Hello! I loved watching your videos preparing us for our trip to Italia. Thanks to you and this video, my husband and I just enjoyed pizza from Pizzeria di Sforza Piero and gelato from just down the same street! Great suggestions and felt like we ate where locals eat. Grazie Mille!
Your videos are so helpful and fun to watch. And you always look great. 😊 How fun to live near the Colosseo and be married to a Roman! (Monti is my favorite area)
We stayed in Monti on our last trip this past February. Loved it. Lots of good restaurants for sure. Next visit we will have to check out some of you recommendations. Thanks Elyssa
Once again, I wish I had discovered your most helpful channel prior to my 2023 visit to Rome. Still, I enjoy your videos and should I get to return to Italy I will go through your channel and take notes in preparation.
Elyssa, you never disappoint me with your wonderful, informative videos and your lovely presentation style. We like staying in Monti and will try some of your recommendations in the neighborhood when we are there in a couple of weeks. By the way, you look so beautiful in this video.
My husband & I had a romantic & fabulous evening at The Court bar; the view & the ambiance is well worth the price. Yes, book as far in advance as possible. As always, love all your suggestions. Your content makes us want to return to Italy now! We watched your videos before our return to Rome/Florence🥰
Will be in Rome in 3 weeks, staying in Monti, so excited to hear about a Gelateria with mint chocolate chip gelato! I’ll definitely be making a stop there.
Superb superb. Elyssa. I cannot thank you enough to putting these information out for travellers like me who have been planning rome for last 5 years. We were just about the book our tickets to Italy from 14th March to 31st march. And I just saw some posts on Facebook on jubilee year 2025. Would it be fine to go during these dates. Rome we would be 14th and 19th March. Your advise on what is to be expected in terms of crowds vs normal year.
Thanks so much! Don't worry about the Jubilee. Yes, there will be more people here but the Jubilee lasts all year. I answered your question about this in a different video but here again are the links to the videos I think will answr your questions: ruclips.net/video/ocmA7rKxBZY/видео.html March will probably be busier than you think. In recent years, our low season has shrunk: ruclips.net/video/-QZfk3MSZyg/видео.html Here's my video about visiting Rome in March: ruclips.net/video/EL7bhjgncqk/видео.html
Thanks so much, Elyssa, for another very relevant video 🙂. I'll be visting Colosseum at 3PM, and before that I'm planning to visit Altare della Patria, Piazza del Campidoglio, eat something and go to Roman Forum and Palatine Hill and finaly to Colosseum, a pretty tight schedule. So I'm wondering how long it takes to have a pizza or a meal at one of your recomended Pizzerias or Trattorias. I suppose I won't have more than 50 minutes to eat something. What do you think?
Glad you find the video helpful! I think you have a pretty tight schedule and not really time for a big sit down meal. Considering what you are doing, I'd suggest you considering stopping at the cafe inside the Capitoline museums and grabbing a sandwich, cafeteria style, and eating inside at one of the plastic tables there. You can also go to their restaurant but it's not amazing food and it's expensive. The cafe has great sandwiches though! If you do want a sit-down mean, you can try one of the places I recommend, and just let them know you have very little time, and just get one dish. Hope you have a great visit!
@@Romewise Thanks again for the wise tip. It's really a tight schedule, and the best thing to do is to have a fast meal, a sandwich or so. I don't intend to visit the Capitoline Museums, I'll check if their cafeteria is open to everyone. Oh, forgot to comment that at this very same night, I got dinner reservations at Aroma (a very long day indeed). I asked for a window table, let's see if they will fulfill it. Thanks again Elyssa. Cheers !!! 🙂🙂🙂
@@andrewilner Yes, I mentioned in this video that you can go to the Capitoline Museums cafe without entering the museum. Kudos on securing a res at Aroma! I am sure you will have a fabulous meal. Enjoy!
Just returned from Rome two days ago. Stayed off the beaten path near Piazza Bologna, local neighbourhood with plenty of good restaurant’s and bars. A 7 day metro ticket was 24 Euro and the metro system was so easy to use. 10 minutes by metro to the Colleseo station and others. Would definitely do this again. Allowed us to see the sights and escape the crowds at day’s end while giving a taste of a local neighborhood. My Italian is minimal, but sufficient to communicate with many non english speakers in the Piazza Bologna neighborhood. Most restaurants/bars did have some english speaking staff.
Thank you very much, Elyssa. Love your channel. Very practical. Great suggestions about restaurants, but our problem is, that my husband is on gluten free diet. Could you recommend some restaurants with gluten free menu.
I was literally looking at the menu for I Clementini when you mentioned it. 😂 We will be staying at the Mecure. Then you mentioned Monti... I just saved Monti😂
Thank you for the wonderful suggestions. I want to ask if I can avail an elevator for my mother? She has mobility issues but doesn’t use a wheelchair. Will she be granted access?
Yes I assumed! It's really just a matter of asking the staff. Just let them know she cannot take the stairs, and they are sure to let her (and you with her) take the lift both up and down.
@@Romewise oh Thank you so much!! My visa finally arrived and I can’t wait to be back in Italy. Your suggestions for lunch are perfect. I intend to visit the Colosseum then go for lunch at the market. It’s also near the Mouth of Truth which my mom really wants to visit as she has seen it in the movie Roman Holiday. 😊
Yes I do! These include local, non touristy spots: www.romewise.com/restaurants-near-piazza-navona.html I don't have a video out yet, but one is in the works!
Thanks for your videos. I found them just before my trip to Rome. I was there for March April and May. If you don’t mind me saying so, I found the food in Rome , right across the board to be horrific. $15 for a cup of over salty undercooked pasta. A salad? Add another $15. I tried tourist traps. I tried trendy high end. I tried little hole in the walls. I tried every kind of restaurant I could find. I’m very disappointed in the food in Rome and I had plenty of opportunity. The italian is MUCH better in America. Esp in NY and NJ.
Of course I don't mind - everyone has different tastes and Roman cuisine may not be for everyone. There is a saying in Latin "De gustibus non est disputandum", which roughly translates to "to each his/her own", or "different strokes for different folks." I'm sorry you didn't have any good food experiences while in Rome but I hope you enjoyed your visit anyway!
It would have been much appreciated if you would have made a map of all these places. Otherwise I just go to a different RUclips that shows maps I can screen shot and have it to look at when in Rome.

This is the one we've been waiting for! Thanks Elyssa. Our concierge recommended great Italian in Travestere near Tiber but too long ago to remember.
Thanks so much! Yes there are a lot of great places to eat in Trastevere, too!
Alyssa, thank you for the recommendations for the eateries but in particular the rooftop lounges!

It's great that the Antica Gelateria de Matteis and Pizzeria di Sforza Piero are right across the street from each other - very convenient. :)
Yes it is! The perfect lunch - pizza with a gelato dessert!
I’ve always been pleased with the food and service at I Clementini, beside the Basilica San Clemente. Small, intimate, and good value!
Glad you agree! I think it's one of the few very good places to eat in this area.
