This band... THIS BAND!!! You know when you love an album so much, you can't have an objective view because you're blinded by emotions? That's The Great Maddening for me, so if you don't like it don't tell me, I won't talk to you 😆
    Full Discography:
1996 ‘Codex Nocturnus’ (demo) as Dregoth
1997 ‘Of Heathen Blood and Soil’ (compilation) as Vindsval
1999 ‘Imperium Grotesque’ Full Album as Vindsval
2006 ’The Great Maddening’ Full Album as Le Grand Guignol.
I found two interviews, but it was in German, I think, so, for the people that can understand out there:

Hey there, Patrick from LGG here :) Thanks for the kind words and the spot-on research! Glad someone still remembers the music we made an eternity ago! Regarding the quality differences between "The Great Maddening" and "Imperium Grotesque", I may add as info that we only spent two and a half days on recording and mixing Imperium Grotesque in February 1999, using only 16 channels of ADAT...many first takes and a lot played live together...so less elaborate than the LGG album which we spent ages on ;) Anyway, thanks for this video, I really enjoyed watching it! cheers, Patrick Damiani

Wow, I am speechless and honoured you watched my video! Not only I remember your music, but as you saw, I am a huge huge fan. I think I know every second of ''The Great Maddening'' by heart at this point. Thank you so much for commenting, and also explaining the Imperium Grotesque album, and know again, the creativity is well appreciated!
      Cheers!

@@JoWinters Hey there, Yves here from LGG ;) Thanks from the heart for this video and for taking the time doing all this research about us and keeping Dregoth/Vindsval/LGG alive. Always the greatest of joys for musicians, if all the work, passion, dreams and visions we've put in together over the years, gets a reminiscence like this. 🙏😌

@@yvesblaschette4678 hey Yves, I'm also totally surprised to see an actual sign of life by one of you guys. I actually spent the last few weeks doing some research on you guys and getting in contact - I actually wrote E-Mails to you guys but I guess nobody observes those mailboxes anymore :D.
I totally agree with @JoWinters, "the Great Maddening" is by far the best piece of music I encountered in the last 10 years. I'm really interested in what happened to this project

... Hello I am new here, (french, old, so sorry about my bad english), I know Vindsval, he is (was ?) the singer/guitarist (since 1994, year of creation, solo member) of the very well known French Black Metal Band BLUT AUS NORD (yes I know the name is german but the band is FRENCH !!!).
So what else ? I think that BLUT AUS NORD is in my top 75 Black Metal Band, and voilà ...

@@JoWinters Always at your service !
Oh one question, what sort of channel is yours, a classic reaction channel where poeple ask you to comment one (or more) song of their choice , it's often when the guy pay you a Kofi or is a Patreon (I am a Patreon on 2 channels like that, but one is dying and I am not happy there, I certainly will cancel there, the second one is more to help a young "talent") ... Or do you choose (always ?) the subject "of the day" about you will talk and you'll ask a reaction from your readers ? (I am not a fan of the last choice because it's often a "battle" who knows the best and so on, it never ends lol ...
Thank you for an answer because I could be interested in the first solution (and my choices will not be always metal subjects, it could be Rock/Indy/Goth and ++ music in general from the 80tees to the 2010 years, often live if very good sound and multi-cam ... Thank you !

Good recommendation. I didn't really know that band but I love symphonic mixed with black metal, like Limbonic Art or Diabolical Masquerade. I'll definitely check it out.
PD: It also happens to me that I love a band but they have one or two albums and when I look for their previous or alternate works it is not the same :(

I hope next topic will be Nu-Metal bands like Slipknot, Korn, Static X, etc. I heard some metal heads hated this genre because for them it is not metal enough. They don't like the idea of combining metal and clean vocals, citing repetitive structures, simplistic lyrics, and formulaic elements. As well as fusion of diverse musical styles, including elements of metal, hip-hop, and alternative rock. But I just want to hear your opinion.

    • @JoWinters

Definitely will do! Not for the next video, but it’s a must to touch on that sub-genre. Thank you!
