I just retired a ps3 te. It had a ps3/ps4/ pc zero delay board but sf6 reads the joystick upside down and its just time to upgrade. Went with mayflash 500 for $90 cuz i have big hands.
@@fony09 he recommends mayflash, he reviewed the f300 in previous videos. the f500 is $90 and i can upgrade to sanwa later vs this is $200. you dont need fancy bells and whistles to kick somebodys ass in kof and sf6 :)
This is one of the best guides out there. For me as someone new to these games. I’m lagging to choose. My options are, 1) Hori Alpha from Amazon(international shipping for free), $179USD. 2) Quanba obsidian 2 from local shop, about $169USD 3) Quanba drone 2 for $70.41USD . Also planning to use sanwa custom silent lever, switches. Wether whatever I buy. Hori option for artistic customization is my taste. Though Quanba obsidian seems to be the pro’s pick. Hori neutral sized, Quanba too big. Drone 2 cheap but too basic but fits me being novice. Thanks
I'm glad you posted this. I've been wanting to get a stick with a noir layout, and I was stuck deciding between the Hori RAP N and this one, as I specifically like Hori and their Hayabusa parts. This was what I needed to be sure of my decision, as I really respect and trust your knowledge and reviews. Thanks for posting this video.
For that price and that lovable design it sure is a high probabilty for getting purchased! I already have some positive experience with the RAP.N.Hayabusa in functionality but this one is not only prettier but the top screws the RAP.N has are gone and my wrists will highly appreciate that. Thank you for that great review!
This is the best arcade stick for me since you can assign directional keys on the buttons. same like the hitboxIcrossup (not available in my country). i assign left on square, right on L1, then down on both x and L2. doing electrics and JFSR is soo easy with this in tekken.
Thanks for this awesome, honest review. I actually got myself an 8BitDo Arcade Stick last week thanks to your review video. After watching this, I may have to upgrade! Lol! Will wait for your Obsidian 2 review
@@JoystickNY that's awesome to hear! Will be replacing my joystick lever and buttons to Sanwa real soon. Will be using your video as a guide. Thanks for the great content!
Great review brother. I got the X-Box equivalent of this Hori Alpha ‘stick & once I put a Sanwa JLF stick into the unit because I found the Hiyabusa stick way too loose/sensitive, while keeping the Hiyabusa buttons because I really love the more sensitive, light to the touch Hiyabusa buttons even compared too the Sanwas, it’s turned out too be a great buy for me. it’s an absolutely great stick. Loved the review.✌️
I like the idea of a detachable cable as well, but not if it is USB-C. The cable sag damaging the actual port over time is too big of a risk. I was quite interested in the Victrix, and Nacon Daija for its detachable cable, but decided against it, because it is USB-C. I agree that Hori Alphas cable storage is pretty bad, but even with that, and the wiggle room in the back when it hangs its got a better chance at a long life span than any USB-C detachable solution.
Bro always goes the extra mile to photoshop improvements to the sticks. I'm just rocking with the mayflash 300 elite but still checking bros videos out for pure entertainment.

Its crazy because i was debating between these 3 sticks at the end mentioned vs Etokki. Since Etokki is not in stock (and NO review is up to the standard of yours, if you ever do i look forward to it) I've decided on the Hori Alpha. You helped me picked my earlier stick, and now my follow up stick! If i use your affiliate link(the Amazon shop JoystickNY one) in the RUclips description to add the Hori Alpha to my Amazon cart, does that help support you? Do i need to order right away or as long as i add through the link, i can just order whenever and it still helps support you and the channel? I hope you continue to enjoy your hobby (and one day turn it into full time job) without getting too burnt out!
After watching your videos and looking up different reviews I bought this arcade stick. I was set on the Mayflash F500 Elite but I felt this hori was better suited for $50 more. The F500 elite did come with Sanwa lever and buttons though which was good. Watching your videos I felt like I was going to upgrade stuff if I got a mayflash. To me the hori alpha was a happy medium for $200 for my pc.
For $210, it just feels like cheap plastic. I really enjoy heavier sticks and this is a really light stick. It’s still a good stick as far as effectiveness though, everything functions decently. I wish they at least used sanwa buttons, because one of my buttons got stuck pressed down mid game.
I got this stick but i changed the buttons not a fan of the hayabusa buttons but was ok with a lever. Love your videos you are really good at explaining everything i will share your youtube with my fellow fighter friends.
I want to buy my first fight stick... I was trying to buy the RAP 4 back in 2019, but didn't pull the trigger and I feel so sorry now because I can't find it in Amazon anymore. I don't know what to do ): (great video btw, I love that you are back at making videos for the channel).
@@JoystickNY I was going to use mostly in pc, I don't use console at all and I saw your 8bit do video and finally pulled the trigger for that one (: (and already bought Sanwa buttons and lever to do the mod too).
I got a couple of questions I've been meaning to ask you for a while now. 1. How should hand size and shape be considered when choosing or modding a fightstick and its various parts? 2. What do you think of fightsticks being used for other game types like 2D platformers, shmups, or racing games?
I think the sanwa or most of the japanese lever size are great, it feels very natural, cuz its not too short or too long, japan is very detail about their designs, and i would trust them 2. Its great for retro games like shmup, beat them up, metal slugs and most arcade games, racing is prob better in the wheel
Happy New Year 🎆 Great video and I 💯% agree with you on having a detachable cable maybe a turbo button feature too 😝 I’m happy I got mines when it 1st released being the 1st official ps5 license stick at the time good job Hori and I still love playing on it for sf6. So cool how many options are out now. Hope all as well
Thank you, I was waiting from this review from you :D. I wish someone had a proper mod guide to find a way to make the cable detachable. I know some modded it but not many guides :(
So I went all out for sf6 and bought this stick. Even though I already have the first one. I opened the box only to get the content qrc. I got the pics printed out and I'll mod the alpha. Preserving this gem

@@john005_ Its worry me a little but like I told myself, I'm a grown man, I never break my stuff and I dont see how the cable can be so easily broken if I take care of it, for exemple my phone's wire never let me down even if I dont specially take care of it, I hope everything will be fine lol
@@john005_the cable was never an issue for me using it several months (Xbox version) . I would say it looks crap inside but its useful. Very good stick imo. ☮️
Damn, I can't believe how Qanba has 7 arcade sticks that's more expensive than this, but this one still beats them all. Qanba has the dragon, but I think the price is too high. Maybe you can review it as soon.
Cool thing that there are also special artwork to download. They also have an Xbox version(standard edition). Just recently, they’ve also announced a tekken8 version which I think is the same thing with different decal
Looks incredibly light. The way you flip it around and easily grab it by the handles makes me think it's very lightweight. I guess that can be good or bad, depending on preference. For me, I like some weight on an arcade stick since it makes it feel sturdier on my lap or whatever surface it's resting on, and also it just doesn't "feel" cheap. Of course, light can be good for traveling and constant moving around from setup to setup.
Detachable cables just introduce another break point (now you can break the cable *and* the usb port!). Very glad that there are still sticks that don't have detachable cables.
i feel you, i think there is a high chance of breaking the attached cable than the detached one, as it gets caught, it will most likely detach, just like macbook charge
just want to thank you, i finally bought my first arcade stick after watching your reviews and guides. i was initally going to buy qanba drone but i found a much better stick at practically the same price: the gamesir c2. it's the exact same arcade stick as the madcatz ego (just found out like 3 days after i got the stick lmao) and it's all sanwa. pretty happy with it. now i wonder if i want something with noir layout instead of vewlix since i realized yesterday that my way of finger placing and movement is kinda awkward on vewlix even though many people said if ring finger is longer get vewlix instead... but wrist angle is awkward for me and i prefer to put my index finger on X (or A for xbox layout) instead of square (X for xbox layout)
you got a great stick, i think it should last you a while, you can get one if you have guest over alot, other wise,i think 1 is enough, unless u want to collect more
Thank you for such a detailed review on this fighting stick, I think I will make this my first stick. Just a quick question, is there any difference between the original and the Street Fighter edition other than the design?
Hey, really loved this video and I'm actually thinking of buying this hori stick after watching this, but I have a question. Is it compatible to use on pc as well? Or is it just ps5?
Should I wait for Hori to make a more premium stick like a Fighting Edge 2 (technically 3) or is this good for a long time? I currently use a Qanba Q4RAF and its showing its age.
Do the Fighting Stick Alphas not have a DP - LS - RS switch anymore? I’m thinking of upgrading from my RAP N because Arc System Works and some smaller indie releases don’t support PS4 sticks for native PS5 versions. The Stick switch is essential! That might be enough to push me towards Qanba.
Thank you for the detailed review of the Hori Alpha. I've ordered the non-SF6 variant of the Hori Alpha for my PS5 to go alongside my Sanwa Lever/buttons modified HRAP4 Kai. I'm curious. Are you still using the Hayabusa level/buttons with the Alpha or have you modified the stick? Keep up the great work!
Not a fan of the art on it, it feels like it was slapped on instead of designed around the cutout of art area. That profile switching sounds fantastic. Those grips and easy access to opening are really great QoL features! Edit: Just got to the end of your video. Love your redesign suggestion
Hello I would love to know Wich buttons fit with no problem. Like brands and models, since the hayabusa buttons are very low profile and the sanwa buttons and the crown have larger conectors pins (I mean not larger but like more long in the total length) so I was wondering if I would had problems to close the case once inm installed other buttons and if the conectors would hit the lower part of the case. Also wanted to ask where I can find hori buttons. Thanks.
Hi JoyStickNY, I wanted to ask you a question regarding this stick. I wanted to know which of the two is effectively larger between this stick and the Nacon Daija? I'm leaning between the two, and wanted to get your opinion. Do you feel like you have enough palm space on both? Do you consider either one more comfortable than the other? Thank you for your help and thank you for all the reviews you do man. You give people so much great information.
I've had this stick since it released for the Xbox Series X, My only complaint has been the cable management... It just feels like I am going to damage a connector on the buttons every time that I try t close it and hope the cable has stayed where I placed it. I have looked into options on Modding this to accept a detachable cable but don't know if I want to risk it due to the price.
Thank you very much, it is an informative video. I am interested to know if you have any comments on the comparison in terms of build quality and feel between this one and the discontinued Madcatz TE2 plus?
Man I wish I could get this stick as a new go to stick for tournaments. Gonna stick with the RAP V for now since it's been said that it'll work with the PS5 version of SF6. Also worth mentioning is the cable for the lever. It has a 6 pin plug in case you wanna install the Optical Hayabusa Lever.
Hey there, great video! Would you say this Arcade stick is worth it when it is on sale? I saw an Xbox Version of the Hori Fighting Stick Alpha for about 120 dollars...
I have a PS5, but i live in the middle of nowhere so i have to use starlink internet. Not good internet, but for some reason my laptop and my series X handles online play better than my PS5. So i got this stick for the series X. Xbox doesnt have many options, but this stick is nice. And i'm already customizing it. When i move back to the city, i'll get a hitbox for my PS5.
Dude it’s super easy to install. You have to purchase one though. I bought mine from Focus Attack and all it took to install was unscrewing 4 screws and swapping out the gate. Hope this helps!

its a great value compare to the qanbas
Just bought this stick 2 day ago and played last night for the first time and the feeling is very good, love it so much, nice video as usual, I was waiting for your review before buying it lol, your work is amazing bro, keep it real
Hi, I am curious, does the cables situation worry you? as does it seem it could easyly break because it can move about in the middle opening?
@@john005_ Its worry me a little but like I told myself, I'm a grown man, I never break my stuff and I dont see how the cable can be so easily broken if I take care of it, for exemple my phone's wire never let me down even if I dont specially take care of it, I hope everything will be fine lol
@@john005_the cable was never an issue for me using it several months (Xbox version) . I would say it looks crap inside but its useful. Very good stick imo. ☮️
@@ninetendopesaitama2107 thank you, I wish someone showed the circuit board indept. Would you say it is easy to add another bord like brooks cable.
@@john005_ cant tell you about that. But i know hori has low lag boards and i wouldn't change the board for this reason.
Could I rewire the select/options button to L1, for instance?
Damn, I can't believe how Qanba has 7 arcade sticks that's more expensive than this, but this one still beats them all. Qanba has the dragon, but I think the price is too high. Maybe you can review it as soon.
You're a great joystick ambassador.
appreciate you, thank you
thank you for the detail!
is there a way to map this to use the right stick? for fighting games like AEW Fight forever, you need to move the right stick to get the special
Cool thing that there are also special artwork to download. They also have an Xbox version(standard edition). Just recently, they’ve also announced a tekken8 version which I think is the same thing with different decal
Excellent. Always enjoy your videos my friend.
Appreciate you ♥️
Looks incredibly light. Of course, light can be good for traveling and constant moving around from setup to setup.
its actually got a good weight to it, def dont slide around when using, its consider light for its size, but still on the heavy side
Detachable cables just introduce another break point (now you can break the cable *and* the usb port!). Very glad that there are still sticks that don't have detachable cables.
i feel you, i think there is a high chance of breaking the attached cable than the detached one, as it gets caught, it will most likely detach, just like macbook charge
just want to thank you, i finally bought my first arcade stick after watching your reviews and guides. i was initally going to buy qanba drone but i found a much better stick at practically the same price: the gamesir c2. it's the exact same arcade stick as the madcatz ego (just found out like 3 days after i got the stick lmao) and it's all sanwa. pretty happy with it.
now i wonder if i want something with noir layout instead of vewlix since i realized yesterday that my way of finger placing and movement is kinda awkward on vewlix even though many people said if ring finger is longer get vewlix instead... but wrist angle is awkward for me and i prefer to put my index finger on X (or A for xbox layout) instead of square (X for xbox layout)
you got a great stick, i think it should last you a while, you can get one if you have guest over alot, other wise,i think 1 is enough, unless u want to collect more
love love love your ideas of how you would improve it! top buttons need to be on the side/top i WANNA SEE THE ART WORK!
Thank you for such a detailed review on this fighting stick, I think I will make this my first stick. Just a quick question, is there any difference between the original and the Street Fighter edition other than the design?
i have same question but i think its exacrly the same wiithout the art work is the only difference.
Thank you. If it is the same, I will opt for whichever is cheaper.
Just the graphic
Yup
Hey, really loved this video and I'm actually thinking of buying this hori stick after watching this, but I have a question. Is it compatible to use on pc as well? Or is it just ps5?
Should I wait for Hori to make a more premium stick like a Fighting Edge 2 (technically 3) or is this good for a long time? I currently use a Qanba Q4RAF and its showing its age.
JoystickNY: kept you waiting, huh?
Us: JoystickNY?... JoystickNY?!... JoystickNY!!!!!
appreciate the love and support
Do the Fighting Stick Alphas not have a DP - LS - RS switch anymore? I’m thinking of upgrading from my RAP N because Arc System Works and some smaller indie releases don’t support PS4 sticks for native PS5 versions. The Stick switch is essential!
That might be enough to push me towards Qanba.
Hello, I was curious on what kind of a backpack would you recommend using for this stick? I have the xbox version... thanks ! great video as usual btw
I m using mainly sanwa lever and hayabusa buttons
Mr @JoyStickNY please do the Euro FIghtstick Nacon Naija :D I would be glad to get your insight.
i saw the stick, i might pick 1 up later on, it looks nice
@@JoystickNY That is nice, if ever you do find it, and if you are interested in doing in. Keep doing the good work Mr JoystickNY
Great review! I am looking to buy my first fight stick. What's the difference between this and the non-SF6 edition? I will play on PC.
Not a fan of the art on it, it feels like it was slapped on instead of designed around the cutout of art area. That profile switching sounds fantastic. Those grips and easy access to opening are really great QoL features!
Edit: Just got to the end of your video. Love your redesign suggestion
you are right, the art coulda been better
Hello I would love to know Wich buttons fit with no problem. Like brands and models, since the hayabusa buttons are very low profile and the sanwa buttons and the crown have larger conectors pins (I mean not larger but like more long in the total length) so I was wondering if I would had problems to close the case once inm installed other buttons and if the conectors would hit the lower part of the case. Also wanted to ask where I can find hori buttons. Thanks.
Look for 30mm arcade buttons;
I usually get mine from arcade shock, focus attack, and paradise arcade, and amazon, google them for the official site
Wish it came with a bat top to swap in.
it would be nice tho ❤
Can you connect two arcade sticks on PS5 ??
Thank you very much, it is an informative video. I am interested to know if you have any comments on the comparison in terms of build quality and feel between this one and the discontinued Madcatz TE2 plus?
To me they both feel the same except 1 is sanwa and 1 is hori, the build quality is also very similar
@@JoystickNY Thank you for replying.
Is Noir layout the same as the older Hori RAP N arcade stick? That’s the one I have and love very much.
Yes
Bout time an arcade stick for PlayStation 5
appreciate you❤
this looks soooo good, wish they had three color options.
wish the purple sides were swappable too
Man I wish I could get this stick as a new go to stick for tournaments. Gonna stick with the RAP V for now since it's been said that it'll work with the PS5 version of SF6.
Also worth mentioning is the cable for the lever. It has a 6 pin plug in case you wanna install the Optical Hayabusa Lever.
great info, thank you for the reminder, rap V is amazing
Is the knee lever neo will fit in this arcade stick?
So this is the same as the alpha with just SF6 branding right?
Also do they come with octagonal gates?
Does this come with a square gate ? Didn’t hear it mentioned, sorry if I missed it.
Hey there, great video! Would you say this Arcade stick is worth it when it is on sale? I saw an Xbox Version of the Hori Fighting Stick Alpha for about 120 dollars...
For sure, even at 200 is a pretty good deal compare to others
I have a PS5, but i live in the middle of nowhere so i have to use starlink internet. Not good internet, but for some reason my laptop and my series X handles online play better than my PS5. So i got this stick for the series X. Xbox doesnt have many options, but this stick is nice. And i'm already customizing it. When i move back to the city, i'll get a hitbox for my PS5.
Excellent review! But I wanted to ask a question. Is easy to add an octagonal gate (my preference over square gate) or does it come with one already
Dude it’s super easy to install. You have to purchase one though. I bought mine from Focus Attack and all it took to install was unscrewing 4 screws and swapping out the gate. Hope this helps!
@@Jakey2damnSnakey thanks 👍
its easy to swap out, but it doesnt come with it, ty to hero2056 for answering
@@JoystickNY iv swapped previous Hori and madcatz arcade sticks with octagonal gates. Wasn't sure about this Hori because it's a new design. iv now ordered one. Thanks again guys
