levers do offer bigger actuators as well, you can buy them off from FA or AS). As for the octa gate, I've actually returned to using the rounded square gate of the v5, It's easier for me to hit the corners and I'm so used to it from playing a lot of tekken. Hope this helps. Cheers!

  • @NekMinuteG

    I’m going to get the street fighter edition, literally only because of the sides that have purple and the street fighter logo, and I’ll switch the art work to something not involving anime or fighting game characters
    Also how would you compare the buttons to sanwa or seimitsu?

    • @smaaashtv
      @smaaashtv  24 дня назад

      I actually wanted the SF version as well, it's just that I can't justify the extra ~$150 in cost just for the SF branding - but yeah, the purple accents are lit.
      Button preferences is very subjective; I personally don't like how Sanwas feel too 'deep' and require more actuation force compared to hayabusas or gamerfingers, as for seimitsu I just don't like how loud they are. At the moment, I'm exclusively using either gamerfingers or qanba gravity ks for my fightsticks.
      Hope this helps.

      Fundamentally players don’t need the extra 2 buttons; but it’ll be a waste to not use shortcut buttons that are already part of the system. Case in point; pro Japanese players using sticks with the drive parry shortcut button placed below LK so it’s easily accessible by the thumb. It’s just way too optimal to not use because you can’t buffer button presses in SF6 like in TK7.

    • @smaaashtv
      @smaaashtv  Год назад +3

      While I do agree that the hayabusa lever is loose compared to sanwas, I do believe there are players who prefer the lesser tension (especially for 2D fighters). This can be easily adjusted by switching to higher tension springs - I do wish though that Hori would offer a similar modding kit like the JLF pro. It would be nice to have more options for the hayabusa.
      As for the buttons, I actually prefer the hayabusa’s lower actuation force and short throw, since I’m light with my presses and can rest my fingers on them without accidental inputs. Although they are really loud for night gaming, that’s why I use GFs and Qanba Gravity KSs.
      I’ve also tried the RAP N before, I’m not sure why, but even though it has the same layout as the Alpha - I wasn’t comfortable with it. Though didn’t Angry Bird FGC won the SF6 EVO using that stick?
